To be annoyed at CF parking

Gotten home from school drop off and a bit of shopping to find an unknown white van parked on the drive outside my house. No sign of anyone anywhere, loads of public places to park. It’s been there an hour now. I am tempted to block him in but don’t want to wake the baby if they return banging the door down. AIBU for being pissed off - WWYD?

What a CF!

dworky · 17/01/2020 12:12

I would block him in & charge by the quarter hour.

theworstwife · 17/01/2020 12:12

It’s not really a road - 3 houses with drives with no public right of way

If it is a dead end, then yes you can block him in. I personally would not as I would be worried about retaliation such as my car getting scratched.

Mumdiva99 · 17/01/2020 12:14

Are you sure your HB/Partner didn't offer your drive way to someone?

Fairyflaps · 17/01/2020 12:15

I would be tempted to call the police on 101 and say someone has abandoned their van in your drive, and give them the registration.
It's possibly someone who wants their car to be off the road and out of sight.
You can also check if it's taxed and insured

YANBU! This is an absolutely shocking thing to do!

Can someone help me? I always see people talking about polls in AIBU, but I can never see them. Does anyone know why?

Lovely cat too, btw :).

MrsMozartMkII · 17/01/2020 12:17

Bonkers!

Loving the cat though.

theworstwife · 17/01/2020 12:18

Not my DH have spoken to him. This is the rough layout

Is it dirty? You could write
You park like a twat.

theworstwife · 17/01/2020 12:21

Just feeding baby - if it’s still there will block/note. Don’t want to call 101 unnecessarily I’m sure they have more important stuff to do

OP posts:
theworstwife · 17/01/2020 12:22

@Whynosnowyet not really that dirty unfortunately

You have a vicious cat.
You have a van parked on your drive without your permission.

There can be only one outcome. Go and throw some cat biscuits over the van Grin

BruceAndNosh · 17/01/2020 12:23

I'd block them in. If your neighbours are out, White Van Man might be burglarising their house at the moment...

iknowimcoming · 17/01/2020 12:23

I'd be quite tempted to sellotape some 'van for sale £250' posters to it liberally Grin

theworstwife · 17/01/2020 12:24

Have checked and it is taxed and insured

diddl · 17/01/2020 12:24

Is he actually on your drive?

Looks to me as if he is on the road, although obviously blocking the front of the drive.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 17/01/2020 12:24

I'm guessing that the van driver doesn't realise that it's your private property - just thinks that it's a cul-de-sac, with three houses and drives off it, and that he's parked on the only section of the public road where it's possible to do so without blocking anybody's drives.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 17/01/2020 12:27

Hi , sorry you seem to have parked on my drive, is there a problem?

Why on earth would you say "sorry" in this note?

Serendipity79 · 17/01/2020 12:27

I reckon looking at that he thinks its a dead end and he's not blocking anyone in so has parked there thinking he's allowed. Its not immediately obvious from the diagram that its yours.

I share a driveway area with the neighbour and we suffer all the time from people either turning round or parking on our shared area because its not obvious its ours (even with a big private parking sign!)

Feminazgul · 17/01/2020 12:27

Looking at the photo, it would be an easy mistake to make to think it's still part of the roadway. Is there anything showing that it's an actual private drive and not just the end of a road?

Beckham19 · 17/01/2020 12:28

A note saying 'why are you parked on my drive? ' stuck on the drivers side of the windscreen, with pritt stick... Its a bitch to get off 😂

FlaskMaster · 17/01/2020 12:29

I see what's happened now with the diagram, it's not clear the end of the road is yours, it looks to him like he's just parked it at the end of the road. You need gates, pots, paint lines or something to define where the road ends and your land starts.

FlaskMaster · 17/01/2020 12:30

If that bit was block paving instead of tarmac he wouldn't have parked there I think.
