Just open it and cook it without the bag if it smells ok. My Turkey says on the packaging that it can have bruises where its been plucked. It could be that. Get someone else to sniff it!

MynameisJune · 25/12/2019 10:40

Aldi have said there’s a batch of fresh turkeys that have gone off. Sorry op, at least you have the gammon.

MrsWhites · 25/12/2019 10:42

Another one who wouldn’t eat it OP, having gammon only might be a bit disappointing but not as much as a house hold of people with food poisoning! Aldi don’t seem great with turkey, I remember seeing similar issues last year!

MoobaaMoobaa · 25/12/2019 10:44

Don't open it! according to other aldi customers it smells absalutly rank.

Gammon will be fine Smile

y0rkier0se · 25/12/2019 10:45

There’s no one else here at the min, home alone for a few hours preparing dinner whilst DP does some family visiting - hence consulting mumsnet. I think the black bit might be feathers it’s the green bit that looks horrible, like an abscess or something. I’m just going to cook it in the bag then open it outside when everyone gets back and see if it smells or not. Luckily I prefer gammon Grin

You might find that one if your local small shops or petrol stations is open today. There’s usually one where I live, so hopefully you’ll find somewhere. Try checking online and you might be able to get a few chicken fillets. It’s better than nothing. Sorry OP. I hope the rest of your day is lovely.

ChocolateCoins19 · 25/12/2019 10:47

If u cook it if its rotten you'll stink your house out.

OliviaBenson · 25/12/2019 10:47

Don't cook it. Leave it and take it back to Aldi when they reopen.

MrsAJ27 · 25/12/2019 10:48

That looks disgusting...I wouldn't even attempt to cook it yuk!

SarahTancredi · 25/12/2019 10:49

God no dont cook it.

If your dp is out ask him to pop into a corner shop or garage theres bound to be one open , and grab a chicken or two.

It will stink.out the house and out everyone off their dinner. Double bag it and put it in the wheely bin

Haworthia · 25/12/2019 10:49

Don’t cook it, it might disguise the rottenness IF it’s rotten. I think you need to ring DH.

MoobaaMoobaa · 25/12/2019 10:51

what? don't cook it!Shock it will stink The whole house out whether in a bag or not.

GaraMedouar · 25/12/2019 10:53

Don't cook it! Just have gammon and veggies.

y0rkier0se · 25/12/2019 10:53

I’ve opened the bag and left it out for five like a PP said and it smells ok, it doesn’t look slimy. So going to cook it and see what it looks like. Will update!

Dp is a chef, he said sometimes with turkey it can look a funny colour. He did say he wouldn't eat it. He said pierce a hole in bag then smell it. I know you have a cold. But he said he wouldn't entertain cooking it. He would probably just throw it and laugh about it in a weeks time.
Don't let it spoil your day.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 25/12/2019 10:54

Oh x post

Wolfiefan · 25/12/2019 10:54

It’s green but you’re going to cook it and eat it? Yuck.

Frouby · 25/12/2019 10:57

If it smells ok and isn't slimey it's probably ok tbh. I would cut that bit out and lift the bacon and see what it's like further down. If the greeny bit is just in that area it's probably a bruise.

But if it smells or is slimey definetly just bin it.

Timberoo · 25/12/2019 11:00

Headline that Aldi, Tesco and some other place have all got rancid turkeys... I think it was the Mirror.

AliceAbsolum · 25/12/2019 11:00

Oh god this is my kind of nightmare. Don't eat it!

SarahTancredi · 25/12/2019 11:01

Think about it op
No.turkey everyone still gets to eat with gammon and the rest of the meal and laughs about the green turkey after a drink.or two VS making everyone ill and no one ever trusting your cooking again.

Just grab something out the freezer. Extra sausages or even a vege burger or something if you are worried theres not enough stuff.

Wolfiefan · 25/12/2019 11:01

You CAN’T see or smell everything that makes you ill. I wouldn’t.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/12/2019 11:02

It's just a patch of feathers Confused

Soubriquet · 25/12/2019 11:02
