To ask has anyone had a ‘medium reading’ done that’s actually been pretty accurate?

Ok ok let me start by saying, my logical side of my head says ‘of course it’s not true, these are very clever people who take money from vulnerable people and are extremely well at picking up on things they’re saying’
I had one done last year, a moment of madness but I was feeling pretty crap at the time and I can only say I was desperate for some sort of peace.
This could all be a genuine coincidence, I absolutely get that but I’m just wondering has anyone else had a reading done where things they ‘predicted’ have happened?

Firstly I was told I would be moving residence very soon and I’d be a lot happier there- I thought absolutely not, I’ve not been in this property long and intend to stay at least 5 years as my landlord wanted a long letting.. one month later I got my notice from my landlord saying he needed the property back- I moved a month later and I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my new home..

She also asked me had my daughter been tested for autism and that she would be diagnosed and get the help she needs- weird thing to ask right? Funnily enough she was already being referred for this and I had my suspicions for months (absolutely nothing I would ever ever put on any social media so pure good guessing I suppose?)

She also told me to be careful with my purse, that I would lose it though not a massive amount of money. Guess who’s purse has gone missing this week? Yep, mine.

Also mentioned my partner (who I’ve been broken up with and having a terrible time with) had suffered a massive lose and was t himself- this is true, his friend committed suicide the year before.

All a big coincidence? Most likely, however I’m interested to see if anyone else had any experience with this?

@roselilly36 I agree! It’s a lot of money, but I’ve already done it, had it done in July last year (still getting use to saying last year for July 2019!) some of what she said was pretty accurate but it could all be guess work!

@ParkheadParadise I figured that from your username! I saw someone once when I was younger and was very impressed at the accuracy but it was abroad. I would love to try again with someone who comes recommended!

ParkheadParadise · 06/01/2020 21:31

@nomdunchien
My username is definitely a give away😂😂😂.
I will get her details from my friend tomorrow (she booked it ) and msg you.

nomdunchien · 06/01/2020 21:35

Brilliant thanks @Parkheadparadise 👍🏻

I can totally get on board with the people talking to you from the beyond the grave. Wanting to tell you things etc.
What I struggle with is the reading the future, how can they possibly know?! We have free will so could make loads of different decisions at key moments meaning they just cant know.

AutumnRose1 · 06/01/2020 21:57

insane I know what you mean but I guess she told me what decisions I’d make, to an extent.

Also, there’s stuff that happens in life that’s not about your decisions, stuff that just happens to you.

Insaneinthemembury · 06/01/2020 21:59

Yea, I dont disagree. I believe in God, ghosts, another world.
But I am logcial and the whole seeing into the future is a step too far. Maybe I should get one and see!

purplelila2 · 06/01/2020 22:51

Can someone recommend one? preferably phone reading.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 06/01/2020 22:54

Ive heard it said that you can change your path but not your destiny. Anyone else heard the same?

I’ve had some good & bad readings. In the last couple of years I’ve spent £100’s to hear answers to some questions. I’m not sure I’ve got them tbh. Partly I think. But it’s like an addiction.

I’m also getting cautious that I’m mixing with the unknown!

Cattenberg · 06/01/2020 23:05

I had a few readings in my troubled twenties. Most of the predictions were very wrong. One phone psychic did guess correctly that I had IBS (weird), and I vaguely remember another reading that impressed me at the time. It was light in detail, though.

I’d love to meet a good psychic, but I think that many of them are charlatans practising cold reading and some are honest, but deluded. However, I’d be happy to be proven wrong.

Cattenberg · 06/01/2020 23:12

Paranormality by Professor Richard Wiseman has some information about the techniques used by fraudulent psychics.

AutumnRose1 · 06/01/2020 23:18

There are lots of things about frauds but none of them can explain why you get the odd specific very correct thing.

I still really want another reading but wouldn’t pay so unless the past lady happens to cross my path...! 😂

Oliversmumsarmy · 07/01/2020 00:15

Ive heard it said that you can change your path but not your destiny

To some extent I can see that. But if you can have some warnings and can choose an easier path for your life why wouldn’t you take it.

If the choices we make dont mean anything then what harm can it do if we get to where we are meant to be

Personally there have been times in my life where I could have done with someone else’s take on my life.
Where someone from outside could have told me if you take path A then you will meet X and it will all be good or if you choose Path B you will do Y and you will spend years doing stuff you hate but won’t be able to break free
Hence why I have tried to use mediums/psychics before and failed.

I am not a crazed killer and I don’t think I am some evil person. So I have no idea what it is they are picking up that means they refuse to read me

CharlottesPleb · 07/01/2020 00:37

There are lots of things about frauds but none of them can explain why you get the odd specific very correct thing.

Basic reading/magic techniques will achieve this, as will intelligent guesswork and coincidence.

You can certainly communicate if you go asking to, but you are communicating with is not benign human beings on the other side.

AutumnRose1 · 07/01/2020 01:13

Charlotte I wasn’t talking about spirit mediums, sorry, it’s getting confusing. I meant fortune tellers.

squeamishsquamish · 07/01/2020 01:19

Yes, I have. Several.

earsup · 07/01/2020 01:57

I went over 30 years ago as a friend dropped out from a group...was very accurate and gave me exact dates I would change jobs, work abroad , countries I would work and live in etc and flat and house numbers I would live at etc..these were allocated by my then employer abroad so I never had any say in that..she was wrong about my father's death though.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 07/01/2020 07:47

Sort of agree with you Charlotte - that’s why I said I was cautious. My religious SIL thinks we are inviting evil spirits in when we go to psychics/mediums whatever you like to call them.

