To think it's a bit manky to spend Xmas Day in your pyjamas

Or PJs/jammies as people call them on here.

Are these the new PJs from the Christmas Eve box that you've slept in all night or do you shower and put a fresh pair on?

It's not exactly a John Lewis tableau is it? Parents and children tucking into their turkey/nut roast in their manky nightwear. Have a shower and get dressed you lazy beggars!

As long as a person is showered and it's clean pjs I don't see a problem. Smelly pjs no shower and morning breath is a bit manky to spend all day. Imo

SoftBlocks · 21/12/2019 11:55

Each to their own!
I get migraines so associate daytime pyjama wearing with vomiting and excruciating pain. But if you like spending Christmas Day in pyjamas go for it.

PixieDustt · 21/12/2019 11:56

I don't see how pjs can get so manny unless you shat yourself.
By the afternoon I'm in some new pjs I can't keep my clothes on a button might take someone's eye out after eating so much

How smelly do pyjamas get in one night? Lots of people shower in the evenings rather than the morning.

PixieDustt · 21/12/2019 11:56

Manky

VisionQuest · 21/12/2019 11:57

I'm only getting dressed because we have company.

I've been known to walk the dogs in my jimjams on Xmas day before Confused

SomeKindOfMonster · 21/12/2019 11:58

Last year I even walked the dog in my jammies. Do I win? Grin

SomeKindOfMonster · 21/12/2019 11:59

Haha @VisionQuest cross post

IfNot · 21/12/2019 11:59

Our Xmas is more like a Netto tableau..Xmas Wink
I think staying inside all Xmas day (or Sunday) in pyjamas is a thing that's happened over the last 15 years or so. I used to think it was a Southern thing cos when I was young young and moved south my flatmates (from London and SE) used to put on peeejaays to watch films all day Sunday, with mountains of crisps.

(I don't think it is a Southern thing now, but that's what I thought then!)
I was in Primark yesterday and the lounge section is MASSIVE. It's fluffy dressing gowns and slippers as far as the eye can see. Everyone cocooned in their houses in their own little family bubble, no outsiders, all comfy..it makes me feel like I can't breathe for some reason! Like I'm suffocating under a pile of fleece.
Each to their own but I can't help feeling like there's some connection between the cult of the peejay and the growing insularity of modern life.
God I'm deep.

jaseyraex · 21/12/2019 12:00

I don't think it's any worse than rocking around your house in full make up and a party dress, just because its christmas. Each to their own.

TheOliphantintheRoom · 21/12/2019 12:02

Grasp away OP, somebody posted something you could clutch to your bosom as validation for sneering at what other people do... ho ho ho

Eh?

TheOliphantintheRoom · 21/12/2019 12:07

Oh, OP. That's a bit embarrassing for you. Did you mean to be so cringey?

Don't know what you're on going in about. A few of my nurse friends much preferred wearing a smart uniform on the ward and scrubs in the operating theatre.

LightsInOtherPeoplesHouses · 21/12/2019 12:13

Why people cannot buy decent clothes that actually fit and are comfortable but need to stick to pyjamas will remain a mystery to me!

I have decent clothes. I'm not wearing them round the house to get pet fur all over them or to get all mucky playing with playdoh, slime or whatever messy thing DS is into next. Plus hours cooking in a over hot kitchen.

I like to keep my nice clothes reasonably nice.

FleetwoodMacMummy · 21/12/2019 12:15

Obviously shower and clean pjs on. I fail to see how that is any grubbier than putting other clothes on. It's only me, my husband and my toddler for Xmas day so why would I put on a party dress to sit on my sofa - that to me is more bizzare!

TheClausSeason · 21/12/2019 12:15

Deck the halls with old curmudgeons, fa la la la la, la la la la
'Tis the season to pass judgement fa la la la, la la la
Saddle up ye old high horses, fa la la, la la la, la la la
Brace yourselves, all ye pearl clutchers, fa la la la la, la la la laaaaaaa

Sorry that should have been Xmas Grin - must keep up my standards and wear a hat.

Quite Op

Come on let's see your Christmas hat Grin

PortiaCastis · 21/12/2019 12:23

This is an exceptional candidate for the Christmas bingo thread

DuckWillow · 21/12/2019 12:23

YABU

I am spending Xmas day with judgey BIL who thinks my sons autism is caused by poor parenting. Given a choice I’d be home and in my PJs ...at least until I had finished prepping dinner and got it all going. I might get dressed then.

TheOliphantintheRoom · 21/12/2019 12:28

Poor OP. What a sad and spiteful little thread to feverishly type just to get a reaction. I always feel sorry for posters who must be so desperate for social interaction yet so graceless that they just post to be goady. Sad

Crikey @LyingWitchInTheWardrobe - you're over thinking this. And your replies have been pretty sad, spiteful, feverishly typed, graceless and goady.

pigsDOfly · 21/12/2019 12:32

I'm with you OP.

I've never understood the appeal of spending the day in night clothes and I don't know anyone who does it, apart from some of exh family who I don't know any more and come to think of it are now all dead, it would make me feel like an invalid.

It seems a very big thing on MN though.

My day clothes fit me and are perfectly comfortable to sit or move around in.

Are people wearing their clothes too way tight or something that they can't wait to shed them?

TriJo · 21/12/2019 12:35

No lift to Christmas Day parkrun, exH is picking up the DCs at lunchtime...

/effort

MarthasGinYard · 21/12/2019 12:35

I could only do it if I had complete hair wash shower and full on clean PJ's and full undies.

So may as well just ....dress

SurvivingCBeebies · 21/12/2019 12:36

Hush your judgement... I'm 9 months pregnant!! Jammies are my world!!
