Gift bags. They’re just a bit naff aren’t they?

A bit Clinton cards, Facebook, live laugh love.

A gift bag user would have guilty pleasures and definitely not give head.

(Plus they’re bad for the environment of course)

Still waiting to hear how they’re bad for the environment...

AnnDaloozier · 30/12/2019 15:02

Oh god @InsertFunnyUsername keep your tight arse out of it Shock

You can’t write on the card twice. Can you?
You don't write on it to start with. Gift bags are great. Treated well they last for many uses, so much better than tearing off wrapping paper. Though some people feel that tearing off the wrapping paper and "having lots of stuff to open" is the important thing.

Honeybee85 · 30/12/2019 15:02

I never iron anything and I love giftbags because I can’t be arsed to wrap anything in gift paper.

Also, I think they make gifts look more smart (no idea why).

Are you practicing your first stand-up routine on us?

You know:
"Flavoured coffee beans! What's that all about then, eh?!"

AnnDaloozier · 30/12/2019 15:03

Paper. manufacture. Wasteful

Plus people seem to wrap AS WELL

There ARE flavoured coffee beans? Who knew?

OP posts:
AnnDaloozier · 30/12/2019 15:03

So. Do you write on the card or not?

OP posts:
foamrolling · 30/12/2019 15:04

It does have that feel LaMarschallin.

I'm probably too common even for next directory if I'm honest

Isitme13 · 30/12/2019 15:04

One person has said they wrap as well.

And yes, I get paper, manufacture, waste etc - but that’s worse with wrapping paper, surely (unless you are one who carefully slits the sellotape and then irons and folds the paper for reuse Grin)

AnnDaloozier · 30/12/2019 15:05

Ha no. That’s my mother in law.

Ohdearohdearyme · 30/12/2019 15:05

I'd rather give a gift in a gift bag than a carrier bag, especially when giving the gift to the recipient out and about (so easier for them to carry home gifts).

I can't remember the last time I bought one either, my friends/family and I seem to just kind of rotate them between us.

Isitme13 · 30/12/2019 15:05

I don’t write on the card, because it’s already been written on by whoever gave the bag to me... tsk.

AnnDaloozier · 30/12/2019 15:05

Don’t you remove it?

OP posts:
MissSueDenim · 30/12/2019 15:06

I’ve been known to iron a gift bag Grin

Chochito · 30/12/2019 15:06

I use and re-use paper gift bags to try to save on the unnecessary waste from wrapping paper, Sellotape, tissue.

I try to buy plain-ish bags.

bruffin · 30/12/2019 15:06

I bought gift bags this year, amazing value from the local market (30 for £4 lined and with a real ribbon drawstring). Also got some lovely net ones that come with amazon gift wrap.

Crunchymum · 30/12/2019 15:07

I was shamed in the white co buying wrapping paper. Little girl behind me said how pretty the paper was, the mother explained to her they were doing Japanese style wrapping with old pieces of clothe as more environmentally friendly

I think I'd have turned round and said "really" to the mother. Because... Really? Who the fuck does this?

Love a gift bag me, I also don't iron much, maybe there is a correlation. I'm also undoubtedly common. Jesus, this wasn't a feel good thread to open, I'm now lazy, common and naff

Yep me too!

AnnDaloozier · 30/12/2019 15:07

Oh those net things you get jewellery in.

Isitme13 · 30/12/2019 15:07

Well yes, I remove it —if I remember to—

Just pointing out I can’t write in the card because someone else has already used it. SO inconsiderate!

Isitme13 · 30/12/2019 15:08

Grr strike through fail

Thehagonthehillwithtinsel · 30/12/2019 15:09

I used some this year that I was given last year, the recipients all are fully refolded and stashed them for next year.

ShagMeRiggins · 30/12/2019 15:09

You’re not only being unreasonable, you’re insulting my fellatio skills, which are nonpareil.

How very dare you, OP. How very dare you.

AlexaAmbidextra · 30/12/2019 15:09

Is OP still swigging the Christmas sherry? What a bizarre series of posts. Confused

Noflora · 30/12/2019 15:10

I untie and reuse tags eg when regathering in the Christmas bags I keep the tags on until the next year when I might use the same bag for the same recipient or I'll untie it and put it on the correct bag.
