AIBU to think there’s no justification for eating meat and dairy any more?

People are educated now. People know that eating meat and dairy is disastrous for the planet. People know it’s causing an unprecedented climate crisis. People know it causes untold cruelty to animals.

So why are people still doing it? There is a vegan substitute for virtually every meat and dairy product you can think of. What is going on here?

The number of people I’ve seen on social media breaking their hearts over Australia shooting wild camels and horses because they drink too much water while still eating beef blows my mind.

Oh good, yet another sanctimonious, self-righteous preaching vegan.

You only needed one of those words, the others are synonyms.

Skyejuly · 09/01/2020 22:25

I think some people have facts wrong about what vegans eat lol

PPopsicle · 09/01/2020 22:26

BECAUSE ITS ABSOLUTELY YUMMY
and bacon sandwiches are simply gorgeous

Doggodogington · 09/01/2020 22:29

....but bacon is life 🤤

Fatasfooook · 09/01/2020 22:29

It’s much better to eat locally and seasonally than import vegan processed substitutes. Veganism isn’t the answer, responsible food sourcing is.

aroundtheworldyet · 09/01/2020 22:30

God I want a bacon now

pooboobsleeprepeat · 09/01/2020 22:31

I don’t know how people eat dairy. It has puss in it. There is a legal limit to how much puss milk can contain. But I’m the extremist for drinking oat milk!
Humans are not carnivores nor are gorillas.
Animals get tumours just like humans do. Pig tumours get ground up in to sausages ffs.
Most of mn are ignorant.

BackyardChickens · 09/01/2020 22:31

Might have to drive to McDonald’s Drive Thru.

aspoonfulofyourownmedicine · 09/01/2020 22:32
  1. Because I want don't want to
  2. I like meat and dairy
  3. I don't have to justify myself to you - or anyone else
  4. I do enough to reduce my carbon footprint, thank you very much
  5. What I choose to do is absolutely none of your business.
Trewser · 09/01/2020 22:32

I like milk. I don't care if it has 'pus' in it.

dementedpixie · 09/01/2020 22:32

It has puss in it

How did the poor cat get in there?!

Trewser · 09/01/2020 22:33

🤣

Westworld · 09/01/2020 22:34

**.Why can the wolves eat the sheep but we can't?

😂😂😂

ByeMF · 09/01/2020 22:34

Bloodmouths?!!!!!! Are you a journalist trying to stir up a good story?

Baileys4two · 09/01/2020 22:34

They're still eating meat because it tastes nice.

PPopsicle · 09/01/2020 22:34

@pooboobsleeprepeat

Did you just lean on your keyboard and type whatever random letters got hit?

Chocarocker · 09/01/2020 22:35

Responsibly sourced local meat and dairy products are in fact better for the environment that most vegan foods. Very little of UK farming is intensive like the American farms which are currently used within the recent TV/media campaigns. Much of the UK’s land is unsuitable for anything other than rearing beef/lamb due to geographical constraints and actually by removing these animals it would be detrimental to the environment. Plus it tastes lovely Smile

MonicaGB · 09/01/2020 22:36

I know who I'd rather hang out with. Bloodmouths unite! Grin

pooboobsleeprepeat · 09/01/2020 22:36

90% of soy production is for animal feed so people need to do their research. Your cows are being fed soy and palm oil from the amazon fucking rainforest.
A vegan diet isn’t unhealthy, it’s VEGETABLES.
Processed vegan food won’t give you cancer, processed meat will.
Do people not realise the rise in meat consumption correlates to the rise in cancer? But yet people are saying veganism is unhealthy?!

ChocolateCoins19 · 09/01/2020 22:37

Because I enjoy it.. Each to their own

cavabiensepasser · 09/01/2020 22:37

I don't care that animals die, so I'll continue eating them.

khaleesiofthegreatgrasssea · 09/01/2020 22:37

@letsghostdance Thanks for the link (some evidence! Smile). It literally says though that they are 'humanely gassed'. The OP said they are 'ground up alive'. It's that bit that I was saying sounds preposterous, given the welfare laws around avoiding unnecessary suffering, etc.

Abraid2 · 09/01/2020 22:38

Which vegetables are you going to grow on hills and mountains where sheep graze?

Notagainnnn · 09/01/2020 22:38

No amount of Tofu will make up for a big juicy steak. Nah. I like it. I don't care

PanicAndRun · 09/01/2020 22:39

Because my favourite vegetable is pork.Grin
