AIBU to have the same pattern duvet cover in all three bedrooms?

Doing some major rejigging of beds and bedrooms so need to invest in new duvet covers as nothing matches. Have seen a nice looking white textured design on special offer.
Thinking about buying the same cover for all three rooms.
Will my house end up looking like a hostel or a bed and breakfast.?

Mixing them up wouldn't be a problem. Spare rooms have one king, and two singles. We have a superking with a single duvet each as we have vastly different heat requirements!

I only buy white bedlinen for adults.

Palavah · 18/01/2020 12:08

Also, hotel beds are designed to look and be inviting!

strawberry2017 · 18/01/2020 12:08

Each to their own. I think it's boring personally but it's not my house. Do what you want to do.

YANBU. Your house, your choice.

Kpo58 · 18/01/2020 12:11

I can think of nothing worse than white duvet and pillow covers. It's so sterile.

SunshineAngel · 18/01/2020 12:11

I'd say this is definitely a good idea if they're just guest rooms, as neutral covers makes it nice for whoever wants to stay.

FatherRabulaConundrum · 18/01/2020 12:13

All white bed linen here - means all the pillow cases can go on any bed, and everythjng goes in on the same wash. Bedrooms have different blankets/cushions to add some colour.

mummmy2017 · 18/01/2020 12:16

Mum did this.
Curtains and extras added colour to each room.
Go for it.

MitziK · 18/01/2020 12:16

I think it would look fine if you made each look slightly different - such as by having a blanket and extra pillows in a different colour - taupe in one, pale blue in another, for example.

Ginkypig · 18/01/2020 12:22

My view is very simply in your house have whatever the fuck you like and I won't judge you for it even if it wouldn't be my personal choice and il do the same for mine. Smile

BlouseAndSkirt · 18/01/2020 12:22

Oh, bleugh at the number of people using coloured / patterned duvets to disguise animal dirt. On their beds.

Just goes to show we are all different.

So do what you like best, OP!

billy1966 · 18/01/2020 12:25

The entire upstairs of my home is the same colour. Same curtains, flooring and blinds, light fittings, all duvets covers off white.

It actually has a lovely calm, free flow.

I love simplicity though.

MikeUniformMike · 18/01/2020 12:31

I wouldn't get white ones unless your cat is white.

sashh · 18/01/2020 12:38

I wouldn'r, purely because when I go to the airing cupboard I know what size the duvet is because it matches the colour of the room.

Beetle76 · 18/01/2020 12:43

I’ve just gone back to a white duvet cover on our bed. It has an all over pattern which gives it a lovely texture, and adds another layer of depth IYSWIM. It’s gorgeous- probably my most favourite duvet covet ever. I have printed sheeting underneath so it’s not boring. I’d do this in every room if I could, but with sheeting to work with the different decor of each room. And I never wash all the bedding in the house on the same day so which set goes where would not be a problem. So no. YANBU. Do it!

BruceAndNosh · 18/01/2020 12:44

"Dull as fuck" is actually the look I'm going for.Grin
We've recently put a minimalist kitchen in and really like the uncluttered look so I'm trying to remove any fussiness from the house.

Our room & spare room are both white, always, but different ‘textures’ so it’s easy to tell them apart. I prefer to have linen that is only used on our bed.

I love white linen. It’s not boring, it’s beautiful.

Children’s bed are a variety to suitbthem/their rooms, but only used on their own beds.

Chloemol · 18/01/2020 12:47

I don’t see a problem in doing that, you can make the rooms different with different curtains and soft furnishings and whites a good background for that.

helpmum2003 · 18/01/2020 12:51

It's your house your choice! Agree it's good for washing.

I just got white textured for the first time and was worried it'd be boring but really love it. Looks simple but elegant.

I would worry about the sizing thing. Maybe a different texture for each size? I hate changing beds so want it to be as quick as possible.

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 18/01/2020 13:01

We have white on our bed and the spare bed but the rooms look very different. Different colour walls, completely different style beds, different style furniture, lamps, one has curtains, one blinds, spare room has a brightly coloured bedspread over the white. If we had a third spare room we'd probably have more white linen as I love it and would be happy that I could make the rooms different enough.

If you have similar coloured walls & furniture then it could be a bit dull.

Bargebill19 · 18/01/2020 13:02

Genius. Go for it!

BarbaraofSeville · 18/01/2020 13:03

Do what you like OP, it's not like you can ever look at all three beds at the same time and think a bit of variety would be better.

I like bright colours myself, cheerful in neutral rooms, and I don't have to worry about stain removal as I'm another who has to share with far too many cats.

But unfortunately, decent quality cotton bedding in bright colours is like hen's teeth. I blame all you 'it must be plain white, it's the law' types.

BarbaraofSeville · 18/01/2020 13:05

MikeUniformMike

wouldn't get white ones unless your cat is white

And that cat never comes in the house with muddy paws, heading straight for the beds, and never decides to have a good spewing session 'just because'.

cosytoes87 · 18/01/2020 13:11

If you went with white in all 3 rooms you could add a splash of colour with cushions and throws. I love the hotel room feel in a bedroom. The only thing I will say about white though is keeping it white will be hard (make up, tan)
