Gift bags. They’re just a bit naff aren’t they?

A bit Clinton cards, Facebook, live laugh love.

A gift bag user would have guilty pleasures and definitely not give head.

(Plus they’re bad for the environment of course)

OP posts:

I use gift bags if meeting friend in a cafe for example. But I don't buy them I just reuse ones I or dc have been given. As for the tag. I rip off if used and don't bother tying a new one on.

However, there was nothing wrong with her grammar. Only people with perfect grammar cna pssi aruodn with grmamra and get away with it.

That rings a bell too - their grammar and spelling were both excellent.
It was the fact that "bra" was consistently spelled "vbra" throughout her long, pseudo-rambling post that gave away the fact she was stone-cold sober.

Stifledlife · 01/01/2020 09:47

We are on the 4th year of the same reusable gift bags.

We use stickers instead of tags and any sticky tape is removed before they are all flattened and put in a big bag ready for next year.

We have gone from a garbage bag or 2 of unrecyclable paper to a small handful of tape and stickers.

Wink about the rest...

You need to extract your head from up your arse before you suffocate.

Gift bags are infinitely re usable. Dont write on the card or take it off. They are not naff. The alternative is hand the present unwrapped? Wrapping paper is old hat, even so called recyclable is not really

This did make me laugh, @Pencilplantironingboard.

SecretWitch · 01/01/2020 14:57

Cod.....that would explain this unfunny, not clever post.

FoamingAtTheUterus · 01/01/2020 15:00

My gift bags are years old and are passed round..as.are the boxes........every year up put a FB post up thanking people who used gift bags and saved me a fortune 😂😂😂

NewName73 · 01/01/2020 17:11

I also thought Cod when I read this.

Really cannot be arsed though.

Pencilplantironingboard · 01/01/2020 18:07

@FOTTFSOFTFOASM I’m bad.
@NewName73 I know what you mean. It can’t be easy being superior to every Mumsnet member so I shouldn’t really have mentioned the poor love.

Casiloco · 01/01/2020 18:11

I used gift bags this year precisely BECAUSE they are much more environmentally friendly - easier to find with no plastic/glitter embedded, reusable (just change the card! ) and no need for sellotape (more plastic!)

Also, they are great if you don't want to spend 5/6 hours on something which is disposed of in seconds and says nothing about what you feel for the person in receipt of your gift.

I really couldn't care less what you think that says about my sexual skills or other preferences, since you've already given away quite a bit about what sort of person you are in your OP. Not someone whose opinion I would treat with any importance.

MissBarbary · 01/01/2020 18:15

What a stupid opening post. Gift bags are often very pretty and made of sturdy material so can be re-used. If it's obvious who the recipient is I don't write on the label so the recipient can re-use it. If the label has been used and it needs another label I'll add a new label or, if the recipient is getting a card, loosely sellotape the card to the bag.

Stupid OP. Gift bags are far more environmentally sound that wrapping paper. Every one I know recycles gift bags.

AmIthechristmasfairy · 01/01/2020 18:20

Cod. ?

I do understand

The style made me think chaos

MissBarbary · 01/01/2020 18:20

I make dh wear one over his head while I'm giving him head

Brilliant !

Blacksackunderthetreesfreeze · 01/01/2020 18:25

Blimey. I’ve never thought gift bags could be naff!

Blacksackunderthetreesfreeze · 01/01/2020 18:25

I always keep mine and reuse. I love receiving a gift bag so I can reuse it!

ultrablue · 01/01/2020 18:34

I love a gift bag plus you can you use them to take your wine, beer etc to the local curry house instead of turning up with it stashed in a Tesco carrier, much more classy.

Also good for sneaking your own booze in somewhere if you are saving the pennies haha x

jamdhanihash · 01/01/2020 18:50

The word naff is naff

VenusClapTrap · 01/01/2020 18:57

They obviously have never experienced the rush of adrenaline when you look inside your huge gift bag which is full of lots of different sized gift bags to see if you've got one which is just the right size for the present you've just bought

Ooooh this is me. So very satisfying. More so than oral sex, I find.

FelicisNox · 01/01/2020 21:46

I take it everyone has tum out of actual conversation if we're now gift bag shaming. Hmm

FelicisNox · 01/01/2020 21:47

run

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 01/01/2020 21:50

I just want to be on a thread where someone used the word "naff". I didn't think anyone said "naff" after 1985.

Devora13 · 01/01/2020 21:52

'I make dh wear one over his head while I'm giving him head.'

Ooh I just peed all over my Next Directory I laughed so much...

TooManyPaws · 01/01/2020 21:56

I must thank the OP for reminding me to buy gift bags this week to take presents to a Hogmanay party last night. I also used tissue paper without sellotape and didn't write on the tag. No slurs were cast on my sexual skills.
