Little mousey fuckers have eaten all the stocking fillers

One large Lindt bear
Four bags of chocolate coins
Two marzipan logs
One tube of smarties
Box of heroes
Tube of chocolate buttons
Tray of Reece’s treats
The cotton bag the coins were in

Little shredded bits of foil, plastic and paper all over the cupboard. Cat gives me a nonchalant look and goes back to sleep.

AIBU to fire the cat, go through all our food cupboards to check for recon mice and engage in all-our war with the little buggers?

Please don’t use poison. There have been some incidences in my area recently where cats have died slow and painful deaths due to catching mice that had eaten poisoned baits (and were about to die and so were easy catch for cats).

Aroundnabout1 · 17/12/2019 23:50

Hahaha was looking at dinosaur thinking what the hell IS that???

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/12/2019 23:56

The smell is awful - and lasts for ages. This is the reason we got a cat when I was a kid - she went straight to where the smell was coming from - dead stinky mousey was beneath the floorboards.

Good luck

If it makes you feel better, I was wrapping stocking stuff when the doorbell went. When I got back the lab had eaten all 4 Lindt chocolate reindeer’s with their bells. I imagine he pooped and a bell rang for a couple of days!!

Presenting Gizmo, who believes that the draining board is the perfect place to sleep. He recently came bursting through the cat-flap at breakfast time carrying something in his mouth. The second he saw that I was eating porridge, he jumped up on to the table and dropped his (thankfully dead) prey into the bowl in favour of eating the rest of my breakfast. The children thought it was great, and refer to it as 'vole in a bowl.'

His brother Loki is a hunting powerhouse - I recently walked into the kitchen to find him smearing the remains of a squirrel across the floor!

I do have other radiators for that and she does like to sit on any human around, my dad is visiting tomorrow, she will sit on him within minutes of arrival and not move until he goes to bed and guess where she will sleep?

I used to use my laptop with a stand she liked that and I also once found her wrapped around the slow cooker. When I moved her she went and sulked on the sky box

Interestingly, despite our "impressive" mouse infestation which was sorted with poison, there was no smell whatsoever.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/12/2019 08:35

He looks like he's expecting a gold star or some sort of major acknowledgement for his feat swizzel His face is saying 'Where is it? I give major gifts to this woman and I get...porridge??'

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/12/2019 08:42

I love a grumpy cat, moose she's magnificent. That stare would deter burglars!

In that case sashh she can sit on the radiator all day, if she sits on my lap and keeps me warm afterwards. She sounds very sweet and affectionate!

Aroundnabout1 · 18/12/2019 08:47

Haha love the vole photo. Beautiful cat.

Aroundnabout1 · 18/12/2019 08:49

And that looks like a proud expression on his face Grin

avocadoze · 18/12/2019 17:17

Haven’t had the heart to tell the cat off, when she gives me that look

You can’t really tell a cat off. All they actually hear is ‘oh, wonderful cat the magnificent, I am but your lowly servant, how may I serve your furry majesty?’

DingDongSchadenfreudeOnHigh · 19/12/2019 09:00

Interestingly, despite our "impressive" mouse infestation which was sorted with poison, there was no smell whatsoever.

From what little I know about the world of rodent assassination Soup, it depends on the poison. Some sort of dehydrate and mummify the corpse so that it just dries out rather than rots.

Or, of course, they could have just sniffed the bait and thought :This bastard's trying to kill us! Well! - we know when we're not wanted.!" and left. (Probably hoicking up their mousey-buzzems as they stalked off,)

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 19/12/2019 09:28

Yes, the Mouse Man said they usually mummify. They definitely ate the poison as that's how he judged our infestation to be "impressive". I was SO proud 😂

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 19/12/2019 09:33

vole in a bowl 😂😂😂

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 19/12/2019 09:35

This is one of my current pair as a kitten. I think he is saying "Human underling! Feed me this instant or feel my wrath!"

He still has that disapproving frown now. Except when he standing next to a slaughtered pigeon in which case he is the picture of innocence.

sashh I have a slow cooker lover here too. Well it's warm and smells nice, what's not to like. He cannot comprehend why I'm there shooing him away.

avocadoze · 25/12/2019 22:28

Update from chez avocadoze.

As it’s Christmas, we’ve forgiven the cat on the grounds that she is very cute, and currently being a curled up ball of fluff on the sofa.

The little mousey fuckers have stayed away and the smell from the dead ones has subsided. Xmas Grin

My mum poisoned mice about 2 days before Christmas one year. The smell was awful.
