To think it’s utterly disgraceful that Corbyn hasn’t resigned

Bearbehind · 13/12/2019 19:19

The man is the reason the Labour Party didn’t stand a chance in the GE

Yet today he doesn’t even have the good grace or integrity to step aside

Is their anyone at all who supports him in that decision?

people do not like him so much that they voted for Boris fucking Johnson, do you really think that the majority of people wanted Boris as leader? We didn’t, but we wanted Corbyn less.

I like him. Ten million people voted Labour - are they not “people”?

Bearbehind · 13/12/2019 20:25

and it would have required some thought to learn about how economics works

People did think, and they realised Labours proposals didn’t add up

As with the LibDems when Jo Swinson did the decent thing this morning, nothing to stop deputy leaders etc providing temporary leadership to give that 'period of reflection' and organising a proper leadership campaign.

BelleSausage · 13/12/2019 20:25

@churchandstate

Well done for taking responsibility. You fucked up but you’ve apologised. It’s the first step.

blackice · 13/12/2019 20:26

It's irrelevant whether he resigns now or down the road. It's over

noblegiraffe · 13/12/2019 20:26

Ten million people voted Labour

I’m pretty sure quite a few of them voted despite Corbyn not because of him. Tactical voting, holding their noses. That’s not an endorsement, if Boris Johnson hadn’t been such a total shithead, the Tories could have done even better.

Trewser · 13/12/2019 20:26

I actually applauded Alan Johnson when he roasted Jon Momentum. He was spot on. Stupid cult with student politics

churchandstate · 13/12/2019 20:26

BelleSausage

I don’t understand what you mean. How is voting for the party whose policies you support “fucking up”?

churchandstate · 13/12/2019 20:27

I’m pretty sure quite a few of them voted despite Corbyn not because of him. Tactical voting, holding their noses.

Corbyn is very popular with true left wing voters.

BelleSausage · 13/12/2019 20:30

@churchandstate

Oh, so sorry. I thought you were admitting that if Jeremy is at fault then so are you. Correct on both counts.

It’s your support that has kept him in place and lost Labour the election.

I will blame Jeremy Corbyn for Brexit and destroying the party I belonged to for the rest of my life. Until he goes I won’t touch Labour again.

Ravenesque · 13/12/2019 20:30

I am so tired of this shit.

He is a good and decent man but from the very first moment he became leader of the party he has had to deal with the centre-right of the party doing everything they could to undermine him or oust him. On top of that, he's had to put up with lies, damn lies, and more lies printed in the media, attempts at character assassination and an establishment that was not going to be happy until they destroyed him.

The policies that he and the party brought forward for the GE would have made life better for just about all of us and especially for those who are currently the most deprived. He has given his life to the party and to helping people in need, but today, hours after what will turn out to be a tragic result for our country, the knives are still out.

Get a grip. He is leaving, just not today because today is not the day to do it. It's not going to change the result, it's not going to make everything all right again. So, for all the haters, just bloody wait and if you want to be angry, be angry with people who saw their communities destroyed under Thatcher in the 80s but decided that Brexit was more important than the NHS, tackling child poverty, improving education, looking out for those who are most vulnerable and human decency, so they voted for the Conservatives.

And yes, I do support him in that decision and those who don't need to place their ire elsewhere.

noblegiraffe · 13/12/2019 20:30

true left wing voters.

Oh dear. Anyone who doesn’t like Corbyn can’t possibly be left wing because left wingers really like the presiding-over-antisemitism, terrorist-complimenting, brittle stubborn old man who even in hideous defeat is unwilling to relinquish his death grip on the party?

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 13/12/2019 20:30

which is why an interim leader would be appointed.

That still puts pressure on to find a new leader quickly imo. What's the rush?

churchandstate · 13/12/2019 20:31

thought you were admitting that if Jeremy is at fault then so are you. Correct on both counts.

Yes but you missed the “if”. I don’t think JC did anything but present the policies he has spent a lifetime supporting. If people didn’t like them, or him, so what? That’s democracy.

ImGoingToBangYourHeadsTogether · 13/12/2019 20:31

Reading some of the replies on here is so sad, what will it take to get through to the die hard Labour fans that he is unelectable, people do not like him so much that they voted for Boris fucking Johnson, do you really think that the majority of people wanted Boris as leader?

Tough. You voted for him. You take the consequences.

As for "we didn't like him" do you realise how juvenile you sound? It's all about "liking" people socially now isn't it? Not actually looking at the evidence, not looking at the facts, just what he looks like and whether he smiles right for the cameras and tousles his hair.

The economic policies "not adding up": I have to admit I was sceptical about doing everything straight away. But if you think austerity, the Tories, and the class system 'adds up' better - your choice. I'll look to protect my own now.

Trewser · 13/12/2019 20:31

"True" left wing voters

I rest my case

ThisTurkeysNot4Christmas · 13/12/2019 20:32

@ImGoingToBangYourHeadsTogether why not go the whole hog and say the Holocaust was made up?
Oh I forgot, someone in Labour said that.

Carry on living in your fantasy world.

You clearly have no idea of Marxism and what McDonnell wanted to do. Poor duped Labour voters. Caring Labour? Show us one successful model of communism and socialism in the world that doesn't rely on force and dictators.

Gullible and dim.Ignorant of how economics works.

TheBlueStocking · 13/12/2019 20:32

In the safe Labour area I campaigned in, which covered two constituencies, there was a lot - a LOT - of resounding support for Corbyn.

He's well loved. You may not like him, but he is very well loved by a considerable number of people.

churchandstate · 13/12/2019 20:32

noblegiraffe

It is what it is. He’s popular with the left, not with the moderates in the Labour Party. I get that you don’t like him, but I do, and that is my democratic right. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 13/12/2019 20:32

Ravenesque

Well said.

Yetanotherwinter · 13/12/2019 20:32

@berryfull he’s so fucking amazing he didn’t get a look in. The worst loss since 1935. Speaks volumes.

noblegiraffe · 13/12/2019 20:33

What's the rush?

So you don’t think there should be any pressure to find a new leader? Given the absolute shitshow of yesterday?

No one taking responsibility?

Labour can just pootle on?

ImGoingToBangYourHeadsTogether · 13/12/2019 20:33

brittle stubborn old man who even in hideous defeat is unwilling to relinquish his death grip on the party?

There's no evidence of the rest of it so I won't bother quoting for that.

Listen to yourself. FFS once. Listen to yourself. He is going. It's been announced. Grow up.

BelleSausage · 13/12/2019 20:33

true left wing voters.

I see we’ve reached ‘no true Scotsman territory’. Brilliant.

You do realise that you need the support and votes of more than just ‘true’ Labour voters to win. That’s the whole fucking point of an election campaign- to persuade those who don’t already follow you to vote for your party.

This right here is how Corbyn and his followers let down the country. They should have let someone electable have a go.

Trewser · 13/12/2019 20:33

TheBlueStocking

Wow, two whole constituencies
