To think it's a bit manky to spend Xmas Day in your pyjamas

Or PJs/jammies as people call them on here.

Are these the new PJs from the Christmas Eve box that you've slept in all night or do you shower and put a fresh pair on?

It's not exactly a John Lewis tableau is it? Parents and children tucking into their turkey/nut roast in their manky nightwear. Have a shower and get dressed you lazy beggars!

No men in pjs are not at all attractive 🤣

@Bogoffrain Funny! I did have a 'Hemsworth in pj's' thought when pp said 'no man'....Blush

Pfefferkuchen · 21/12/2019 14:50

Christmas Day in PJs is definitely a thing over there

at least the spirit of Hugh Hefner will stay with us thanks to all these "aspirational" families Grin

Pfefferkuchen · 21/12/2019 14:51

Bogoffrain
as much as they'll pretend otherwise, I bet most of the partners and/or posters on here do not look remotely like this Wink

Bogoffrain · 21/12/2019 14:54

I think that’s why I’ve stayed single, my expectations are too high

JacquesHammer · 21/12/2019 14:55

I broke my leg two years ago. I wore nothing but PJ trousers together with “normal” clothes on my top half for three months.

The OP would have expired in faux outrage.

MrsEnglishh · 21/12/2019 14:56

So do enlighten us, OP.

Why are people who wear one type of material rather than another "manky"?

Perid0t · 21/12/2019 14:56

I think people can do whatever they like in their own homes and it’s really none of your business

mrspotatohed · 21/12/2019 14:56

I'm 8 months pregnant and nothing except leggings fit me. I'm tired and uncomfortable. I dont need to leave the house xmas so I wont be getting dressed into nice new clothes.

Pfefferkuchen · 21/12/2019 14:56

Nothing to be proud of, that sounds ridiculous and completely unnecessary - someone needed to be a martyr?

Arf Grin nice snipping of the pertinent part of the quote. Don’t you look a twit.

I needed clothes that fit over a full and bulky leg cast.

Would you have rather I wore the full PJ set Grin

JacquesHammer · 21/12/2019 15:01

Ah AS done. See it’s not an unusual look for you. As you were. Grin

Pfefferkuchen · 21/12/2019 16:51

JacquesHammer

I needed clothes that fit over a full and bulky leg cast. well quite. And most people manage to find clothes and don't need to stay in pjs bottoms for 2 months...you know, speaking about twits Hmm

Honeybee85 · 21/12/2019 17:21

I’m actually also surprised it’s a thing in some countries to spend your day in pyamas.
For many years I bought a smart new outfit to wear at Christmas; that and Easter is the event you have to dress up for and it’s impossible to get an appointment before the New Year at the hairdresser/ beauty salon if you decide that you want to book a treatment let’s say 2 weeks for Christmas.

I always joke that I wear a dress twice per year and it’s always during Christmas and Easter Grin.
I think my DM would have forced me into one if I had dared to show up at the Christmas dinner in my beloved jeans.

Cohle · 21/12/2019 17:28

Peace on the earth, goodwill to all men eh OP. Hmm

I truly don't care what anyone else's family choose to wear on Christmas Day. I do wonder quite what OP's getting up to in her nightwear to make it so filthy though...

ALongHardWinter · 21/12/2019 18:22
Hmm
user1493494961 · 21/12/2019 18:31

I think it's manky.

PonteLaCorona · 21/12/2019 18:53

*Why would people get showered then put clean ones on, how sweaty and dirty could you possibly get sleeping in your own bed?

Wait till you're menopausal and attacked by night sweats...*

My thoughts exactly. I miss the days when days in last nights pyjamas were fine because I "didn't sweat at all". Now I have a whole repertoire of different kinds of sweats Xmas SadXmas Envy

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 21/12/2019 19:14

@MarthasGinYard

I always wonder this at swimming

Kids putting onesies on after a quick 2 minute in the shower. Sit in the grim changing rooms and then get in the car then home to bed

How do you know they're going home to bed? DN has a sweatshirt type material onesie he wears after swimming because it's cold out and it's quick, warm and easy to throw on after a quick rinse. When he gets home he has a bath , puts his pyjamas on and goes to bed, the onesie goes in the wash.

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 21/12/2019 19:16

I don't, but how are your PJs getting so manky and smelly over the course of one night? Mine are smell free for at least a week and sex and other strenuous activities occur around the time said pyjamas are put on. Are you exceptionally sweaty OP? Heavy of bodily discharges? Perhaps wear knickers under your PJs to avoid washing them daily?

highheelsandweathercocks · 21/12/2019 19:20

The DC have a bath before bed so are clean then, and both DH and I shower before bed. The last three Christmases neither DH or the DC have moved out of their pyjamas. We just bathed/showered and put clean ones on ready for bed. I can't sit down for Christmas dinner without wearing a bra though. I just felt at bit naked, so I changed into soft leggings and a hoody (and bra). Why not? The furthest we leave the house is to put the cardboard in the recycling bin.

If we were going somewhere or having people over, we'd get dressed, like we do every other time, but if we're staying home and it's just the four of us, we like to be lazy.

LeSquigh · 21/12/2019 19:31

I don’t wear pyjamas during the day ever because I find them uncomfortable and I don’t want to get food smells etc on them but I do find it weird that people dress up for Xmas day - even if I was going to someone’s house (I am) or to a restaurant I wouldn’t be dressing up - I find that so weird - it’s not an “occasion” is it?!

Lllot5 · 21/12/2019 19:34

I think it’s manky any day.
I could tell you all about taking my great nephew to school once and someone being there in their pyjamas, but that’s not the worst if it she was still in them at pick up time.

ThebishopofBanterbury · 21/12/2019 19:36

Each to their own, I would hate it though. I never where my PJs all day even when I'm at home I'll.

YappityYapYap · 21/12/2019 19:37

I reckon this is the same OP that wrote a thread about how being stressed at this time of year was stupid... I have visions that she doesn't work, doesn't have kids or they're grown up, gets the shopping delivered to the door on Christmas eve and pays someone to wrap any presents she's bothered to buy for people
