To ask has anyone had a ‘medium reading’ done that’s actually been pretty accurate?

Ok ok let me start by saying, my logical side of my head says ‘of course it’s not true, these are very clever people who take money from vulnerable people and are extremely well at picking up on things they’re saying’
I had one done last year, a moment of madness but I was feeling pretty crap at the time and I can only say I was desperate for some sort of peace.
This could all be a genuine coincidence, I absolutely get that but I’m just wondering has anyone else had a reading done where things they ‘predicted’ have happened?

Firstly I was told I would be moving residence very soon and I’d be a lot happier there- I thought absolutely not, I’ve not been in this property long and intend to stay at least 5 years as my landlord wanted a long letting.. one month later I got my notice from my landlord saying he needed the property back- I moved a month later and I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my new home..

She also asked me had my daughter been tested for autism and that she would be diagnosed and get the help she needs- weird thing to ask right? Funnily enough she was already being referred for this and I had my suspicions for months (absolutely nothing I would ever ever put on any social media so pure good guessing I suppose?)

She also told me to be careful with my purse, that I would lose it though not a massive amount of money. Guess who’s purse has gone missing this week? Yep, mine.

Also mentioned my partner (who I’ve been broken up with and having a terrible time with) had suffered a massive lose and was t himself- this is true, his friend committed suicide the year before.

All a big coincidence? Most likely, however I’m interested to see if anyone else had any experience with this?

Parkhead I know your situation. It’s in no way comparable. Flowers

Stampy84 · 05/01/2020 16:18

@imatwatofthehighest (felt so wrong typing that user name!)

I’m so sorry you’ve had such a terrible time, I truly hope things pick up for you and that you can start living the best life you possibly can.

Aside from the shonky fortune tellers at the seaside I've never seen a "real" medium.

But I have had two complete strangers (unknown to each other) tell me in considerable detail that they can see my guardian angel.

They have both described my guardian angel in very specific and identifiable detail, they both mentioned the place, by name, where he lived (tiny village in the middle of nowhere), and both people dropped their comments into conversation.

It was very strange. Both of these instances happened at opposite ends of the country and within a couple of weeks.

Since then my guardian angel regularly gets mentioned by people I meet.

Nishky · 05/01/2020 16:22

@Toooldtobearsed2 to perfectly honest I can’t remember! I liked him though. Saw him twice I think.

Elieza · 05/01/2020 16:26

I’ve been told very specific things that nobody knew, I didn’t drop hints about these things (in one I had totally forgotten about it until she said it in the reading) and that’s how I am 100% sure that’s it’s not codswallop IN SOME CASES.

However like all professionals or tradespeople, you get good hairdressers and bad ones, good joiners and bad ones, good spirit mediums and bad ones - and in all cases people who say the can do joinery or whatever and are total liars flying by the seat of their pants with no aptitude for it at all.

ParkheadParadise · 05/01/2020 16:27

@AutumnRose1
I was just curious to why you would want to know that. What if they told you she would pass away soon. How would you feel about that.

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 16:32

Parkhead I would plan my life completely differently. I missed out on so much because of what happened with my dad, and my choice, admitted, to stay close enough to parents to always be in hand to help.

If mum is going to be like her brother and do another 15 years of being hale and hearty, I can take in more work, I can move away etc etc. Like I should have done when dad was first ill.

I realise most people wouldn’t take the advice of a fortune teller over the advice of a medic 😂

If they told me mum would pass away soon, I’d carry on making the choices I make now.

Fr0g · 05/01/2020 16:41

Mediums & Psychics always something I've been curious about - I had an interesting reading in my teens.
Can anyone recommend one - ideally London, or easily reachable from London?

lrwe · 05/01/2020 16:43

I had one done years ago. Thought it was a load of bollocks and went to be told that my boyfriend (now husband) would be the love of my life.

Forgot all about it and found a transcript I sent to my husband that mentioned we'd live in Dubai. I never ever thought of living in Dubai, didn't want to move, thought it was bull.

2013 we moved to Dubai.

ParkheadParadise · 05/01/2020 16:45

@AutumnRose1
I understand. When my mum died they told us for months before she wouldn't see the night out. We were round that bed for weeks, at one point my mum asked if she was dead yet😀 we told her no, she replied this is bloody awful and went back to sleep.
My mum always believed no one goes before their time.

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 16:45

Also I'd love to know how long I'm going to live! That would help with planning a life too!

MulticolourMophead · 05/01/2020 16:45

The other cousin went in opened her hand and the woman asked her to leave in fact she got quite aggressive, pushing her out wouldn't touch her money.
This was my aunt hazel (never met her). 6 months later aunt hazel was arrested for murder of her baby. No one even knew she was pregnant.
She committed suicide while in prison.