I forgot that I’m at least 4 separate occasions (different mediums) they’ve been unable to read me & taken no money. Not told Me a pack of Lies just said they couldn’t read me & nothing was coming through.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 07/01/2020 08:06

I would like to go to a medium but I do have quite a significant social media presence for various reasons. I wonder if I could book under a different name.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 07/01/2020 08:07

Also, for those who do feel that they have second sight I wonder about language. I went to a few group events years and year ago when the only person close to me who had passed away didn’t speak any English.

I know it’s not rational (or real) but I do wonder.

GinisLife · 07/01/2020 08:21

Me and a friend went to one. No bad time in life. We went because we could. Told my friend we were going to Blackpool. No way, both hated the place. A month later we were invited to a colleagues hen do - in Blackpool.

Told me I was going to Tenerife. No, not happening, no desire to go. 10 days later a friend asked me to go on holiday with her and her daughter. They'd already booked but I could add a flight to stay in their self catering accommodation. Yep, in Tenerife.

Spooky of all was she said she could see 2 people both passed over. One older than the other and holding hands. Descriptions were of my mum and my Nan. Apparently they were waiting for E.......My Dads sisters name begins with E and wasn't well at the time so I thought of her. What I didn't think of was that my nans sisters name also began with E and she was older. She unexpectedly passed away in her sleep 6 weeks later - right at the time I was sitting in Tenerife airport waiting to come home.

duvetneeded · 07/01/2020 08:46

Eerily accurate for me.

I went in one day randomly. Didn't phone up beforehand or anything. Just a walk in. Didn't have to give a name or anything like that. Just sat down. Also, there was nothing going on in my life. No upheaval. No big decisions to be made. Nothing like that. I just thought it might be fun. It was something I wanted to try just once.

I was a closed book. Didn't give anything away verbally, and was conscious of my body language (I was skeptical I suppose. And well, I still am. Definitely a lot of useless ones out there). And I didn't wear any identifying outfit or anything like that.

Anyway, she told me sooooo many things that came true. At the time, none of it made sense. But it all happened. And not because she planted the seed or anything like that. She just told me about things that were gonna happen to other people, things I would witness in person. These things happened!

Then, she spoke about a man I was going to meet. She gave a first name. Loads of descriptions about him. I thought she was talking about a guy I already knew (same name). I thought the description was kinda accurate, a few things that didn't quite add up. But that's just what I thought.

I wrote it all down afterwards, and promptly moved on with my life. Never thought of the "man" again, as I thought she was just describing someone I already knew.

About 6 weeks later, I met a man through work. Went by a nickname. I didn't know his real name. I fell for him, hard! Eventually, learned his real name. At this stage, we were already seeing each other. Months and months passed, and I came across the notes I had taken from the reading. Sure enough, it was his name. And the descriptions she gave matched him to a T.

My only problem is, I cannot remember what she said about "the man". I have NO IDEA if she said things to the effect of "be careful" or "it's going to be wonderful". I think she said the man would be important to me. But cannot for the life of me remember what she said after that!! It still bugs me to this day Grin

It's been over a year now. I'm considering going back! Hopefully she won't remember me (paid in cash if that matters). And I never gave away any personal details while in the reading.

I do believe though that there are many many "readers" out there that are total bollox though! Sometimes you get lucky and find a good one, sometimes not!

Also, she was not very expensive at all. It was just a side business to her.

(Not based in UK sorry, in case anyone is wondering).

Anyone with legitimate psychic ability could have made $1m by passing James Randi’s psychic challenge and yet instead they’re charging a few quid for readings and parties.

Passthebubbly · 07/01/2020 09:10

I went to one a few weeks ago, it was a little coffee shop where you get a reading for £10. Was not planned as was was supposed to be going to my friends house but she was running late so let her there instead.

Anyway point is it wasn’t booked and guy did not even know my name.

He right away got my dad through who I lost last year. He started speaking exactly like my dad and used specific words he would have used. He sounded exactly like him and also told me everything that is going on in another area of my life. He was spot on also with my friends reading. He said to me your dad arranged this today for you to be here as you needed this so much. It was true and he then refused to take a penny from me. As I was leaving he said “your dad loves the necklace” - I wasn’t wearing it but had his ashes made into a necklace last year.

Zaphodsotherhead · 07/01/2020 09:17

There are lots of things about frauds but none of them can explain why you get the odd specific very correct thing

because the scattergun approach, combined with confirmation bias, means that eventually they will hit on something and you will remember that hit, but not the misses as much. And sometimes afterwards you retcon misses to more nearly fit with what you wanted to hear.

You should always get a recording of your session, to avoid mentally manipulating what you were told to fit what you wish you'd been told. The human memory is very very fallible.

I know how these things work. And even I, with the psychic ability and willingness of a breeze block, have occasionally 'known' something about someone without them telling me. Luck, body language, some innate telepathic 'thing', who knows? But I've been able to ask someone how their cat is, or their poorly relative, or warn them against getting a new kitchen fitted - only to hear 'how did you know?' No idea, but it certainly wasn't a voice telling me...
