When you go to stay at others houses who are not dog owners without your dogs do you make the bedding and soft furnishings stink of dogs?

If not why not?

Ok. You don’t like dogs or dog smell. And??? Confused

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 29/12/2019 20:27

Yes of course. I also cock my leg up and wee on everything and expect people to clean my turds up, though my real party piece is pulling myself along the floor while scratching my arse hole on the carpet. HTH OP.

I think maybe your friends need to wash themselves and their dogs a bit more.

Cherrysoup · 29/12/2019 20:35

I think I may well moult dog hair. I got into an Uber one day and they guy looked at me and just laconically said ‘Dog?’ I looked down, I was covered in hair. I didn’t dare move til I got out.

Vacuuming today, however, despite not pulling out my own hair by the handful, the vacuum stopped working due to the obscene amount of human hair in the roller. I vacuum daily so I don’t know how so much was there.🤷‍♀️

Whenever your DSC stay over run them a bath and give them clean pj's to wear before bed. Voila! No more doggy smell on the sheets. Get some throws to cover your sofa and throw them in the wash when DSC have gone home... C'mon it's not that difficult! 🙄

My dog sleeps in the utility room. She doesn't moult. I have clothes for dog walking and clothes to change into when I'm done with dog walking. My dog is allowed on the sofa in the evenings. I cover sofa with throws. Nobody can gauge how much your DSC stink of dogs. Every dog owner has different standards.

Every one of my dog walking friends stink of dogs when they are wearing their dog walking gear. None emanate a doggy smell once they have showered and put on clean clothes during evening meet ups in the pub

😂😂😂

I bet OP won't sleep for weeks thinking about that scenario! 🤣

My dc are more than capable of washing ddogs!!
YouTube op and take them ddoggy shopping for toiletries for ddogs!!

Sayhellotothethings · 29/12/2019 20:41

If it's that bad then your dh needs to chat to his ex about bathing the dog but I agree, throws on your sofas and wash the bedding when they go, can't take it out on the kids. People whose house stink of dog often get immune to the smell so they may not even know.

Bitchbadgerplease · 29/12/2019 20:43

My dog moults like a mofo so I guess perhaps a few stray dog hairs will be on my clothes /amongst my belongings if I'm staying somewhere. But I don't smell of dog and not like, mountains of fur. I cant figure how that can happen unless your friends are very unclean. Even then I am not sure I could make myself smell of dog if I tried.

Horse people can definitely leave a faint smell of nag in their wake and on your soft furnishings. But that’s what Febreeze is for, isn’t it?

Yeah, sorry about that. Personally I prefer a faint whiff of horse to the stink of Febreeze, but each to their own.

OP how much time do they spend with you and how much time with the doggy parent? Is doggy parent generally neglectful? Is there any SS involvement or any querying of the amount of time they miss school?

No SC involvement, not for lack of trying and I have asked DH to press further about the attendance.

We can’t get custody for various reasons, the main one being the kids want to stay with their mother and are old enough to choose and there are no safeguarding issues (according to SC not us).

My little Jack Russell is reading this over my shoulder and thinks this is beyond ridiculous.

Somanysocks · 29/12/2019 21:02

YABU as dogs smell of heaven and their hair is warm and cuddly GrinGrin

ButtercupGirI · 29/12/2019 21:42

You can't expect your sc to clean your house, you can get your dh to do it, do it yourself, get used to it or refuse to have the dog over.
