it is my DD's 2nd birthday on Friday, my DH will be away with work stuff until Saturday evening ( depending on trains etc ) until about 6pm ...he asked me on Monday if we could have her birthday on the Saturday instead and I said I thought that was a bit strange, but we could save her main present and he could give it to her when he sees her....he is not happy ..am I in the wrong ? ( although too late now as I have little party friends coming over on Friday!!)

Thanks for the comments ...next year will be different, I should have gone on holiday without him but the thought of just me and 3 under 6yrs in a cottage was a bit daunting!

Can you tell I haven't read the thread?

paddling - glad the first party went well. Good to see that you haven't been put off posting by some inordinately wanky comments from a couple of mumsnetters

Hope your dh gets back reasonably early tomorrow and dd enjoys the 2nd installment of her birthday

Nice to have extended birthdays . Ours always seem to stretch over several days: actual birthday, friends party, family party, trip out etc.
