To think it's a bit manky to spend Xmas Day in your pyjamas

Or PJs/jammies as people call them on here.

Are these the new PJs from the Christmas Eve box that you've slept in all night or do you shower and put a fresh pair on?

It's not exactly a John Lewis tableau is it? Parents and children tucking into their turkey/nut roast in their manky nightwear. Have a shower and get dressed you lazy beggars!

You’ll be horrified to think that in my house currently, we are all sitting around in pyjamas! Football and rugby matches have been cancelled due to water logged pitches, so we are celebrating the fact it’s our first Saturday where we don’t need to get dressed and be out of the house by 9!

Christmas Day will also be spent in pyjamas. We even have visitors coming! We don’t do the big meal on Christmas Day though, we do that on Christmas Eve. So it’s a day spent playing with toys and enjoying time with my children. Not stressing about if they have clean pants on, or who doesn’t have matching socks.

Dongdingdong · 21/12/2019 12:39

YANBU OP - it’s slobby.

Milsplus3 · 21/12/2019 12:49

Haha as a single mum with no one to visit or anywhere to go that day I will be in my Christmas pjs all day as it’s a rare chance I get to. Saves the environment, less washing Wink

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 21/12/2019 12:56

I'm not the one who started this horrible thread, OP, you are. What was the purpose of it if not to be sneery? This is a public chatboard not your playground and if you post to be goady expect comments. HTH

user1471441839 · 21/12/2019 12:56

Poor you OP do you have such a sad life that you have to start a thread asking this (pity face) . I suspect your reply will be that you have a full and happy life, that you know lots of nurses who like the old type of uniform etc, and what a very chilled person you are , but you're not kidding us Op. Get yourself a mulled Wine and chill

Sweetbabycheezits · 21/12/2019 13:27

We get up and dressed on Christmas day because we go to MIL's for lunch; Boxing Day is our little family day, and we spend it grazing on nice food, watching films and generally slobbing about in our pyjamas. What's the big deal? It's one day!

TheOliphantintheRoom · 21/12/2019 14:09

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe

Oh calm the fuck down! I've clearly hit a nerve and you are massively over-reacting. Sit in your PJs all of the festive season for all I care but you are being hysterical, rude and rather silly.

Next time I'll put

DancingPyjamas · 21/12/2019 14:13

Quite right OP.
Which is why I will be spending the day in a wincyette nightie and a quilted dressing gown.

TheOliphantintheRoom · 21/12/2019 14:15

Christmas Day will also be spent in pyjamas. We even have visitors coming!

Noooo! Do your visitors wear them too? Please say no.

QuickstepQueen · 21/12/2019 14:18

My kids will probably stay in their onesies all day, or maybe not, I won’t enquire as to whether they have showered or put on clean clothes as I’m sure they are capable of making that decision for themselves - no one will be offended or bothered or even know, so not sure will anyone would care.

YellowSubmarine94 · 21/12/2019 14:19

You would hate me. I wear pyjamas all day if I'm not going out anywhere. And when I have been out, I change back into them.

Why WOULDN'T you want to be sitting or lying in comfort for as long as possible?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 21/12/2019 14:23

I don't even own a pair of pyjamas but the point is, you feel entitled to sneer and pose as having posted a 'lighthearted' thread; it's not, it's judgemental and was intended so.

I'll post where I like by the way, so calm the fuck down yourself.

BonnieSeptember · 21/12/2019 14:25

I sometimes spend the day in my manky, baby sick and drool and possibly pee stained pjs just for fun, not just for Christmas ;)

Pfefferkuchen · 21/12/2019 14:26

Noooo! Do your visitors wear them too? Please say no.

Grin Grin Grin
it's only the next step after making them take their shoes off!

Pfefferkuchen · 21/12/2019 14:28

Why WOULDN'T you want to be sitting or lying in comfort for as long as possible?

well that's why some of us buy clothes that fit, that are not only flattering but also comfortable. Hard concept I know but even my jeans are comfy enough to wear indoors.

Why do people only buy uncomfortable clothes, just why.

Thuglife · 21/12/2019 14:30

I don’t know a single nurse, and I’ve met a lot during my professional career, who doesn’t prefer wearing scrubs. They’re comfortable, don’t dig into bloated night shift bellies & can be dumped in the linen at the end of a shift. What’s not to like?
Do you think doctors look unprofessional in scrubs or is just nurses - -that are predominately women- -who need “ proper “ uniforms to validate their professional status Hmm ?

Thuglife · 21/12/2019 14:30

Why didn’t my strike through work?

user1471441839 · 21/12/2019 14:31

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe the op is attacking you because you rightly called her out. She isn't smart enough to start a goady thread and then see it through without the "calm the fuck down its light hearted " reply when challenged by other posters

Honeybee85 · 21/12/2019 14:31

Everyone should spend Christmas dressed in what they like. If it’s in pyamas so be it.

At least it’s a cosy Christmas Grin

confuzzled42 · 21/12/2019 14:35

This is one of the reasons I love the fact we go to church on Christmas morning. Everyone HAS to be dressed!

Oh - and OP that peignoir is divine.

AlessandroVasectomi · 21/12/2019 14:36

Our son married an American girl and lives in the US so he spends Christmas at her parents’ house with her family. Christmas Day in PJs is definitely a thing over there and you have to have a pair of Christmas PJs that you wear for the day. It seemed odd to us when we learnt about it, but that’s what they do.

I haven’t enquired too closely, but I’d guess you wear underwear under your Christmas PJs because you wouldn’t want any embarrassing fallout, would you.

shinynewapplesonachristmastree · 21/12/2019 14:36

I was bought up with the idea that Christmas lunch you wore your best clothes, but I actually think it's nice that if you are just doing Christmas with your immediate family, that after all the stress and hard work, you spend the day together in your most relaxing clothing.

The roast dinner is the next thing to go! I did consider a restaurant this year - but that would definitely be a 'no-no' for the Christmas PJs Grin

Oh and the " I've clearly hit a nerve ...you're overreacting " from the op when she's been challanged over starting a goady thread for whatever reason ( to make her self feel better ? )
