To think it's a bit manky to spend Xmas Day in your pyjamas

Or PJs/jammies as people call them on here.

Are these the new PJs from the Christmas Eve box that you've slept in all night or do you shower and put a fresh pair on?

It's not exactly a John Lewis tableau is it? Parents and children tucking into their turkey/nut roast in their manky nightwear. Have a shower and get dressed you lazy beggars!

Didn’t you post that christmas was unnecessary stress?

Why would people want to look like a John Lewis tableau? More unnecessary stress.

MamaFlintstone · 21/12/2019 10:42

What are you doing overnight to get your pyjamas so manky?

ACautionaryTale · 21/12/2019 10:44

Sleep naked

Get up, shower, clean pjs to skip for the day

QueenoftheBiscuitTin · 21/12/2019 10:44

How are clean pyjamas dirty? Where on earth do you keep them?

Horehound · 21/12/2019 10:46

I get dressed into a nice Christmassy outfit but I don't know what's manky about wearing jammies all day. I imagine they wouldn't be having guests over etc and jut sounds comfy?

Merry Christmas, op!

Panpastels · 21/12/2019 10:47

It's just us on the day so I do shower but happily wear pjs all day. I feel sorry for people who have guests or have to go somewhere and get dressed Grin

Why do you care what others wear on Christmas Day?

Bizarre post

IfNot · 21/12/2019 10:52

Yeah, I don't think it's manky but it is quite depressing and not practical for all the reasons speakout listed.
And don't any if you peejay (blurgh) day people ever leave the house on Xmas day? Walk the dog? Pop to a neighbours? Go for a walk? I would hate that. It's dark most of the day I need to get out!
I wear my Beverly Goldberg style naff sparkly jumper with a bra underneath like the Lord intended.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 21/12/2019 10:52

so calm down

Perhaps take your own advice.

IfNot · 21/12/2019 10:53

I don't know why people keep going "why do you care what other people do! ?"
Abiu wouldn't exist if no one commented on what other people do! Grin

Meruem · 21/12/2019 10:54

Ah the old PJ debate yet again. For some of us, we don’t actually wear pjs to bed. I personally would be way too hot in them. So they go on clean on whatever day I wear them. I can’t even really class them as bed clothes as they’re never worn to bed. They are just comfy clothes to me. I actually feel sorry for people who cannot wear them in the day. They are just clothes like any other. So uptight to think you have to get dressed into “proper” clothes.

OlaEliza · 21/12/2019 10:54

I planned to wear pjs all day. Its just me and DH. Reading this thread I did think about putting a dress on but I'll be cooking and haven't got an apron.

midnightmisssuki · 21/12/2019 10:54

How DARE you! My pjs are silk and cost a few hundred pounds. Don’t get me started on my socks. Mind you’re own business OP Xmas Confused

AdelaideK · 21/12/2019 10:57

I like getting new clothes to wear on Christmas day. I'd feel slobby in my pyjamas all day but Christmas should be about doing what we want and feeling comfortable so YABU

airbags · 21/12/2019 10:58

I'm manky and you're judgmental. Can't be arsed with posh frocks and canapés darlhhhling - done it too many times over the years and just to maintain other people's standards (you'd probably fit in nicely with them). If we want to slob for the day in the comfort of our own home, enjoying each others company, eating what we chose then who are you to judge? Off you trot to your perfect bubble that puts undue pressure on others, meanwhile I'll be festering in my mankiness. Good luck with keeping up appearances.

francienolan · 21/12/2019 11:01

I wear pajamas for opening gifts and breakfast and usually change into a jumper and leggings or jeans for the walk we go on, then shower and put on a dress for the rest of the day.

Boireannachlaidir · 21/12/2019 11:01

Oh who cares whether it's a "John Lewis tableau or not".

Posting about it on here isn't gonna learn 'em Confused

Babyg1995 · 21/12/2019 11:02

We get dressed up but I wouldn't think it was manky someone staying in there pjsConfused

Celebelly · 21/12/2019 11:03

I'll be in PJs! We aren't going anywhere and I'm not getting into 'proper' clothes to sit around the house all day. I'll get up, shower, then put on fresh PJs and be comfy and snug all day long Grin Couldn't give a shiny shit if anyone thinks it's manky! I bloody love it

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 21/12/2019 11:05

Poor OP. What a sad and spiteful little thread to feverishly type just to get a reaction.

I always feel sorry for posters who must be so desperate for social interaction yet so graceless that they just post to be goady. Sad.

cookiemon666 · 21/12/2019 11:06

I work as a nurse, I will get dressed to walk with kids and dogs on the beach. We will then all come home and slob out. Not cooking Christmas dinner as it's only us 5, and we are in a crappy rented house. I am back to work on boxing day😢😢

happycamper11 · 21/12/2019 11:07

I get dressed as we go out after present opening (which is indeed done in pyjamas) but I genuinely don't see the problem if the pyjamas were clean on the evening before. I do hope that the people doing it are the cross section that wear pants under pj's though (previous thread) otherwise I guess that could be a bit more unpleasant - kind of the same hygiene wise as sitting around in your pants

Skyejuly · 21/12/2019 11:09

Pretty sure I do not want am advert-esque (aka FAke) christmas anyway. Who cares what anyone else wears? Really?

Skyejuly · 21/12/2019 11:10

I go out every day of the year I think so I really don't feel the need to go out on christmas.
