To ask has anyone had a ‘medium reading’ done that’s actually been pretty accurate?

Ok ok let me start by saying, my logical side of my head says ‘of course it’s not true, these are very clever people who take money from vulnerable people and are extremely well at picking up on things they’re saying’
I had one done last year, a moment of madness but I was feeling pretty crap at the time and I can only say I was desperate for some sort of peace.
This could all be a genuine coincidence, I absolutely get that but I’m just wondering has anyone else had a reading done where things they ‘predicted’ have happened?

Firstly I was told I would be moving residence very soon and I’d be a lot happier there- I thought absolutely not, I’ve not been in this property long and intend to stay at least 5 years as my landlord wanted a long letting.. one month later I got my notice from my landlord saying he needed the property back- I moved a month later and I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my new home..

She also asked me had my daughter been tested for autism and that she would be diagnosed and get the help she needs- weird thing to ask right? Funnily enough she was already being referred for this and I had my suspicions for months (absolutely nothing I would ever ever put on any social media so pure good guessing I suppose?)

She also told me to be careful with my purse, that I would lose it though not a massive amount of money. Guess who’s purse has gone missing this week? Yep, mine.

Also mentioned my partner (who I’ve been broken up with and having a terrible time with) had suffered a massive lose and was t himself- this is true, his friend committed suicide the year before.

All a big coincidence? Most likely, however I’m interested to see if anyone else had any experience with this?

I'm going to see a very good well known one in 2 weeks!! 😬

Mlou32 · 05/01/2020 18:23

I had a reading done online. Now my social media name isn't in my real name (due to security reasons in relation to my line of work) and anyway, my name is common as muck and I also don't have that much of an online presence so even if she did try to search for me, there, 1. there would be a good few people with the same name as me and 2. she wouldn't find much anyway.

The first thing she said was 'I have three people in spirit here with me, Donald, Ben and Maisie'. Donald was my grandad who passed away a year previously, Ben was my Dad who had passed away 4 years ago and Maisie was my gran who had also passed away around a year ago.

She said I can see a pregnancy for you, in March/April. I can also see the numbers 6 in relation to this pregnancy. I then went on to conceive in March and get a positive pregnancy test on 6th April.

There were about 3 other specific things that were correct that I don't really feel comfortable saying on here, but I genuinely believe this woman was the real deal.

I went to another psychic who, as soon as I sat down, asked my what the niggling pain was in my left ovary. I knew what she was talking about but I didn't let on as i don't like to give anything away. She said "you'll need to have a small procedure for it and after that, you're going to conceive". Turns out that it was an ovarian cyst (I knew at the time that I had pain but I hadn't went to see about it so didn't have a clue what it was and upon going to the GP and going through investigations, it turns out it was a cyst and endometriosis. I got a procedure done to deal with it and low and behold, found myself pregnant shortly thereafter.

I have however been to a few charlatans who didn't come out with anything other than generic nonsense. But I do believe there are people out there with a genuine gift.

PositiveVibez · 05/01/2020 18:23

I went to see Derren Brown a few years ago now in his Svengali show.

Iirc, a balloon was thrown randomly thrown round the room and the last person ended up catching it - he had guessed within a matter of a minute that the guy had been fired for wanking at work 😂

But the spine chilling one was the woman who was in the audience who got 'picked' as a message was coming through for her. I think he guessed it was her dead mother, he 'knew' her name and also gave her a very personal message 'that nobody else could have known' - erm, well he did. From guesswork, that took him minutes.

He done this to prove that mediums are bollocks and the power to 'read' vulnerable people and to take money from them, is cruel and a powerful tool to have.

Also I know these were not stooges as my brother was picked out of the audience for one of his mind games.

SpicyRibs · 05/01/2020 18:46

Mediums are vile disgusting lowlifes who prey on the vulnerable and didn't ought to be allowed to operate in this country.

Agreed tbh.

cleanasawhistle · 05/01/2020 18:52

I bumped into a lady I know who is a medium.
We dont know each other well always stop to say hi how are you etc.
Just heading to my car one day and I offered her a lift home.

Before she got out the car she said she had seen me at the farmers market last week and a women had come through to her and she was certain the info and messages were for me.

