Holly Willoughby has it all

Just that really. OK so I know I will get told to focus on my own life and that I'm jealous etc I do actually like watching Holly on TV but I can't help hut think she constantly lands on her feet, I know no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors but she is genuinely happy, I don't think you could fake that everyday! She's super rich, seems to have a nice husband and family life, no money struggles wondering how she is going to pay a bill, always getting new job roles, I don't understand how every area in her life can be so perfect. Over the years I have watched this morning whilst going through phases of being so poor and now a marriage breakup, so I understand you will think its my own issues why I feel like this but I'm just wondering how people go through life getting good things thrown at them and some have shit. Yes she works hard hut don't we all she just got lucky yo be working on TV which not everyone has the chance to do to warn millions

RMusic12 an alternative interpretation is she knows what she wants workwise and isn't a push over. I think she got together with her husband before he owned a media company.

If you look at Holly's career trajectory you can see it is part luck and part intensely hard work and resilience. She was pretty enough to be a teen model but then has done lots of children's TV (from which many find it hard to transfer into mainstream) and also presented lots of crap stuff or things that didn't work out (even her Celebrity stint in the jungle as a presented was criticized heavily). She is obviously hugely resilient and when one door closes, finds another and kicks it open.

I would hate to have a job where I could really never be ill and had to present whatever my feelings/tired/emotional/have a down day. She makes that look easy- I don't think those saying she has 'no talent' are correct, if you look at those who really can't present (e.g. Rochelle Humes even though they have been trying to promote her and her husband for years), then Holly makes it look easy. 99% of people simply couldn't do what she does well, so it must take some skill!

I wouldn't want to be HW or have her life particularly, but there's lots you could take from her life and emulate- she jumps at every chance she has (and yes, she is genetically lucky looks-wise too but most teen models don't go on to successful presenting careers).

@zoobincan Still not seeing the reasons behind your point. Yes she must miss the morning school run, as they get in early for all their prep but then she’s off air by 12.30/1. Do they do just another couple of hours maybe and then she’s free?

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 11/01/2020 10:00

I'm not sure I could be happy if I either was that dim or had to act that dim to do my job

MrsJBaptiste · 11/01/2020 10:01

Yes, zoobican I don't get your last post either?

EmeraldShamrock · 11/01/2020 10:01

she has no real talent, but her looks get her work
I think she is hilariously funny, warm, empathetic, definitely talented she couldn't hold onto all those jobs.
There are many beautiful presenters more beautiful physically than Holly but they don't get all the work.
She is lots more than just a pretty face.

zoobincan · 11/01/2020 10:04

Really? You think she just rocks up 4 days a week does a bit of presenting and then goes home? Right. Ok.

zoobincan · 11/01/2020 10:06

Do you not?

Ok. There is more to preening a show than simply being on air.

Also, This morning is not the only thing HW does. The suggestion that she only misses the morning school run is bizarre. She does much more then simply Rick up and present TM

Disfordarkchocolate · 11/01/2020 10:06

She works with Philip Schofield, I'd say that balances out a lot of the good stuff.

ItFigures · 11/01/2020 10:07

She’s been very successful and outwardly seems to have everything but we don’t know her and don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. Maybe she is blissfully happy and completely fulfilled and if she is go her I say.

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 11/01/2020 10:12

Personally, I think HW peaked years ago.
I haven't been able to watch her on TV without cringing for years. She's overrated IMO.
But, as a woman, I'm pleased to see another woman doing so well in the public eye, and if she's happy too, good for her. There's more than enough unhappiness floating round already.

Straycatstrut · 11/01/2020 10:12

I've just read her wiki. I expected her parents to run an acting agency, drama school or something and so she already had one foot in the door but no - seems it was all her own hard work that got her where she is so fair play to her! She's had no big drug/alcohol/cheating scandals has she?? so a good role model.

I just hate how wannabe TV presenters don't get a chance anymore - it's Ant&Dec/Holly&Phil/Dermot. It's just all very stale.

I used to love Davina in the Big Brother early series - I was only 11/12!

firstimemamma · 11/01/2020 10:14

Celebs don't have it all - they don't have privacy or the option of a quiet trip to the shops without being looked at or approached.

pondering45 · 11/01/2020 10:14

I agree with the others that her presenting style is clearly popular with many people hence why she gets jobs, so she's good at that. I don't think she is beautiful but she's attractive in a very relatable way which I think is another reason she's popular. She's not stupid, she understands her success relies on people thinking she's like them or could be her friend & you can buy the exact coat or cushion she has etc

zoobincan · 11/01/2020 10:17

I think it's always been like that. The 80/90s were flooded with a small group of presenters too.

I do agree however it is stale.

Mintychoc1 · 11/01/2020 10:19

HW smokes though, doesn’t she? So she really doesn’t have it all, because she will almost certainly suffer significant illness as a result of smoking.

daisychain01 · 11/01/2020 10:22

Ooo goodie, goodie, we've found something. HW smokes, there's a thing.

Soon she'll be a wrinkled old hag with lung disease.

The mentality on here is depressing!!

AfterSchoolWorry · 11/01/2020 10:23

She's a total lightweight bimbo. Zero intellect.

How does she 'have it all' ??? 🤔

She's a baubel.

Magpiesshinynest · 11/01/2020 10:25

Can’t stand her

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 11/01/2020 10:25

She had the good luck to be born beautiful and I thought blonde but apparently not, which no doubt helped her to have the self belief and confidence to work in her chosen field. I genuinely think beauty and confidence, which often go hand in hand, are often (not always) the key to the door of the golden kingdom.
I say this as a short fat ugly goblin with zero confidence and severe mental health issues who has merely observed this over the years.

dogsdinnerlady · 11/01/2020 10:26

It's bauble.

DecisioNN · 11/01/2020 10:27

You’re not wrong, she does seem to have it all. I’ll focus on the word ‘seem’, but you really don’t know what goes on behind closed doors in another persons life, celebrity or non celebrity.

Life is partly choice, but the majority is luck. Being born in to a certain family (wealthy vs non wealthy), outside influences such as parents getting their children internships in company’s that go on to employ them, whether your deemed ‘intelligent’, how attractive you are all pot luck.

Then you get a child born in to poverty, living in cramped accommodations, constantly struggling. It’s not fair and social mobility is so difficult despite the assumption that it’s easy to move between ‘systems’. It’s absolutely not!

You see it all the time. Money talks and those that have it, have opportunities that the average person simply doesn’t and puts them at a huge advantage. They can then afford to send their kids to better schools then the cycle continues.

Some people do seem to fall out the lucky tree for sure

DecisioNN · 11/01/2020 10:29

The majority of my above post is not really about Holly, it’s a general assumption.

I do like Holly though. She seems really nice!

TheCoolerQueen · 11/01/2020 10:30

There was a hint of something a couple of years ago, it was to do with a car. I can't remember the details but at the time it was one of those stories that the DM publishes, they're not telling you the full story but encouraging you to fill in the gaps.

SabineSchmetterling · 11/01/2020 10:33

I knew someone who worked with her. They had only nice things to say about her. She’s really lovely apparently but the rumours are that her husband sleeps around a lot. Apparently she once reported her car stolen to try and track him down.
