On a date with a lovely fella who is a good cook. We've been out before and had a fab time.

Just been presented with a plate of steak and the smell of it is turning my stomach. There's no way I can eat it.

He's in the kitchen (faffing). No pets about to slip it to... Should I shove it in my bag?

Coming back, beb

I cut a small bit (literally 20p sized) and put it in my mouth...

That's a very extreme reaction OP, does this happen often with food?

Minionbums · 11/01/2020 11:37

Can’t have been a bad date if you were still there this morning!

ItsNovemberNotChristmas · 11/01/2020 11:40

There's some miserable bastards on here, picking everything apart. Lighten up FFS

QuestionableMouse · 11/01/2020 11:44

@AlaskaElfForGin

No, never had it happened before. Also definitely 100% not pregnant.

The potatoes and other veg he'd cooked was delicious and I ate all of that it was just the steak.

Why did he need to go out and buy bread to make toast?

ItsNovemberNotChristmas · 11/01/2020 12:19

@Worralliberty presumably because he didn't have any and shops sell it?

DobbyLovesSocks · 11/01/2020 12:21

@WorraLiberty Assuming OP's date had none available and you need to have bread to make toast.......
Plus as OP has vomited something dry like toast is best

WorraLiberty · 11/01/2020 12:23

Worralliberty presumably because he didn't have any and shops sell it?

No shit Sherlock < Sigh >

I meant if the OP ate everything else he cooked (even after throwing up and crying), I'm not sure why he felt the need to go out and buy bread.

But of course you knew what I meant anyway.

WorraLiberty · 11/01/2020 12:24

Update from the OP....

The potatoes and other veg he'd cooked was delicious and I ate all of that it was just the steak.

BlueCornsihPixie · 11/01/2020 12:34

I don't really understand the timeline

OP put the food in her mouth, ran and vommited. Cried enough that date was panicking. Then sat down and ate the, potentially now cold, veg and potatoes.

Then he offered to order a Chinese? But OP couldn't face it because she's been sick. But could face the potatoes and veg. Them for some reason even though OP had eaten most of her dinner and wasn't feeling well he went to get bread for toast.

DobbyLovesSocks · 11/01/2020 12:35

@WorralLiberty

I would have assumed OP ate the veg and potatoes and THEN threw up after trying the steak - otherwise she would have had nothing to bring up and she stated she 'threw her guts up'

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 11/01/2020 12:38

Odd

ItsNovemberNotChristmas · 11/01/2020 12:42

Of course I knew what you meant, just not sure why people are banging on and trying to trip the OP up on a lighthearted thread

WorraLiberty · 11/01/2020 12:45

Look, simply typing the word 'lighthearted' doesn't mean an OP can type any old thing and not have people question them on it. That's not how chat forums work.

If it did, most MN threads would be pretty empty.

Nifflernancy · 11/01/2020 12:54

Why are you all so over invested 😂

OkPedro · 11/01/2020 13:19

I don’t know why anyone bothers starting a thread on mn... there’s always twats waiting in the wings ready to pounce. Trying to trip the op up. It’s tiresome

QuestionableMouse · 11/01/2020 13:23

I really didn't realise this would require a second by second breakdown of my every action.

I ate the potatoes (new, roasted with herbs and garlic) and veggies (purple white and orange baby carrots, steamed, peas, from a can and nuked til hot, and parsnips, roasted with the potatoes) while avoiding the steak which smelled of blood and was making me feel ill.

Then I tried a small bit of the steak which made me vomit.

He panicked because I ran from the table and he though I was choking not being sick.

I cried a small bit because I'd been sick and that's what happens.

He made sure I was okay, we talked about the steak smelling funny to me and he said he'd noticed a bloody smell but his was quite rare so assumed it was that.

I have my steak about medium, not keen on pink meat.

He offered a takeaway from his local Chinese which is very good and makes amazing salt and pepper chicken.

I declined because I just couldn't face it.

Because he's a lovely man, he nipped to the local corner shop and bought a loaf of bread (wholemeal thick cut because they didn't have any white.)

I ate some toast and then we watched a couple of episodes of the Witcher before moving onto other activities.

Any more questions for the doubters or nosy?

And no, I'm not discussing my sex life you nosy lot.

Though I will say it was very good and kept us occupied for quite a while. Man has many skills. BlushGrin

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 11/01/2020 14:54

Awww, that's great! So glad the meat wasn't off, I was genuinely worried that he's have food poisoning. Clearly he was in full working order. Wink

CommunistLegoBloc · 11/01/2020 15:06

'I'm not discussing my sex life'

I
mmediately discusses sex life.

Amazing live updates whilst he was actually eating food right in front of you, too...

DobbyLovesSocks · 11/01/2020 15:33

Ah all's well that ends well OP Wink
Like PP said, one story for the wedding speech

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 11/01/2020 15:44

I did not know it was possible to throw up without crying!

I get travel sick, and tears always stream down my face when sick. I can’t control it.

At a potential MIL, I once ran to the loo to be sick when she made me eat very mouldy bread, and I did not want to be rude (posh lady, telling me it’s Just like peneciljn and does no harm Hmm ). The time after there was a big fly in my soup and I gagged at the table Blush

Some of us just have sensitive stomachs!

whiplashy · 11/01/2020 15:55
Hmm
ShirleyPhallus · 11/01/2020 16:16

Quite the number of amateur sleuths on this thread aren’t there!

If you don’t believe it, just report it. All this “AH HA!!!” business and then nit picking apart one sentence with a 10 point question is so weird
