To wonder why everyone hates Katie Price?

News stories over Christmas have zoned right in on her misery ... people seem to be loving the fact that she’s having a shit time.

It’s like “Katie price to spend Christmas Day alone!”
“Katie Price loses mucky mansion days before christmas!”
Katie Price to spend Christmas without her kids!”

Then a ridiculous headline yesterday : “Huge row erupts on Christmas Day as Katie Price’s kids argue with Peter” ... turns out it was based on a daft instagram video Junior posted showing how he’d pranked his sister with a joke present and she pretended to be annoyed ...

I’m not a fan of Katie Price either but why the venom?

I feel bad for her. There was a story in my hometown's local paper showing what she used to look like (aged about 17) and what she looks like now. The point was that she'd had a lot of plastic surgery. However, even if she hadn't, she still wouldn't look 17 any more.

sadly she is like a lot of "celebrities" now days (GC Arg and that type) they have no real talent apart from having car crash lives.

She makes the cash from both good and bad publicity so I doubt she cares. As long as she remains in trash news sites she’s making a crust.

I don’t hate Katie Price.

However, I’m cynical with these stories. Either she is selling stories to the press, to make money, or the press are using are as cheap fodder.

I remember seeing a programme about a top paparazzi photographer. He arranged for an ‘adoring fan’ to give JUdy (of Richard and Judy fame) a bottle of wine in a park. He then took picture of her holding the bottle, and a story was publicised about her turning to drink. It was all fabricated.

Ok so she seems a bit selfish and is rubbish at relationships but she loves her children. This is a bit like the hatred the press had for Jacqueline Jossa (Celebrity winner) in that if it's a spirited woman she's a mouthy slag who deserves to be kicked to the kerb where as men are seen as forgivable tykes.

I don't hate her! Like Kerry Katona I think she had a rough start (different rough starts, but still) and they are both smart, driven, practical doers with low self-esteem when it comes to men and relationships.

Someone in my family in a nanny for a B list celebrity and on the day the celebrity isn’t actually working at her job she spends the day producing ‘news’ stories. She calls photographers and tells them where she is going to be. Like the hairdressers or Starbucks or jogging. Both she and the paps know exactly what each other want and are happy to provide each other with that.

I think she's lost and lonely.

She's spent her life measuring her worth by how many men chase after her, and being a sex symbol. Now that it's tailing off, she doesn't know what to do with herself and she's got no other means of bringing money in.

I feel sorry for her.

I hate the fact that people like her become so high profile and ‘public property’ when they haven’t really demonstrated talent beyond self-publicity. But have no emotional response - like, hate or whatever- to her personally.

Nothing was sophisticated they just add their narrative to an opportunistic pic and build the story to suit.

I don't dislike KP and admire how she stood up for Harvey 're internet bullying.
I agree that this isn't a healthy mind at work though.

I'm genuinely sorry for her, and that's irrespective of the fact that she's mostly the author of her own misfortune. It's so clear that the state of her chaotic life mirrors her tumultuous and obviously precarious mental health. The woman is a train crash and I don't like to watch those unfold so publicly. Nor am l comfortable with a voyeuristic media that records events with evident pleasure each time a wheel comes off.

Then again, I've never understood the mentality of rubber-neckers. I'm not interested in looking at mangled metal by the road side and it seriously irritates me that others do and are happy to delay my commute.

I feel bad for her now. I used to think she was a good business woman etc but she's not always great with her kids and she seems unable to be on her own. She's got issues with how she looks and she's going to end up looking like that Jocelyn cat woman. It's all just poor self esteem. Sad really.

An old friend of mine once said she disliked her because she has had "A lot of kids with a lot of men and has made very bad life choices".

The thing is, said friend, at the time, was having a secret affair and had become pregnant. She didn't continue with the pregnancy and is still with her non-the-wiser husband. Said friend was able to brush her misfortunes under the carpet and carry on with her blemish-free existence. Whereas, Pricey's misfortunes or 'bad life choices' are played out for all to scoff at see.

That was proven to be untrue and it was started by the press who hated KP.

Katie is heavily involved in support groups for the carers of children with the same conditions that Harvey has. Other Parents got this cleared up, because people started to think that they'd also caused their children's syndromes etc. There's been Senior Consultants who've gone to the press about this, because it effected charity donations for quite a while. A few of the gutter press ended up giving donations. KP has had to take legal action to stop her severely disabled child from being targeted and attacked by the press.

OP, I agree that she benefits from any press coverage. I used to watch the reality programme and she used to laugh about it.

I think she has a good fan base and also a good base of people who want her to succeed.

She is a victim and women who control their own sexuality/sexual behaviour aren't liked, unless they are a broken victim. I even see that on the feminist board on here.

I don't hate her. I just think she needs years and years of therapy. And to find a fulfilling job outside the celeb bubble.

I saw (ages ago) her pop up on one of those Police docu-soaps. She had an illegal number plate on her car. She initially refused to stop for the Police then told them she knew it was illegal and she would get someone to sort it out. Her arrogant approach to motoring offences doesn't seem to have changed - she's been banned 4 times in two years.
Not a lot of sympathy for drink drivers (and before anyone starts shouting sexist misogynist double standards - also zero sympathy for Ant McPartlin either).

I love her , my husband doesn’t see why I like her but I am a huge fan , I don’t see why people dislike her so much . I love that she has a ‘I don’t give a shit’ attitude about her hate from the press
