AIBU to have the same pattern duvet cover in all three bedrooms?

Doing some major rejigging of beds and bedrooms so need to invest in new duvet covers as nothing matches. Have seen a nice looking white textured design on special offer.
Thinking about buying the same cover for all three rooms.
Will my house end up looking like a hostel or a bed and breakfast.?

It does sound quite boring

Getitwright · 18/01/2020 11:09

Erm.......you might just lack imagination and creativity in the decor bit of home making! Variety is the spice of life!😁

Seriously though, it’s your home, go for what suits you👍

Beamur · 18/01/2020 11:10

Wouldn't be my choice. But v easy and you can personalise the rooms in other ways.

LaurieMarlow · 18/01/2020 11:11

Do what you want.

I see loads of people on here who won’t entertain pattered duvet covers. That sounds dull as fuck to me, but it’s their house.

Tombliwho · 18/01/2020 11:13

Your house! If you like the look of it, that's what matters!

Bubblysqueak · 18/01/2020 11:14

Are they different size beds? Could get annoying when you're trying to squeeze a king size duvet into a double sized cover.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 18/01/2020 11:14

Personally I'd find it a bit dull but it's your house so your choice really (unless you have children/family/lodgers who sleep in those rooms and then I think they should have a choice as it's their space)

PullingMySocksUp · 18/01/2020 11:16

What are the rooms used for? Do the occupants have an opinion?

zoobincan · 18/01/2020 11:21

I suppose it depends on who's rooms they are.

Kids and teens usually like a bit more than white.

gamerwidow · 18/01/2020 11:24

It’s your house who cares what anyone else thinks. If you like it do it, you’re the one who has to live there.

BruceAndNosh · 18/01/2020 11:26

Only me and Mr BruceAndNosh here, so the bedrooms are spare rooms for visitors (and the cat). When I said 'the same cover' I would get the right size for each bed.
I'm not normally a Plain duvet cover sort of person, but they are normally muted stripes or similar. Never loud paterrns and definitely never ever floral.

Duvet covers should only be white. It is the law.

PhantomErik · 18/01/2020 11:49

Fair enough if your not taking the choice away from someone else (ie your DC)

My dc have quite a few different covers & like choosing different ones each week but I would happily keep the same cover on mine & DH's bed (washed obviously) as I like the colour & feel of it.

Carpathian2 · 18/01/2020 11:51

Duvet covers should only be white. It is the law.

Eh? Not in my house with 4 cats and a dog. I can't think of anything worse!

orangejuicer · 18/01/2020 11:53

Does it really matter? Make life simple!

MrsKCastle · 18/01/2020 11:53

If they're spare rooms, then yes, nifty that's what you want. It's your house!

I thought you were going to say it was kids' bedrooms, in which case I would expect the bedding to reflect their own style or likes.

But for spare rooms, simple matching sets sounds good.

SMaCM · 18/01/2020 11:53

I would have different, so you don't pick up the wrong duvet cover when getting ready to make a bed. If you'd said they were all the same size, I'd go for the same.

MaidofKent78 · 18/01/2020 11:56

Completely up to you. I would want different patterns if they are different sizes though so you don't end up trying to squeeze a king size into a double cover

redastherose · 18/01/2020 11:58

Don't do it if you have different size duvets. I have a super king, king and 2 doubles in my house. It's a nightmare trying to remember which duvet and cover go together even when they are different colours!

Elouera · 18/01/2020 12:00

I ONLY ever buy white bed linen!!! It doesn't date, like a gaudy pattern can.

You could always give the room a different look with a throw at the end of the bed, coloured pillows, a bolster pillow etc

Somemore · 18/01/2020 12:01

I'd love white duvet covers, but we also have a dog and my period tends to sneak up on me, so they're a no no here too. That said it's your house so why not! I'd lo e my house to look like a hotel instead of a shit tip 😁

Getitwright · 18/01/2020 12:01

I like the idea of themed rooms. Old house, uses characteristics ............new house, adds character. Not talking Disney or such stuff, but more like different colours, different era’s. Works for us in a very old property, visitors and family always comment. Some love it, others prefer minimal.

Cornettoninja · 18/01/2020 12:01

The size point is a good one. That mistake would get old fast.

fedup21 · 18/01/2020 12:01

That sounds nice actually-can you give us the link?

BlackCatSleeping · 18/01/2020 12:04

Now white duvet covers really does sound like a B&B. Honestly, it’s your home. Who cares if you have the same duvet cover on all beds? But I agree if they are different sizes, don’t do it.