I asked how could she knew that in a room full of people. The lady L said she had been drawn to me.Anyway L said I think I have the same lady with me now and I have a message from her. L came out with so many messages, info, pet names etc. My grandad had a very unusual job and she told me things relating to that and much more.

I certainly was convinced.

KTheGrey · 05/01/2020 19:03

@Iamatwatofthehighest
So sorry you had that happen to you - like a pincer movement of abusers when you were so vulnerable. Flowers

Hope you know you are worth more than either and both of them and will trust your own instincts now and see how your life improves as you do what you feel to be right for you.

HeresMe · 05/01/2020 19:04

Agreed tbh.

Peddlers of nonsense.

That's why I can't understand why people are asking for good ones there isn't any, what seems personal is very vague in reality.

None ever took James Randi up on the 1million challenge.

Sally Morgan was famously caught out numerous times.

Lovebeingmama · 05/01/2020 19:11

I’ve had a few readings where it came up with pretty standard guess work for my age - pregnancy, moving etc. Wasn’t really convinced.
I’ve been to one though where I found what she said difficult to dismiss. I went in sceptical and did not feed the messages with my chat. The first thing she mentioned was I’d lost a girl in pregnancy, A possible guess. Then she said my gran ‘Ann’ wanted to speak with me ...my gran was called Ann...but I reasoned that it’s a fairly common name either as a first or second name. Then my she had my grandad said ‘pops back’. My grandad used to say this every time he came home. Quite an unusual thing to say. I just don’t understand how she would have guessed this.

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 20:04

Positive would wanking guy have been a plant?!

Also, presume tickets for the show were mostly booked online?

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 20:06

Mentioning challenges, are we thinking of mediums or psychics?

I’ve no comment to make about mediums, particularly those who charge.

Ahhashaker · 05/01/2020 20:17

Me and friend once went to an annual fair and got a reading from a lady in a caravan. I was very sceptic but she said a lot that really resonated.

She told me that there was an older man in my love life that had blonde hair, and blue eyes and was a foot taller than me. Whom I was unsure about, but by the end of the year I was going to move in with him and he was going to prove his worth. I was in fact on and off with a man of her description and was also contemplating cutting it off as I just didn’t feel it. By the end of the year I had moved in with him and DP really did prove himself.

She also told me I was to have 3 boys but would never hold one. The first I had conceived the year before. I was 19 when I went for the reading so very unlikely she could have guessed I actually did have a miscarriage a year the before.

She said the job I was in was what I would spend my life doing but I would progress quickly. Very generic and I dismissed it because I was in a shitty student bar job. A year and a half later I made a huge leap in my career in the same industry and now run a national department.

I would love to go to another medium to see if they say anything similar.

Lucifer666 · 05/01/2020 20:23

I never used to believe in them and thought it was a con then a friend dragged me along to a medium session (cost was about £2). The medium hosting told me stuff that was so inaccurate it just proved what I thought until it was finished that is. I was outside smoking with a friend and waiting for other friend when one of the ladies who ran the sessions came out to me and said she didn't want to scare me but she had someone very insistent wanting to "talk" with me. She then told me it was my nan and guessed a few easy things (I thought ok here we go guesswork) she then went on to describe a china pattern on a tea set which my nan had. She told me the number 10 was important as was the month of June and then described a pattern on a picture frame my mum has I told her my mum had loads of pictures up so she drew the pattern and my jaw dropped because it was so detailed and the pattern was very distinctive and said frame was about 12 years old I couldn't confirm the rest she told me so I asked my mum and told her about what the medium said to me and my mum confirmed that June 10th was my nan's birthday which even I didn't know (I was 5 when she passed away).

That conviced me some are genuine because there is no way that woman could have known about the picture frame pattern, or the other stuff she told me it was very specific stuff and I could only confirm the picture frame my mum confirmed the rest was all true I was so freaked out I never went back again 🤣

dayswithaY · 05/01/2020 20:27

Yes I went to one with no expectations at all. It was years before social media and she only knew my first name. She told me all about my friend who had died about 10 months before - I hadn't asked. She told me her name, the husband's name, her mother's name, all correct first time, no hesitation. She also told me facts about the funeral that she could never have guessed.

