William's alleged behaviour to blame?

lemonoilburner · 12/01/2020 20:25

For Harry's departure , as suggested?
Is it all rumour or a genuine possibility in
Your opinion?
Surely William's personal life did not offend Harry so much that he would actually step back from his role and life in the UK?

OP posts:
TheYearOfTheDog · 12/01/2020 20:53

It's not that Harry was more offended by infidelity than mixing with convicted paedophiles?! He was very close to William and it was their father's infidelity that brought Camilla in to the picture and hurt their mother. So, his closeness to the situation would have made him react more.

While all of that was going on, the papers ignored William's affair and portrayed MM as a DIVA.

No wonder things were fraught between them!

Broken2020 · 12/01/2020 20:54

@Plumbus Your source is The Sun!?!?!?Grin

TheresWaldo · 12/01/2020 20:54

Oh dear lord. This is getting ridiculous now.

HildaRumpole · 12/01/2020 20:55

William’s affair was reported in the press in other countries, just here that it was kept hush hush. Not sure there’s any reasonable doubt about it. Whether that’s part of why the brothers’ relationship appeared to cool, who knows

XXcstatic · 12/01/2020 20:57

the papers knew about William's affair but weren't printing that

The media have hardly been deferential to the RF over the last 40 years: they printed Fergie having her toes sucked and Charles wanting to be a tampon. The reason that nothing about William's alleged affair has appeared in the UK press is either that it isn't true or that there is no credible proof that it is true.

TheYearOfTheDog · 12/01/2020 20:57

Which bit is ridiculous?!

Come back to me in a year and tell me my post was ridiculous!

All of this was published in other countries. I'm incredulous that people are naive enough to believe that William would never cheat, that the press wouldn't sit on one story while throwing another new royal under the bus.

Feminazgul · 12/01/2020 20:57

Given what he went through with the press after his mothers death and how the press are now treating his wife it's not hard to work out why he wants to leave.

Of course, it's easier to blame the woman Hmm

Frenchw1fe · 12/01/2020 20:58

@Genevieva the confidence with which you say the affair rumour was nonsense, how do you know?
Enough people on MN have partners who have affairs. Why would William be exempt from this possibility? His father did.
Personally I find it strange that two such previously close brothers have fallen out.
Whatever the real reason we'll probably never know.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 12/01/2020 20:59

Time to cut the proverbial apron strings and make a lovely life with his nuclear family. I hope they'll be very happy. I don't think they'll ever regret this decision.

Especially if they get to keep their titles, security, home in the U.K. etc.

TheYearOfTheDog · 12/01/2020 20:59

There were also headlines about how many nannies the sussexes went through.

Her sister Samantha was quoted as saying that MM was ''narcissistic'' but her sister never said that word.

xmasbiccies · 12/01/2020 21:00

I totally agree Theyearofthedog.

The three of them were so close that if Wills did do that to Kate it would be a massive betrayal to Harry and Kate especially given what happened to their mother.

I think Harry would have been gutted and then to see the vile, racist articles printed about MM and her family relationships exposed the way they were could have just been the last straw../not to mention Andrew not getting half the awful press directed at him.

I think the Royal Family has made a huge mistake. MM and Harry were just what they needed to modernise and get away from some of the past dubious behavior...affairs, associations with paedos, racist comments etc...however they have been pushed out and slaughtered by the press.

I think this is a massive mistake for the Royal Family and one that could end them because when I speak to ‘younger’ people more of them relate to Harry than Wills and Charles...maybe that’s what they were afraid of.

saraclara · 12/01/2020 21:01

Good grief.

None of you know these people, none of you have the slightest idea what happened. And yet here you are, posting your made up stories with total confidence. It's absolutely sickening. What's the matter with you? Do you not see what you're doing?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/01/2020 21:02

what kind of world are we living in when people froth more about someone wanting to not have the paps on their doorstep 24/7, than over someone who may well be a sex offender having allegedly exploited his position to coerce vulnerable girls?

Spot on Baolfan

TheYearOfTheDog · 12/01/2020 21:03

@XXcstatic Rose told her friends WHY kate had frozen her out. So it's widely known but how can anybody ever prove if two people had an affair behind closed doors or not.

The tabloids could have printed what they knew but couldn't prove but they didn't. Even though it's unlikely The Cambridges would have sued given that it was true.

