To be annoyed at CF parking

Gotten home from school drop off and a bit of shopping to find an unknown white van parked on the drive outside my house. No sign of anyone anywhere, loads of public places to park. It’s been there an hour now. I am tempted to block him in but don’t want to wake the baby if they return banging the door down. AIBU for being pissed off - WWYD?

It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s the NDN - their dog is always shitting on my front garden and when we tell them they said they have to live here too, and what are they supposed to do! Walk it to shit somewhere else and pick it up was my suggestion

Perhaps he's parked up to take his dog for a walk. Van drivers around my way are always parked up in random places to walk the dog.

(No help, I realise Smile )

theworstwife · 17/01/2020 13:09

They have been there at least since 11am when I got back and no sign of anyone. There is a village centre a walk away and a couple of pubs - I guess they could have gone for lunch and so might be back soon

CF's!

Nail in tyre

SoupDragon · 17/01/2020 13:13

From the diagram there is a good chance the driver has just made a mistake.

Or, the cat has ordered a fish delivery and has shut the driver in the cupboard under the stairs whilst waiting for an opportunity to empty the back of the van

KitKat1985 · 17/01/2020 13:17

Well YANBU but from the diagram I can see how a driver could have mistaken that for being just a cul-de-sac area at the end of the road rather than a driveway. So possibly just leave a note saying it's a private driveway not public road and could they please not park there in future.

theworstwife · 17/01/2020 13:18

Cat remains asleep on the bed, still pretty pissed off I’m living in her house and filling it with noisy offspring but I think uninvolved with white van man.

BrokenWing · 17/01/2020 13:19

Looking at your diagram I think they just thought it was the end of the road/visitor parking, I would assume they've made a mistake if it is a common problem think of ways to make it clearer it is a private drive.

theworstwife · 17/01/2020 13:21

They may have made a genuine mistake but where are they and what are they doing? If they’re work men they surely would park where they are working and if not there isn’t enough to occupy yourself with here for more than a hour

I would have a word with your local council offices. 101 won't be all that interested I am sorry to say because they will regard this as a civil matter rather than a criminal one.

Do not do anything to the vehicle like glue a note to the windscreen because that is criminal damage.

BruceAndNosh · 17/01/2020 13:29

definitely this

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 17/01/2020 13:33

Id reverse back and block them in. Otherwise they will think they can ark there any time they want in future

YasssKween · 17/01/2020 13:37

That is incredibly selfish of you tbh.

I suggest you stock up on Dreamies and have a good think about what you've done.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 17/01/2020 13:39

I would inform both 101 and your local council re this vehicle being parked there.

If a vehicle is parked on your driveway without your permission, they would be trespassing. As trespass is a civil and not criminal offence the police will not always get involved. At most they may send an officer to try and determine the owner of the vehicle and ask them to move.

If someone has parked on your driveway and you were to block them in, your vehicle may be causing an obstruction to the public highway and this is a criminal offence. Therefore the owner of the vehicle could call the police on you.It is a criminal offence to clamp/block/tow away a vehicle on private land without lawful authority. Lawful authority to immobilise or move a vehicle is restricted to a number of organisation such as the police, DVLA and local authorities.

@theworstwife

I am not deserving of her opening her eyes

You're reading her behavior wrong. Closing her eyes is a signal of cat love and trust. It means that she's not worried that you might attack her. This is an actual thing I learned from the show "My cat from Hell". Smile

theworstwife · 17/01/2020 14:01

I’ll take that @MissConductUS - she secretly loves me 😻

Best get some red signs 'Private Drive'. That will teach em!

Flavarings · 17/01/2020 14:09

Very cute cat OP,
Hows the van is it still there?
Invite some mummy friends round, with about 3 cars blocking him in, it would take forever to clear then, much to the annoyance of the van man!

theworstwife · 17/01/2020 14:10

Yep still there, just going to wake the baby and do the school run

What happened with Baz and Gaz? Was it a troll?

BigFatLiar · 17/01/2020 14:16

Time for the penguins!

Bollards for you.

And a notice 'Attack cat on patrol'

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 17/01/2020 14:16

My bet is it’s stolen and has been dumped in your nice private driveway.
