To think it's a bit manky to spend Xmas Day in your pyjamas

Or PJs/jammies as people call them on here.

Are these the new PJs from the Christmas Eve box that you've slept in all night or do you shower and put a fresh pair on?

It's not exactly a John Lewis tableau is it? Parents and children tucking into their turkey/nut roast in their manky nightwear. Have a shower and get dressed you lazy beggars!

How are your pyjamas getting so manky?

You never change your sheets or bathe your kids OP?

DobbyLovesSocks · 21/12/2019 09:25

I own more PJ's than day clothes. I wear the same pair of trousers to work all week then wash them. I have an office job so my clothes don't get that dirty and just get freshened up in the washing machine.

Xmas day is all about slobbing in front of the telly eating choc and drinking prosecco. I do get dressed up boxing day as that's when we see extended family.

Fail to see how I spend my xmas day is anything to do with anyone outside of me and DH to be honest

BeBraveAndBeKind · 21/12/2019 09:25

I work in a company with a corporate dress code, 5 days a week, 46 weeks a year. Any Christmas we're at home, I'm in my pjs as I'm not wasting the opportunity to be comfortable. They're not manky because I sleep naked and shower daily.

bellinisurge · 21/12/2019 09:26

Nigella Lawson does Christmas prep until the meal in her jammies. Good enough for her.
Wear what you like. For as long as you like on Christmas Day.

Tombliwho · 21/12/2019 09:28

It's one if those things that I genuinely don't understand getting bothered about. Think about it...you are bothered by people you don't know wearing their pyjamas in their own home for one day..
Get a life!

GreenGrove · 21/12/2019 09:28

I think it's ok if you're showering and putting clean ones on. My preference would still be getting dressed though, at least for lunch

ChipsAreLife · 21/12/2019 09:28

I don't know anyone that does is? Most people I know are out to families or have them over so tend to get dressed. We actually make a bit of an effort for Christmas Day.

But if I was just at home with DH and DC and not doing a full on Christmas then why not!!! I would have to shower and put fresh ones though!

ManonBlackbeak · 21/12/2019 09:28

I think people who get dressed up to the nines and then cake themselves in make up just to stay in their homes really fucking weird, but each to their own,

HappydaysArehere · 21/12/2019 09:28

Just don’t fancy cooking and sitting at the table wearing last night’s sweaty nightclothes. Okay if you have washed and put on a comfy clean set you are happy in.

madcatladyforever · 21/12/2019 09:30

I think Christmas is ridiculous and don't celebrate it at all so I'll be spending my entire day in pyjamas.

Babybel90 · 21/12/2019 09:30

Why would people get showered then put clean ones on, how sweaty and dirty could you possibly get sleeping in your own bed?

Allyg1185 · 21/12/2019 09:32

I don't give a rats ass whether Mrs Jones down the road stays in pjs or gets into a bloody ball gown. My Christmas my rules

BonnyConnie · 21/12/2019 09:32

YABU to criticise others and invoke the spirit of John Lewis while using the word ‘manky’.

gamerwidow · 21/12/2019 09:35

Each to their own, if people haven't got guests and want a lazy day in their PJs I cant see the harm. I never wear PJs all day even if I'm ill because I feel more comfortable being dressed but if other people feel more comfortable in PJs that's fine.
Not showering for one day is hardly a health hazard if that's the way they choose to do it,

ForalltheSaints · 21/12/2019 09:36

Not if I am visiting and never in my home. All year round.

I think it is lazy and unhygienic though I know others will disagree.

MarthasGinYard · 21/12/2019 09:37

I always wonder this at swimming

Kids putting onesies on after a quick 2 minute in the shower. Sit in the grim changing rooms and then get in the car then home to bed.

Ugh

my2bundles · 21/12/2019 09:37

I will celebrate Christmas my way thanks. It involves a stress free day, happy kids, presents, games and a lovely meal. No visitors so yes we stay in pyjamas, it's our Christmas so we do it our way

MaryPopppins · 21/12/2019 09:37

I have some hideous and comfy chrristmas leggings. So they'll be getting worn all
Day Wednesday as we're not going out or having visitors.

But I can't be doing with not washing and changing in the morning.

I'd happily wash and put on fresh PJs if I had a comfy pair. But I'd want to put underwear on underneath for the day.

I have big boobs and get far too hot if they're touching each other. And would feel grotty with no pants on all day.

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 21/12/2019 09:37

I'd feel a bit weird having loads of guests and cooking a big meal then sitting at the table in pyjamas, if it was just me DH and DS I'd be less bothered. Last christmas day I had a 3 week old and still got dressed

LightsInOtherPeoplesHouses · 21/12/2019 09:38

If I'm at home I'll be in pyjamas - not ones I've worn to bed the night before, I don't wear pyjamas to bed. Why would I get dressed up just to spend the day playing with DS who I know is having some things that may be messy to play with?

Powerbunting · 21/12/2019 09:38

Quite right op. Even on days where it is just me, DP and DC, I come out of my bedroom appropriately glammed up. Full face of make-up. Hair done. I think anyone who does less is manky, not befitting my john Lewis table decorations.

Or, you know, you can just do what works for you and leave others to spend their Christmas day however they want.

SlightlyStaleCocoPops · 21/12/2019 09:39

"Why would people get showered then put clean ones on, how sweaty and dirty could you possibly get sleeping in your own bed?"

I know it's a MN cardinal sin but I wear fresh pyjamas every night. 🤷‍♀️

TheOliphantintheRoom · 21/12/2019 09:43

Why are you trying to wind people up, it’s not like it’s not a stressful enough time of year without you being a gf

It's only as stressful as you choose to make it so calm down.

OP posts:
sqirrelfriends · 21/12/2019 09:43

I would change into fresh ones but could never get anything thing done in pj's. It's a mentality for me, once the pjs are on I don't do anything.

Doubleraspberry · 21/12/2019 09:43

Kids putting onesies on after a quick 2 minute in the shower. Sit in the grim changing rooms and then get in the car then home to bed.

Ugh

Whyyyyyyy? What is ‘ugh’ about this? I am mystified every single time onesies and swimming gets wheeled out on here.

Pyjamas on Christmas Day? Not my thing but knock yourselves out, everyone. Whatever makes you happy.