That "medium" made a big mistake there. If the pregnancy had been revealed at the reading, your aunt had a chance of being helped and the murder and suicide averted. She must have been in a bad way, poor woman.

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 16:48

xpost Parkhead "We were round that bed for weeks, at one point my mum asked if she was dead yet😀 we told her no, she replied this is bloody awful and went back to sleep"

oh dear, your poor mum. My dad died after a relatively short illness - probably felt like forever to him and certainly did to me - and one day he asked me "where is god?"

I had no idea if he meant in order to save him or take him away! I don't believe in god so it was a particularly odd question.

StrawberryFizz26 · 05/01/2020 17:07

Can anyone recommend anyone in Cheshire?

WhoisitnowRalph · 05/01/2020 17:08

I had one done because my (very dear, very vulnerable and distressed) friend wanted a reading - she had to gather a few people so the woman could come and do an evening of readings at her house. I'm a sceptic but still relatively open minded, so far from being at a crossroads I was just making up the numbers! She was oddly accurate about a lot of things, telling me something I wasn't even aware of but which my DM confirmed later. As me, my siblings and DM are too cynical long in the tooth to use SM she can't have found anything of relevance there, so I have no idea how she knew certain things - I have step siblings so we are not directly connected by name either.

However. Fast forward a few years and the same friend and I attended one of this same woman's evenings at a local pub. She did lots of impressive readings, not a dry eye in the house, etc etc. Came to my friend, and told her that her father (from whom she is estranged) was "in spirit". Friend was distraught - she'd heard he had been unwell but was agonising over whether or not to contact him, and now it seemed she was too late.

We went home and I encouraged her to do some digging to check on his current status.

Turned out the guy is alive and reasonably well. Which has of course now somewhat weakened friend's belief in psychic readings, which she has taken much comfort from in the last 10 years...

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 17:11

I think going at a vulnerable time is a terrible idea.

My mum wanted to see a medium or go to a spiritualist church after her sister died and after dad died. I told her "I'm not going to tell you what to do because I don't do that - but I advise against it and absolutely won't come with you".

I think that's very different that going for curiosity.

Strongmummy · 05/01/2020 17:21

The only thing that has some weight is the autism test. Everything else you’ve mentioned is so generic it could apply to anyone.

It’s all nonsense. Watch Derren Brown

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 17:23

Strong sorry, who has mentioned generic things?

I did watch Derren Brown. IIRC there were a lot of assumptions made based on things like clothes, and also there were questions asked? The psychic I saw didn't allow speaking until after she made all her declarations Grin

ParkheadParadise · 05/01/2020 17:28

I know that when I went 2yrs ago if she had mentioned my dd I would have broke down and probably left. Thinking about it afterwards I did think it was strange that she didn't mention her.
When we go next month I really hope she does talk about her, in fact I know I will be devastated if she doesn't.

stuckinthemiddlewithtwats · 05/01/2020 17:31

Years ago I paid for a few and all were absolutely shite. But at one event a guy came up to me and gave me a load of info - he was so good my mum and I tried to book in with him but he wasn't taking many bookings that night as he'd been recently ill, so he wasn't doing it to get money from us. He actually approached me twice that night with info and no way could he have known it by guessing,
He gave me actual names of people that I needed to be wary of (work colleagues) and things that they would say or do which all turned out to be correct.

He also gave me personal information that no one else knew.

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 17:33

Parkhead oh you're going again? I hope that is a good thing for you. Tbh you can already see from my comments that I'd be concerned about someone going in your situation.

Ralph "Fast forward a few years and the same friend and I attended one of this same woman's evenings at a local pub. She did lots of impressive readings, not a dry eye in the house, etc etc."

If someone has an audience, I'd assume there were a lot of plants.

Brimful · 05/01/2020 17:34

There's no such thing as psychic.

'Mediums' are either scammers or they believe their own shit.

Indie139 · 05/01/2020 17:40

I had 2 video readings done recently. both said I will find love and gave the exact same month. we will see what happens.

my mum had a reading before I was born. the lady told her that there was a little girl sitting on her shoulder holding flowers and that she would have a daughter. my mum brushed this off as she didn't want any more kids but not long after fell pregnant with me. she was also told that she would bump into an old male friend who wears a uniform to do with travel, not long after she bumped into an old friend and hes a pilot

ParkheadParadise · 05/01/2020 17:40

@AutumnRose1
My DH feels the same as you.
We booked it 10mths ago. February was the first time she had any appointments.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/01/2020 17:51

I’m sure most are a con, but I’ve heard of one such person who’s told a relative of mine astonishing things about a distant relative who’d died far away - things she couldn’t possibly have known, long ago happenings that were known to the family, but could never have been on SM. She said these things after handling an object that had belonged to the dead relative.

This person was unpaid, It was not a formal reading, more during the course of a chat. She does not do paid readings but is known to have such abilities.