PortiaCastis · 12/01/2020 21:03

The gutter press and some of the shite they print need to be very careful as the libel will go to far the royals won't put up with it and more and more law suits will fly

Disfordarkchocolate · 12/01/2020 21:04

No idea but I have seen years of Harry supporting William and Catherine at events. It would have been lovely to see William and Catherine doing the same when Meghan joined the royal family.

TheYearOfTheDog · 12/01/2020 21:05

@saraclara, bless your heart.

xmasbiccies · 12/01/2020 21:07

I cannot believe how many people just blindly think Wills is perfect and are so willing to criticize MM for what...being confident, ambitious, successful, getting what she wants in life, having the strength to cut out toxic people from her life?

All the people on here moaning about cheaters, toxic family members, doing what’s best for you, sexism...yet you slate her? It’s unbelievable.

phpolly · 12/01/2020 21:08

Rumours of William's affair with Rose Hanbury were widely reported worldwide, but suppressed in the UK media, supposedly by the RF. I have heard that part of the reason for the rift between William and Harry is that MM leaked the rumour due to a breakdown in her relationship with Kate. No idea whether or not that is true.

Lizzzar · 12/01/2020 21:09

Meghan appears to prefer to live in a mansion overlooking Vancover Bay, probably soon to be replaced by similar in LA or Toronto, where she can mix with celebrities and support liberal causes, rather than visit local schools, hospitals etc while staring at the rain and coping with the damp at Frogmore. There is probably no real mystery about this, and I think Charles is eventually going to have to fund it to avoid possibly unpleasant interviews etc. It could be seen as self absorbed, but she has said that life is about 'thriving, not surviving' even though many people's only real option is to try to survive.

Crafting1Queen · 12/01/2020 21:09

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Broccolia · 12/01/2020 21:11

I think MM is spectacular

She clearly makes a lot of people feel intimidated due to their own shortcomings

Love how the outraged British as a whole are behaving like a narcissistic gaslighting partner when their victim finally sees sense and walks away

Wineiscooling · 12/01/2020 21:11

I just read the following ......
I am no fan of the royal family but whoever wrote it does talk sense......

One day a woman gave up her lucrative career that she loved, worked hard for and excelled at as well as earning millions to be with the man that she loves.

She made the decision, which I am positive was extremely emotional, to pack up her entire life, kiss her loved ones good bye and moved to an entirely different country to be with the man she loves.

She said goodbye to her single mother who raised her on her own and life as she knew it to be with the man she loves.

She gave up any ounce of privacy she had once enjoyed and took on the role gracefully and without hesitation to be with the man she loves.

She is constantly scrutinised, bullied and vilified by the media and is the constant target of relentless racism. The tabloid headlines are vile and sickening to read but the people revel in that kind of hatred toward her but she still shows up, she still smiles for the cameras and she never waivers in her support for her husband. She endures to be with the man she loves.

She chose to carry the baby that both her and her husband wanted, suffering through morning sickness, extreme hormonal changes, aches and pains and all the added risks of pregnancy when under extreme pressure.

She was called too fat, too old and too pretentious for protectively holding her growing belly as she grew a human being inside of her, she knew she would no longer be in control of her own body all the while being called a liar who was faking her pregnancy. All to be with the man she loves.

She went through postpartum anxiety and NEARLY broke down in a public interview, she was not offered love and support from the public instead she was called a drama queen!

Accused of just being a great actor capable of crocodile tears yet, only after years of having her acting abilities scrutinised, but she continued to be the pillar of strength in the public eye and raising her baby boy, to be with the man she loves.

The world never bat an eyelid over everything she gave up. The entire world chewed her up, spat her out and then demanded more.

One day a man said he would not be bullied into playing a game that killed his beloved mum. He and his wife made the choice to put theirs and their childs mental health and well-being first.

That grown man ,who is very capable of making his own choices, decided to give up his career to be with the woman he loves.

And the entire world went mad...

CatInTheDaytime · 12/01/2020 21:12

Agree with Baolfan - why are they making such a fuss? The RF could have said "OK, we support Harry to choose a different life, here's the plan, he can play whatever part he likes" instead of reacting like it's a massive betrayal or family split. He's the queen's grandson and 6th in line to the throne, he's not the monarch - it so doesn't matter. That makes me wonder if it is all meant to detract from the far worse issue of what Andrew has been up to.

Lizzzar · 12/01/2020 21:12

I have heard of this affair, too, but I think it is wrong to be constantly repeating it. I am not an insider, but there seems to be no actual evidence for it apart from the fact that the Cambridge's know the Hanburys. I do think some people will say anything about the Royal family.
