To ask if you think there will be a second coming?

This is inspired by the new Netflix show Messiah, about a second coming.

I really hope this doesn’t upset or offend anyone and people can share their beliefs and thoughts openly and without prejudice or judgement as I know this can be very sensitive for some people.

Following on from —binge— watching this series I did a bit of googling and it seems both Christian and Muslim regions predict this. (Not researched if any others do yet)

I’m not very well informed about different regions but the concept of this programme has really interested me, I find it fascinating that this could, maybe? actually happen!

Do you think there could be a second coming?!

(And what would it actually mean for the world? A rise in consciousness? Mass healing???)

YABU - no don't be so daft!
YANBU - yes, this could happen, why not?!

I'm on episode 5 of the Messiah and starting to get bored. Please tell me it ramps up again

It really doesn't, its a pretty boring series.

@SirChing you'r calling ME anti-Semitic? I was pointing out that in your haste to dismiss the events I was referring to in the bible you are saying that the Jews who celebrate the passover made it up. There is NO Jewish conspiracy there's just one Christian having a tantrum.

I really can't put it down to reading ability as you managed to be quite eloquent so far so you must be trying this on out of anger.

You can read it again and apologise any time you like.

CardinalSin · 14/01/2020 16:45

SirChing is one of those typical Christian who gets offended about something that wasn't there when he can't answer the particular point. It's a well known avoidance tactic, strangely often used by the religious (with notable exceptions - MadHairDay for example).

What you posted was not in any way antisemitic, merely pointing out a gaping logical hole in his arguments. His reaction is rather more telling...

BoyoMama11 · 14/01/2020 16:57

There was a second cumming in my room last night.

LastTrainEast · 14/01/2020 19:13

@CardinalSin thank you. Ironically early on when SirChing and I were discussing it amicably I did say this:

I really prefer to debate in a civilised manner and I don't hate believers, but only what they believe in.

However I'm not gentle when it comes to the belief itself so if someone starts a thread such as "Would we WANT a second coming" or "What do we think of god" you might then find yourself grabbing the old pitchfork and torch and yelling "Kill the Blasphemer"

:)

roisinagusniamh · 14/01/2020 20:34

Hmm....you do need to apologise SirChing.
It's the 'Christian' thing to do.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 14/01/2020 22:53

Anyone able to say when the second coming is scheduled and what it will involve? Haven't we been waiting like 2000 years already, maybe its overdue?

dubiousdecision · 16/01/2020 10:01

@IamTheMESSIAH

You are not the messiah ! You are a very naughty boy !

Sorry couldn't resist Grin

Skyejuly · 16/01/2020 11:06

I've got to episode 4 and am bored now.

roisinagusniamh · 19/01/2020 19:18

Just finished watching the Messiah....bit slow in places but worth persevering .
No spoilers intended but it sure does explore how gullible Christians are.

Maceki1098 · 20/01/2020 02:03

Of course there wont

mrshiddleston69 · 04/01/2023 13:27

It is coming!
Perspective: would you rather believe and be safe if it does happen or not believe and be damned to hell if it does. What have you got to lose? Christianity and faith in Jesus is not a religious set of dos and donts, this is what turns off people. It is a relationship with God with ups and downs and compromises and forgiveness. Just try it, just say Jesus if you're real reveal yourself to me, and he will. Open your heart, might be the best thing you've ever done DaffodilSmile

Pascal's wager has a deep flaw- what if you back the wrong horse?

Saying you may as well believe just in case, how do you know which god to choose?
If you choose the christian god and it turns out that Vishnu or Allah or Loki or Ganesh the elephant god was the "true " god- you are fucked.

Marigoldandivy · 04/01/2023 15:56

People have been expecting this from the time of Jesus’ death. His disciples expected this to happen in their lifetime. The fact that it hasn’t happened says something I think!

Isn't that why mark committed his memories (either personal ones, or taught to him) to writing, circa AD 65? Followed later by Matthew and then Luke? They had started to realise they could be dead before his return? (Plus all the apocryphal stuff.)

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 04/01/2023 20:05

Hm. Would that make this a zombie thread or a resurrection thread?
