To think all conservative voters aren't thinking of others?

I realise this doesn't convert anyone and at this point I'm not trying to. But I just don't think anyone who really cares for the welfare of others votes conservative. We know.chikd poverty is highest for 60 years, people are actually dying due to underfunding services (I can link to the research on this if needed). So conservative voters have prioritised brexit and their dislike for Jeremy Corbyn over actually helping others. Whatever way you look at it it wasn't the kind option. Realise I will get flamed for this but it's just how i feel. It's the cruel party and I'm ashamed to be British right now with how everyone voted. Also they had such a dodgy deceitful campaign and as it was rewarded I guess that's the future of politics now :/
I'm not sad labour didn't win, they were never going to. I'm sad at how much conservatives won by as the selfish option that's basically saying it's fine for everything to continue being awful for those struggling.

Ugh. How embarrassing.

@theredjellybean

I’m sure that you, like my DH, have a lot of animosity directed towards you anyway by others.
MN and others fucking hate bankers and those in finance/most high paying jobs yet don’t seem to appreciate the benefits of the already high levels of tax being paid.

Pissing off multi millionaires and billionaires by attempting to rinse all their money is just idiocy. And it’s amazing the job JC of getting people to believe it was such a tiny tax increase at the higher levels!

Tanith · 14/12/2019 14:41

"The tories were left a pile of shit by Blair, who actually left a leaving note saying he’d spent all the money."

Another sleight of hand to demonise Tony Blair.

No, he didn't leave any such note. It was a joke left by the Labour Chief Secretary to the Chancellor, not Tony Blair. Such notes were traditional jokes between the departing and new governments.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/oct/12/labour-liam-byrne-lowest-point-theres-no-money-note

That year, they had a LibDem chancellor. Of course, their party had never been in power until the Coalition and had no knowledge of the tradition, David Laws therefore lost no time in making capital for political purposes.

It's just one reason why I dislike the opportunist LibDems.

LoveNote · 14/12/2019 14:42

this thread has actually made me thankful that conservatives won!!

crispysausagerolls · 14/12/2019 14:42

@tanith

You are right - Tony Blair shouldn’t be demonised over this “joke”.

He should be demonised for being a fucking war criminal.

soggysaladdays · 14/12/2019 14:53

The Tories do not encourage personal responsibility. T
They have been in power for 9 years and the streets are awash with drugs. There are more children being taken into care than ever before because of drug, alcohol, crime and domestic violence issues. . The total number of looked after children in the UK has increased every year since 2010.
I am a foster carer, I am currently caring for a 2 year old on a long term care order. He is one of the most vulnerable people in society, sadly for him the state is his parent. He hasn't had an allocated social worker for months because of staff shortages. I voted for his future and I definitely didn't vote Tory.

crispysausagerolls · 14/12/2019 15:20

The Tories do not encourage personal responsibilitY

Wut?

This is literally exactly what they encourage: working and paying for yourself. Not relying on others. Being independent.

SilverySurfer · 14/12/2019 15:43

Were all the Labour voters with their hand out, expecting Corbyn to fill it with money thinking of others? I don't think so.

People voted Tory because they think it's best for the country - and voted against Labour propelling the country into a pit of financial disaster for years to come, not to mention Momentum who would love to turn us into a communist state.

Thanks but no thanks and fortunately a vast percentage of other people feel the same way. Labour support has been decimated for a reason. Unless you can understand the reason why, nothing will change.

Fatasfooook · 14/12/2019 15:46

Yanbu. The uk has Stockholm syndrome for the tories. Selfish racist stupid vile country we have become.

NameChangeNugget · 14/12/2019 15:49

Meaningless drivel Biscuit

ChristmasCakeLover · 14/12/2019 15:52

Yabu. I know a lot of working class people, some working low paid in the nhs and some having to have benefits who voted tory. It wasn't my choice but if you stereotype like you are then it's worth debating and hearing the views of someone who you suspect to vote less austerity because of how you think their circumstances dictate.

I Don't think you can typecast everyone. A few sure they show their leanings openly, majority no. My family were surprised when i told them my choice.

allthingsred · 14/12/2019 16:09

Yanbu. Far from uniting the country. The division's have only gotten worse. I can't think of anything that will unite us now.
I genuinely had faith that people were inherently good & would want people's misery due to cuts made to stop.

Obviously I have been living in a deluded bubble.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/12/2019 16:27

(Tory voters) don’t have the ability to care about anyone but themselves
Just focus on the people that deserve your energy

I don't dispute that some may be selfish, but where's the value in demonising an entire group? By all means remove the focus from everyone who voted Tory this time, but at least accept what you've done if it means Labour becoming permanently unelectable

Justcallmebebes · 14/12/2019 16:30

I voted Tory and slept very well last night thank you

Illeana · 14/12/2019 16:35

It’s the same as people who buy battery eggs - they don’t want the hens to suffer but they like the cheap eggs.

Ringdonna · 14/12/2019 16:42

Stop talking bollocks OP.

CharlottesPleb · 14/12/2019 17:23

You're not doing anything wrong by thinking the best of people. That's admirable.

What you've done wrong there is tie people being good or bad with which political party they vote for. That is not how people work at all.

Tanith · 14/12/2019 17:26

"He should be demonised for being a fucking war criminal."

Well, again: tell me when Tony Blair was convicted as a war criminal. Or are you demonising him based on hearsay and your own prejudice?

Actionhasmagic · 14/12/2019 17:27

Yanbu it’s very sad but these poor people will only suffer at the hands of their own vote

Parker231 · 14/12/2019 17:33

And Brexit hasn’t even started yet. As a European (and holder of an EU passport) Brexit day will be a very sad day for me.

midnightmisssuki · 14/12/2019 17:50

It is an awkward fact for many on the left that the partial privatisation of the English National Health Service – started by the New Labour government in 2003...... but yes. The conservatives are the horrid ones who want to privatise the NHS. The last two days I’ve been called a cunt, murderer of the sick, selfish, racist among other things, one even asked me if I was going back to where I came from - this from a labour supporter and all Because I voted conservatives. I have said nothing in return Because what’s the point? You can call us whatever you like - most conservatives I know will take the moral high ground and say nothing - your just making labour supporters look worse and worse. I thought this country allowed free speech, the last few days - have made me think maybe not, especially if you vote for the conservatives, and many people did. It’s quite sad really.

Andysbestadventure · 14/12/2019 17:57

God so Labour voters are the new Remoaners now?

Bore off OP. I didn't vote Tory but I am fed up with the bullshit some Labour voters have come out with in the past 24hrs.

It's not a fucking competition, it's an Election.

You didn't gain power.

Now off you fuck.

orcaaa · 14/12/2019 18:05

Hmm

I don’t vote based on which party will be ‘kind.’

Being kind is noble but a good PM will have to make tough decisions when needed.

Kindness is for charity, not politics.

timeforawine · 14/12/2019 18:05

Sod off OP. Bloody sick of the Tory bashing threads now, you make the Labour party even less attractive seeing as most of you bully Conservative supporters

Whattodoabout · 14/12/2019 18:06

YANBU but the Tories have always been the nasty party. They only care about themselves and in turn, their voters do too.
