Forgot to say Gravy!

BarbedBloom · 18/12/2019 20:29

Dinner
Venison with sloe gin and plum stuffing
Spinach, tofu and pine nut wreath for the veggies
Roast potatoes
Roast parsnips
Carrots
Cauli cheese
Sprouts with chestnuts
Peas (my nephews insist)
Yorkshire puddings (my fave)
Pigs in blankets

Dessert will be home made gingerbread trifle, M&S profiteroles and a cheese board.

It is a real mishmash this year as am hosting six who all want different things. None of us like Christmas pudding and I don't really do Turkey, was duck last year.

Catrescue1971 · 18/12/2019 20:43

I couldn't manage a 3 course in one go (cooking it or eating it) so we have soup for lunch, christmas dinner at about 6 and in the evening have pudding or cheese board. That way we can enjoy without chaos. We have Turkey and pigs in blankets, cranberry and red sauce, 2 veg (usually sprouts and carrots). And of course gravy. And stuffing. I'm all for keeping it simple here - it's still lovely.

naughtynelliesnunnie · 18/12/2019 20:48

Mmm some of these sound delish! Star

Going to son's and partner's as they've just bought their first home and it has a huge kitchen diner with aga. My parents plus his partner's parents and grandma, brother and partner going so real family affair Xmas Smile

not sure what they're doing for starters but we've discussed the main and we're all chipping in with bits

Turkey and roast beef
homemade sausagemeat stuffing (her mam makes and it's apparently to die for)
M&S chestnut stuffing
My dad's legendary sausage meatballs (sausagemeat and onions bound with egg then rolled in breadcrumbs) Her family demand them lol

Mash

Red onion gratin
A little red wine gravy

Walk on the beach

Home made lemon ricotta cheesecake
Coffee

1Morewineplease · 18/12/2019 21:08

Some fantastic menus here.
I’m surprised to see so many folk cooking Yorkshire Puddings and Cauliflower Cheeses... I’m going to up my game I think.

Breakfast is croissants made using those Jus-rol canisters in the cheese aisle and sausage rolls that are cooked from frozen.

Christmas Dinner is traditional but we have a turkey crown.

Have a great Christmas everyone!🎄

Saving this thread for all the delicous ideas you've all posted. Only ever had Brussel sprouts boiled or steamed, except for one tine, a not so great recipe, it was ok but not worth doing again. So far I have 4 new ways to try sprouts, honied, creamy mustard sauce, balsamic reduction and roasted.
