Would you be sad if the Queen died?

I've just been reading the thread about Prince Phillip going into hospital and a poster said they wouldn't be sad if the Queen passed, as she doesn't actually know who we are.

I'm not a royalist by any means and I don't know how I'd feel if the news broke that she died.

How would you feel?

A bit sad, like if a distant friends nan died perhaps. But not especially sad. She's an old person, it wouldn't be terribly unexpected in fact I do expect it to happen at some point in my life. I have no particular feelings about the queen I.e. I'm no royalist and I do think the monarchy is a little outdated but I'm not against them either... yeah.

it's had its time and now there are so many other options available to the people that a reigning monarchy isn't necessary anymore when perhaps once it had its use

I think I see where you're coming from, but would add that there aren't too many options at least in the UK ... because the Windsors are going nowhere for now
