To think it’s utterly disgraceful that Corbyn hasn’t resigned

The man is the reason the Labour Party didn’t stand a chance in the GE

Yet today he doesn’t even have the good grace or integrity to step aside

Is their anyone at all who supports him in that decision?

Yes, and the electorate have told him that it wasn’t what they wanted. Time for someone else to have a go.

For sure. He’s resigning.

GCAcademic · 13/12/2019 20:50

The Tory party got 30% of the vote in 1997, less than Labour got yesterday. Hardly “over” is it?

The one thing the Tory party is great at is picking itself up and making pragmatic choices to get itself back into power.

The current Labour party is incapable of the self-reflection that is required to do that. All it will do is continue to blame the thick plebs and uppity TERFs for not voting the right way.

In a democracy, you have to offer something to people. Not tell them they are wrong if they aren't thinking in the approved way, and then demand they vote for you to demonstrate their moral integrity.

I’m not convinced anyone did this.

Bearbehind · 13/12/2019 20:51

Fair enough church

I would be interested to understand why for example you think middle income people need their broadband paying for them though

And why that’s the best use of government funds

@BelleSausage

Rather egotistical. I think we can quite happily win an election without you personally. Give it time ;)

churchandstate · 13/12/2019 20:53

I don’t. It’s the poorest people who need free broadband. However, by making it a universal standard it’s simply easier to implement, in my opinion.

Paintedmaypole · 13/12/2019 20:53

There isn't a hurry, we are looking at a 5 year Tory government now. Some people just want drama. Over the next few weeks a new Labour leader will be elected. There is a procedure, Corbyn couldn't control the process if he wanted to.

CallmeAngelina · 13/12/2019 20:54

The man himself is fucking amazing.

Grin Thanks for that. I needed a laugh.

Bearbehind · 13/12/2019 20:55

But ‘easy’ = ‘expensive’ which makes it unviable and hence a joke

I want to thank corbyn, a passionate leaver at heart, for paving the way for brexit and this tory landslide.

However I think he is a nasty piece of work, his dithering and wishy washy comments over anti sematism are unbelievable in this day and age.

As Johnny rotten shouted out

'' fuck you corbyn, I am a jew. ''

BelleSausage · 13/12/2019 20:55

@TheBlueStocking

Sorry to break it to you but you’re going to need the centrist voters back to get enough seats. It’s not just me you need but everyone like me- all the moderates that have been turned off by hard left policies and all the swing voters too. Plus all those voters in Sedgefield and Redcar who Corbyn put off voting Labour this time.

birdsarecute45 · 13/12/2019 20:55

This Labour party could not win against this Tory party led by Boris Johnson.

JC is toxic. He is poison. He and his cronies could not win at this time, against Boris.

It's Jeremy and Momentum who are to blame. They are pure pure poison. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.

noblegiraffe · 13/12/2019 20:55

if I'd known how bad the activists were finding it on the doorsteps, if they'd been honest about just how bad it actually was, I would have felt a lot differently about the whole direction of the party

What?? How can you possibly have been oblivious to how bad it was? Poll after poll has shown him to be an issue, his approval ratings have been shit. Compare him to Johnson.

I think we're forgetting we're one the richest nations on earth. Of course we can afford to keep people from dying on the streets.

We've afforded years of expensive, pointless Brexit bollocks, haven't we?

Trewser · 13/12/2019 20:58

expensive, pointless Brexit bollocks

Is that what you said when you were campaigning for Labour?!

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 21:01

Yy academic

I just said the same thing on another thread

We have seen time, and time and time and time and time again..... This labour line up, including chukka etc has literally NO Capacity for self reflection at all. They need totally clearing out entirely... And new mps in who are actually connected to Labour values.

Really really sad to see '' old boys '' all sat round working man's club, sadly saying they are lifetime labor voters who feel upset they way they have been spoken too by the likes of Tom Watson and Emily thornberry etc.

How awful.... They have leant them life time support and that's how their party treats them.

Many red umbilical cords were cut today.

nespressowoo · 13/12/2019 21:01

He needs to go ASAP.

MoobaaMoobaa · 13/12/2019 21:02

churchandstate He and momentum have not listened to their members, their chore voters and even floating voters.

It has been known a long time, that his policies were to hard left and ideological for the mainstream and even most Labour voters. A change of tac was needed a more realistic manifesto.
You may think no his ideals should never be watered down, but if you want to implement those ideals you NEED to be elected. So you NEED to appeal to the electorate to gets votes.

Also
Listening to members and voters about thier concerns would have been great, instead of hurtling insults, abuse and chasing them out of their own party.
people saw this and they didn't like it one bit.

You can not run a party on 'my way or the high way' People end up choosing the high way. rather than be bullied

TheBlueStocking · 13/12/2019 21:02

Is that what you said when you were campaigning for Labour?!

Didn't need to. We think the Conservatives are bellends around here.

BelleSausage · 13/12/2019 21:03

@TheBlueStocking

What I want you to think about is that we’ve just had an opportunity to help the poor and support those in need and it has been pissed up the wall by people so obsessed with pure socialist ideas that they couldn’t even admit that their man was unelectable.

Any About leader would have offered improvements to social care and the NHS. They all believe in it.

But Corbyn supports chose their ideals over getting the country a Labour government in power.

All because they couldn’t give up their man for someone less purely Marxist.

Congratulations, your high minded ideals cost the people of this country a REAL chance at a Labour government.

I bet you wish you hadn’t told so many of us the fuck off and vote Tory because we couldn’t love Jeremy. You got what you wished for.

Paintedmaypole · 13/12/2019 21:03

I don't see Corbyn as a toxic, nasty peice of work at all. Lots of hysteria and drama on here. He had a vision for the UK that a majority of the electorate did not share. He doesn't particularly strike me as egotistical either.

Sandra2010 · 13/12/2019 21:03

@ThisTurkeysNot4Christmas
It's not communism! Sick of having to say this to people. Corbyn and McDonnell have made no secret of their own politics. They admit to leaning towards Marxism. The manifesto though was a socialist based, perfectly attainable manifesto, many of the policies of which operate perfectly well in many European countries.

CallmeAngelina · 13/12/2019 21:03

I'm not the slightest bit surprised he's going to hang on by his fingertips for months.
I am FURIOUS with him. If ever we needed a strong opposition, it's been now. And the party damn well knew he was unelectable and he was so hell-bent on power he refused to go.
And now look where we are!
Add to that, his blatant patronising sneer when talking to the media (and therefore directly to us in our homes) and taking us for fools by ridiculous and unnecessary lies (I don't give a fuck if he watches the Queen's speech on Christmas Day, but don't fucking well lie so obviously and expect that we're too stupid to notice) and crazy promises to cure the world of all its ills by splashing money he didn't have.

noblegiraffe · 13/12/2019 21:04

lifetime labor voters who feel upset they way they have been spoken too by the likes of Tom Watson and Emily thornberry etc

Grouping Tom Watson with Emily Thornberry seems a bit odd?

Corbyn and co fucking hate Tom Watson.
