Little mousey fuckers have eaten all the stocking fillers

One large Lindt bear
Four bags of chocolate coins
Two marzipan logs
One tube of smarties
Box of heroes
Tube of chocolate buttons
Tray of Reece’s treats
The cotton bag the coins were in

Little shredded bits of foil, plastic and paper all over the cupboard. Cat gives me a nonchalant look and goes back to sleep.

AIBU to fire the cat, go through all our food cupboards to check for recon mice and engage in all-our war with the little buggers?

Get more cats. Eventually one won't be shit.

PlumsGalore · 14/12/2019 16:16

Are you sure it’s mice,?

I’ve already eaten a whole hotel chocolate advent calendar, two tubes of smarties and the best part of a box of crackers.

SoEverybodyDance · 14/12/2019 16:19

Beautiful cat...

avocadoze · 14/12/2019 16:21

I am liking the kitty pictures. DH is accusing me of browsing more efficient models...

Have just been to Lidl to get more marzipan, Reece’s and chocolate coins, and will put them in an ammo can Grin

Are you even sure it’s mice? Your DH and kids might have found your stash.
Please do not use glue traps or poison.

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 14/12/2019 16:26

They like to have a lot of babies too , one year in a box of cornflakes and toaster. 😲

avocadoze · 14/12/2019 16:28

I thought it was the kids at first as there was a chunk out of the top of the Lindt bear. But even the kids don’t chew through cotton and foil. It’s possible that the kids have been colluding with the mice though. Them and the damn cat Grin

We no longer have a mouse problem since the cat who was bringing them in and releasing them died Sad. I too had a live mouse brought to me in my sickbed like a PP.

More gruesomely we do have mice in the garage, we have a bucket under the garage tap to catch drips and I noticed it was full, in it were floating the corpses of six dead mice. I have no idea how or why they go in there and it was possibly the most horrible thing I’ve ever had to deal with. Then I noticed the dead crow in the gutter. This is a house of horrors.

LookingGlassMilk · 14/12/2019 16:38

My sister used to keep Easter eggs in her room, she wouldn't eat them because they were boy band themed and she was keeping them as souvenirs. Eventually a mouse ate them all.
The mouse also ate a months supply of her contraceptive pills. I wonder what effect the hormones had on it.

zukiecat · 14/12/2019 16:42

Here are my two girls,

They also expect mice brought to them on a golden cushion, though the tabby one loves a nice crunchy spider

that cat look like the king of hi household hehe.

GlamGiraffe · 14/12/2019 16:49

Are there any wires or pipes going into the cupboard? Stuff up all the holes around them with wire wool, they go through holes as small as the pointy end of a biro

I have an entirely different problem on my hands this feline us the chocolate theif. It stealthily pruses open chocolate containing cupboards and munches the lot. Many a chocolate coin has gone that way before I realised

She’s too pretty to catch mice

PixieN · 14/12/2019 16:52

We do as @Tighnabruaich suggested. Only once have I accounted a very clever mouse who managed to nab the peanut butter without getting caught - twice! Caught him on the third go and successfully released. Please don’t use the sticky stuff. So in humane. I’ve heard horrible stories of mice gnawing their own feet off in their desperation to get away 🤢😔

PixieN · 14/12/2019 16:53

Your cat is gorgeous by the way - I would forgive her 😻

BigSandyBalls2015 · 14/12/2019 16:54

Completely missing the point here ... but 3 for a tenner in hotel chocolat!! I didn’t see that!!

sueelleker · 14/12/2019 16:54

My sister's cat chewed the chocolate tree decorations one year, and left little tags of foil hanging from the branches.

JoyceJames · 14/12/2019 16:55

It was definitely not the children?

Ravenrob · 14/12/2019 16:56

What a feast they've had!

PixieN · 14/12/2019 16:58

We have the opposite problem. This one is an amazing mouser and leaves them for us at the bottom of the stairs - have to watch where we tread every morning!

sticky traps are your friend ... they're evil, I urge everyone to steer clear of these cruel traps!! Angry

Glentherednosedbattleostrich · 14/12/2019 17:02

You need to borrow madmutt. She loves to groom cats and catch mice so win win.

mycatisawesome · 14/12/2019 17:03

I've had the same problem , shoved presents in loft so small people's isn't see them , got the out and the mousey guys have eaten 60 quid of stuff , chocs, socks hair bows , PJ's , I cried lol

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/12/2019 17:05

That cat is FAR too beautiful to have to earn its keep

I totally agree; just looking at it would be privilege enough, without expecting mousing duties too

Then again, one of mine's an enthusiastic killer but not much to look at - which just goes to show that in life you can't have it all Wink
