To still like Jeremy Corbyn?

I think it's right that he stepped down as the public clearly didn't get him...hated him even but i think he stands for the good in society. I actually think he is correctvto call out Israel for being bastards to Palestine and whilst ge apparently supports terroism ( ira), i think he is a negotiator ...the UK shafted Ireland hugely and the IRA is a consequence of that. We need people to negotiate with them.
I slso think remaining neutral on Brexit was the right thing to do but respecting the will of the people.

I don't hate Boris but he has got away with a lot. He has said many racist slurs, he hates women, he has multiple illegitimate children yet blames women, he switched sides re Brexit, oh and he's happy to trade with people like Saudi Arabia who have awful human rights. But apparently Jeremy is the bad one.

But I’m not an economist so I can’t stand there and say I know everything that would have happened if that manifesto had been implemented. I believe these people, though:

A period of reflection ok, I’d prefer we’ve listened and changes will be made. A bit more active rather than passive sounding. But words aside I really hope the next Labour leader is a good strong choice who can realistically win.

But it’s a common error to demand action rather than thought and then action.

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 09:46

Have the thought Church yes have that. More than that actually. Really assess what went wrong. Don’t judge against set criteria. Assess the criteria first.

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 09:48

And be honest about the failings and why. Not deflect onto other reasons. Which is happening all over mn, deflection,

churchandstate · 16/12/2019 09:50

I have given you my honest assessment of what went wrong. I am sure many people in the Labour Party and PLP have other ideas. They now need to discuss those ideas at length, not jump to the right and throw the baby out with the bath water. But what they need in order to do that is some cover. There’s no point in having everyone jump out to the right in December, when there is a much longer conversation to be had, and a new consensus to be reached.

AuntSpiker · 16/12/2019 09:54

I do agree that a new consensus needs to be reached. I bet it won't include a 4 day week though Wink

churchandstate · 16/12/2019 09:56

AuntSpiker

Probably not!

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 09:56

Phew
And drop the broadband ;

churchandstate · 16/12/2019 10:00

MarshaBradyo

I don’t get the big fuss about broadband. Decent broadband looks like a much-needed public service to me, and without enriching telecoms companies further.

churchandstate · 16/12/2019 10:02

But I would prefer to provide a minimum level of free water, gas and electricity.

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 10:02

When we have issues like NHS crumbling it’s an irrelevant distraction and huge expense. That’s the problem the manifesto with its confetti of promises and over spending. You need to cut back and be realistic.

bruffin · 16/12/2019 10:03

But it’s a common error to demand action rather than thought and then action
What about thought then action before the event rather than after

churchandstate · 16/12/2019 10:04

bruffin

Well, hindsight is 20:20. I don’t see the point in self-flagellation.

churchandstate · 16/12/2019 10:05

MarshaBradyo

But the Labour position was that better access to broadband would be beneficial for the economy. I can’t really argue with that.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 16/12/2019 10:06

YANBU. Corbyn is a symbol of the good in society and what politics should be. Johnson is a symptom of the working class in this country seemingly having an inherent desire to be ruled by Born to Rule, upper class “betters”. This nightmare of an election has really shaken me; I’m from a traditional WC family from a post-industrial community and I thought we had evolved beyond tugging our forelocks and doffing our caps at these vile Old Boys Network leaders.

I feel very sad and very disillusioned but I still think a lot of Corbyn. As a PP said, history will be kinder to him than we have been in the present. Best Prime Minister we never had.

churchandstate · 16/12/2019 10:14

You need to cut back and be realistic.

Cuts? Please say you’re joking.

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 10:16

Oh god this is painful, like the election, cut back on promises and on the overspending Church. Get with it.

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 10:16

I’ll leave you to quote other posters because it’s like talking to a brick wall.

churchandstate · 16/12/2019 10:21

Even Johnson knows that he has to say he is going to invest in public services, Marsha. You are asking for more austerity. Please stop pretending to be anywhere on the left.

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 10:23

Listen I know you find it hard Corbyn promised too much so decrease the number of promises .

I am not talking about further austerity or not investing you wally.

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 10:24

I know certain words have a trigger reaction for you but you need to read the post.

churchandstate · 16/12/2019 10:26

MarshaBradyo

A trigger reaction 😂 Don’t patronise me. Your comment was ambiguous.

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 10:26

Well it was wasn’t it

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 10:27

You didn’t read it properly not my issue