I have no idea how she did it, but she did. All the people that say it's rubbish are just making a generalisation. There are some con artists out there but there are people, like me, who have had genuine experiences that cannot be denied. I've never seen a ghost or a UFO but I cannot categorically say they don't exist, I wouldn't be so arrogant.

To all those who say "why can't they predict the lottery numbers" - it really doesn't work like that. You can't summon up specific information from the future. It was explained to me that its like distant echoing voices all calling out to get a message through. Some, the medium can pick up on and communicate, others are too vague or faint. There are many things in the world that can't be explained or made sense of. It's nonsense to think that everything is black and white.

tillytoodles1 · 05/01/2020 20:35

My son went to see a medium in the local pub. He was so impressed that she knew the name of his sister and where we'd been on holiday. When he told me her name, I burst out laughing and told him that her house backed on to ours. I used to chat to her daughter quote often.

HeresMe · 05/01/2020 20:50

I have no idea how she did it, but she did. All the people that say it's rubbish are just making a generalisation.

They aren't making a generalisation it is utter rubbish, next you will be telling me that Nigerian prince who wants to give me his money is real.

Watch a few videos on cold readings, people's memory's aren't reliable they twist memory's to believe what they will. And they make vague generalisations but people think are personal.

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 20:52

I’m confused now

I think of fortune tellers and mediums as two completely different things but looking at people who charge, it doesn’t seem like it.

The woman I saw was just a fortune teller, I mean that I know of.

CtrlU · 05/01/2020 20:53

I’ve seen a few and they are real and have been spot on with accuracy.

dayswithaY · 05/01/2020 21:34

I was told specific names and facts. It wasn't vague. I know what I heard and I'm not stupid. Open your mind.

LilQueenie · 05/01/2020 22:36

AutumnRose1 a fortune telller is more of a psychic rather than a medium but you can have both skills.

Elieza · 05/01/2020 23:09

Yup, specific names and facts here too, no pissing around with random ones, straight up “Who is Xxx. Who is xxx” (my grandmother and grandfather). Out of all the names in the world what’s the odds of the two being said together. High odds against id say! And a bunch of other accurate and specific stuff with a few random bits and bobs too. I write it all down so I can’t misremember.

I think people sometimes need to have a good reading done to believe in it though. Although sometimes even then they still don’t because they are afraid or it goes against their religious beliefs or something.

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 23:14

I was just told things. There were no questions allowed till she’d finished
talking.

What is special about a person who asks questions?

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 23:14

I mean, I wasn’t allowed to ask questions, but she was never going to.

I know of others who went to her and that’s her MO.

BarbedBloom · 05/01/2020 23:33

Only once, she was known for being genuine and wouldn't accept any money from clients. This was before social media, in a different area from where we lived and had never met her before. It was uncanny how accurate she was. I don't want to put specifics here as they are identifying, but she told me things and spoke about things literally no one knew apart from myself. She also correctly predicted several uncommon and major events that happened in our family and told me my now husband's unusual middle name ten years before I met him and correctly gave two names that were important to him - his dad and his pet. She also told me we wouldn't live near each other, which was correct and that he would be an artist, which is also true. She also correctly predicted we would relocate together to another country but it wouldn't work out and we would be back within 6 months. Lastly she warned me about a health condition I was only diagnosed with last year.

I don't believe most, think they are vultures or con artists but to this day i believe she was genuine. There was no way she could have known certain things and uncanny how she was so right about my husband.

Stampy84 · 06/01/2020 07:26

@HeresMe some are written down, that’s not using your memory to remember- mine was written down so I can look back on it

Roselilly36 · 06/01/2020 07:39

I wouldn’t pay that sort of money OP. I have had three readings now at my local spiritualist church, £15 p, you just give your first name. DH was a non believer, he was determined to prove it was rubbish, he went for a reading, he couldn’t believe how accurate it was, just like his dad talking to him. My only advice would be prepared for a lot of emotion, a good medium won’t need any details from you, as with everything in life their are good and bad people. Give it a go if it’s not for you, then that’s fine, but £50, wow that’s a lot of money but your choice of course. Good luck.
