Little mousey fuckers have eaten all the stocking fillers

One large Lindt bear
Four bags of chocolate coins
Two marzipan logs
One tube of smarties
Box of heroes
Tube of chocolate buttons
Tray of Reece’s treats
The cotton bag the coins were in

Little shredded bits of foil, plastic and paper all over the cupboard. Cat gives me a nonchalant look and goes back to sleep.

AIBU to fire the cat, go through all our food cupboards to check for recon mice and engage in all-our war with the little buggers?

Actually if you read my name I was not thinking my cat was awesome , I was thinking he was a lazy bastard freeloader

Transformer123 · 14/12/2019 17:07

Definitely engage in war. Could you pretend the reindeer ate them?!

mycatisawesome · 14/12/2019 17:08

And excuse my bad typing I'm still so cross about it , traps came out and we have had 6 in a week so far

DingDongSchadenfreudeOnHigh · 14/12/2019 17:09

If it's any consolation they are probably all dead now -chocolate is highly toxic to mice.

Just pray that they haven't succumbed anywhere that their decaying corpses will intrude on your Christmas festivities.

tillytrotter1 · 14/12/2019 17:11

OH once, rather stupidly, left a box of Celebrations in the garage, when I went to get them the empty box was there nibbled through but we never found any wrappers!

DingDongSchadenfreudeOnHigh · 14/12/2019 17:11

Not sticky traps.

FFS - just not sticky traps - they are incredibly cruel and IM(notsoH)O should be illegal.

Please - just don't.

Sandsnake · 14/12/2019 17:12

Cat that attractive shouldn’t need to work.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 14/12/2019 17:13

If you're looking for a more efficient model, may I offer up the SoupCats? Their preferred catch is pigeon but they are prepared to branch out into rodent capture when required. They are fairly versatile.

My God!

They are BEAUTIFUL, Soup

I've got two orange ones - a couple of blacks would really set them off to full advantage . . .

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 14/12/2019 17:22

I'll send them over. They look less attractive in the shots with the actual dead pigeon in (I thought they were a little distasteful for public viewing!)

We are over due a murder victim in the house actually. I tend to shout out "There's bin a murrrrder!" in a very dodgy Scottish accent but I don't think the kids get the reference. I'm easily amused though.

ItsNearlyMorning · 14/12/2019 17:25

Mice really love snickers bars.
Chop one up and you'll catch them.
I had one in the kitchen ( very old house ) and caught the little bugger sharing the useless cats dry food.
Cat is also a diva and couldn't be arsed to kill anything.
I used humane traps from amazon because I'm a softy and can't kill anything.
I let the one mouse I caught in the kitchen and others I catch in the barn go free in woodland about 2 miles away.
No homes nearby.
Usually the chickens are excellent pest control and catch and eat all mice .
Maybe you should get some chickens.
They are savages !

DingDongSchadenfreudeOnHigh · 14/12/2019 17:27

Don't send them over Soup - bring them over - I have a bottle of Violet Gin winking provocatively at me, and it would be a crying shame to have to drink it all myself.

We could drunkenly exchange "murderrrrr" comments and collapse into fits of raucous and uncontrollable laughter while pointing wildly at each other, to the utter contempt of our loved ones.

(Er - don't bring the pigeon, though, if you don't mind. there are enough corpses lying about the place with my two murderous little bastards.)

TurnipToffee · 14/12/2019 17:27

Are you sure it's not the children pretending to be mice? 🤔

That's interesting about chickens being mouse killers Morning. I know that your final comment - that they are savages - is true because I helped a friend feed her chickens once when I had a small cut on my ankle.

It was hardly bleeding at all, and I was wearing jeans and socks and everything, but the little sods smelled the blood and attacked me and nearly tore my foot of in their eagerness to devour as much of my soft, tender flesh as they could before I escaped.

Apparently blood gets them very excited. Nobody told me.

Mine looks at me like this if she has to do anything

Yes you will just have to keep getting more cats until you find one that catches mice. And keeps them outside. Obviously in this weather it's best to bring mice inside to eat - you need a hardy cat that will keep its kills outside.

wobblywindows · 14/12/2019 18:08

We needed a mouser once. I'm not sure if we advertised for one, or saw an advert - but we were told that the mother cat was teaching the kitten to hunt. Kitty was a beautiful tortoiseshell and caught the mouse the first night. You need a new cat (two's company).

avocadoze · 14/12/2019 18:21

Actually, bad kitty was one of two sisters in a litter. Her sister only lived until 4, as she became very ill, and we noticed that bad kitty was much more settled when it was only her at home. DH has vetoed another cat, as he doesn’t want to upset bad kitty. I think he’s a bit intimidated by her. Frankly we all are.

That adorable, supercillious cat has the look of a cat that got the treats cream!

Are you sure it's mice?

avocadoze · 14/12/2019 18:35

@mycatisawesome looks like your kitty and mine are competing to see who can give the most arrogant look Smile

I genuinely thought the ‘“little mousey fuckers’ was your family and this would be a thread about your kids and husband! Lol

ClientListQueen · 14/12/2019 18:36

I have an ex stray model. Stray for 4 years, should be good right? He couldn't catch a cold, has brought me a (dead) leaf and a crisp packet. Runs away from spiders and cries Hmm
Would rather cuddle
