On a date with a lovely fella who is a good cook. We've been out before and had a fab time.

Just been presented with a plate of steak and the smell of it is turning my stomach. There's no way I can eat it.

He's in the kitchen (faffing). No pets about to slip it to... Should I shove it in my bag?

Coming back, beb

AntennaReborn · 10/01/2020 19:22

Have you tasted it yet OP?

AfterSchoolWorry · 10/01/2020 19:23

Ugh, philistine probably cooked it in 'vegetable' oil 🤮🤢

PhoneLock · 10/01/2020 19:24

Perhaps she's dead?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 10/01/2020 19:28

Maybe he’s a crap cook?

Butterymuffin · 10/01/2020 19:28

She's now having to eat it

QuestionableMouse · 10/01/2020 19:29

Omg that wasn't fun at all

Literally put it in my mouth and knew I was going to vomit. Had to race to the loo ☹️

I hate being sick and it always makes me cry so he was panicking because I was crying and he didn't know what was going on.

I admit the steak smelled awful to me (through snotty tears) and he said he thought so too but because I hadn't said anything thought it was just him.

This will make a funny story in time to come!

MrsScrubbithatescleaning · 10/01/2020 19:32

So he cooked potentially gone off meat as a special date meal and was waiting for you to guess??

Tell him he needs to stump up for a decent takeaway.

Have you been to the Sistine chapel recently?

ShoesandmoreShoes · 10/01/2020 19:34

Confused Grin LOL this is going to be a great story for the grandkids!

TimeForPlentyIn2020 · 10/01/2020 19:34

I would ask him where he bought it. If super fancy butchers/Harrods foodhall I would assume it was aged or summats and me too philistine to appreciate. If aldi/bloke in a van in a carpark I would say I wasn't sure about the smell. Couldn't eat it though. If it gives you the shits you won't want to be shagging later - so best be honest Smile

TimeForPlentyIn2020 · 10/01/2020 19:35

Gosh, that's quite the reaction!

frankincenseandmur · 10/01/2020 19:36

This will make for a funny story

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 10/01/2020 19:36

Oh, poor both of you! I hope you're feeling better now and have ordered a take-away!

CastleCrasher · 10/01/2020 19:38

You must really like him to even try it if it smelt off! Grin hope you're enjoying a takeaway now!

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 10/01/2020 19:38

So he cooked rancid steak that smelled rancid but presented it to you instead of mentioning it, you go to eat in instead of mentioning it - I think you guys may have some shared issues with communication!!

Hope you feel better soon..

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 10/01/2020 19:38

Honestly your an adult woman ffs, why did you eat something that didn’t smell right. You have a mouth all you had to do was say something Confused

Well this date is ruined now you’ve thrown up (after just a mouthful?) and cried, so just go home.......

Also it’s very ill mannered to be on your phone when someone has cooked a meal and then again to inform mumsnet you’ve been sick. Weird all round really

BlueEyedGreeness · 10/01/2020 19:39

Bond over it. Maybe it will be a wedding anecdote in a few years 😂

QuestionableMouse · 10/01/2020 19:40

@TimeForPlentyIn2020

I've always cried after throwing up, ever since I was a baby apparently.

He's gone off to the shop for a loaf of bread so he can make toast.

Also I wasn't on my phone in front of him more than once. He is a faffer and kept going into the kitchen to do things so I was sneaking on my phone then.

sounds as if a conversation with him would have been more useful than spending the evening posting here.

dontgobaconmyheart · 10/01/2020 19:43

So over the top OP. Could literally have just said ' sorry but the meat smells a little off' or 'sorry but I'm feeling a little unwell and can't stomach a steak'. Surely better than the end result of looking a bit like you aren't in your right mind sobbing and vomiting Confused.

Stuff like this never makes sense, surely if you like someone or want a relationship with them you need to actually be able to be open and honest and feel comfortable having conversations. If the blimmin beef can't be spoken about then good luck to you both tbh.
