Funnily enough the first time I heard the phrase LGBTQIA was in the aforementioned Gavin and Stacey episode.

Still this. But everyone totally OK with the slut line seems to be the mn thing. The song isn't meant to be nice, but i could leave it to history too - but I am seriously judging all those up in arms about homophobia but totally OK with sexual slurs against women. I'm not OK with either homophobia or sexism but have been very firmly told that calling a woman a slut is fine on here.

If you’re trying to make a case about this then it’s best not to use rap music as a comparison as rap music is the most homophobic genre out there and all those offensive words you quoted (and including ‘faggot’) are censored on radio and television.

I didn’t say people can’t be more than one, I said people can’t be all at once.

It's context. I don't swear or use slurs at all in my daily language, but I love that song. It's also really clear, I think, that she's not implying that the make character is gay or that there is any association with sexuality.

I guess I come under the LGBTQ+ label - bi, never really felt like I was included, but hey, there you go technically I am - I always realised the way it was meant in the song was not homophobic. Context and all that. That doesn't mean the song can't be used by homophobic idiots in a way that is offensive though.

Personally I like the song.

I'd always assumed "cheap lousy faggot" referred to a pork based meatball with a high quantity of offal.

Makes more sense in the context than a homosexual slur.
