To think it’s utterly disgraceful that Corbyn hasn’t resigned

The man is the reason the Labour Party didn’t stand a chance in the GE

Yet today he doesn’t even have the good grace or integrity to step aside

Is their anyone at all who supports him in that decision?

“This report {The Equalities Trust} should shock anyone who cares about the state of the UK today,” said Dr Wanda Wyporska, the executive director of the Equality Trust. “Such a huge gap between the very rich and the vast majority of the country is dangerous. Such extreme wealth in the hands of so few people demonstrates just how broken the economic system is.

Corbyn was going to go after the SUPER-rich. (Billionaires) The genius of the Tory campaign was that plumbers, plasterers and PAs feel like he was going to go after them.

Bravo, Boris. Well played. You are a total and utter genius.

Justanotherlurker · 13/12/2019 21:51

Labour's problem right now is that the people they reckon they represent - the working class - do not want labour to represent them.

It wasn't so much Labour, more its vocal supporters, there is a reason why Corbyn has been fence sitting for the past 3 years. They have had 3 years to try and address the problem of Labour heartlands supporting brexit and the 'always voted labour but am so anti neolib' supporters have called them thick and uneducated.

It's a time for self reflection, but it seems some are still in the denial stage and lashing out, it highlights that critical thinking is severely lacking, ironically enough its those who are trying to lash out that needs it far more than those who are considered to have voted the wrong way.

MN has been wrong politically for over a decade now, some people need to wake up to the echo chamber.

noblegiraffe · 13/12/2019 21:53

Corbyn was going to go after the SUPER-rich. (Billionaires)

People on over 80k aren’t billionaires. Neither are most people with their kids in private schools. Or married people.

And normal people looking at the promises could tell the costs would filter down to them too.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 13/12/2019 21:54

I’m not sure what Cameron was actually meant to have done but resign

Corbyn will stay to try and influence who shall be the next leader someone he feels is suitable not who the electorate would vote for to be PM

Yay for Corbyn how to keep labour in opposition, be an utterly useless leader and lose a large number of seats this is his achievement

itgetshardereveryday · 13/12/2019 21:54

And the broadband thing. Can't understand the hatred. It just seems like libraries for the 21st century. I expect the wealthy didn't want free books available when libraries came to prominence.

Internet is already free in libraries? Confused

NonnoMum · 13/12/2019 21:57

Data about millions of NHS patients has been sold to US and other international pharmaceutical companies for research, the Observer has learned, raising new fears about America’s growing ambitions to access lucrative parts of the health service after Brexit.

pencils a question slightly on a tangent, but you don't want the government knowing that you've been doing your online shop again, or viewing property porn, (although i understood the broadband thing was only about the connectivity, not the content - happy to be corrected) but you don't mind big pharma having access to your health data?

Justanotherlurker · 13/12/2019 21:57

And the broadband thing. Can't understand the hatred.

Well the slippery slope that you obviously don't believe in, could be do you want the tories having control of your internet connection.

Thats before Labour seriously underplayed how much it would actually cost, on top of that look at all government IT projects over the past few years.

It was a simple populist vote grab for the lowest common denominator to those who are easily led by freebies.

NonnoMum · 13/12/2019 22:04

Yes, of course internet is free in libraries, but if you want to run your own business from home, you want to access information, you are housebound or have limited mobility, you are studying or reading, wouldn't broadband help in those cases?

I just find it strange that this policy was such a deal breaker for so many, whilst the winner of the election could avoid interviews, lie on camera, be caused of a domestic disturbance, lie to the queen, illegally prorogue parliament and just generally be Teflon man yet come out with a huge majority.

Again, seems like the twilight zone.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 13/12/2019 22:05

Corbyn will hang on so McDonnell can set up the scene ready for the next momentum candidate. McDonnell has already put the plan in place with his comments that the next labour leader should be a woman. Enter stage left Rebecca Long Bailey as Corbynistas and mcdonnell’s pet.

MimiCaeger · 13/12/2019 22:06

There was a smear campaign against him. The media is controlled by the right

NonnoMum · 13/12/2019 22:07

Thank you - I understand it a bit more now.
So was the hatred of the broadband policy that it felt too much of a freebie?

theunknownknown · 13/12/2019 22:08

I will blame Jeremy Corbyn for Brexit and destroying the party I belonged to for the rest of my life. Until he goes I won’t touch Labour again
Grow the fuck up. Brexit is a Tory shit storm. And theirs alone. But just like all the other smearing, it is somehow JC's fault.
Own your fucking shit storm like every other Tory voter. I expect none of you will be shouting how you voted in this election in a few years time when the worst of Brexit comes to pass.
And you'll deserve every bit of it. You voted for it - take responsibility for it.
You opted to vote for a morally bankrupt lying adulterer. Shame on you.

noblegiraffe · 13/12/2019 22:08

I just find it strange that this policy was such a deal breaker for so many

The deal breaker for so many was the leadership. Policies were a much more minor issue.

Justanotherlurker · 13/12/2019 22:08

Data about millions of NHS patients has been sold to US and other international pharmaceutical companies for research, the Observer has learned, raising new fears about America’s growing ambitions to access lucrative parts of the health service after Brexit.

Do you understand the idea of Big Data, do you use facebook, apple, amazon, google, any social media site including MN, have you used a genealogy service such as 23 and me etc, maybe researched your family tree?

You trying to score some political point on this shows you lack little knowledge of what already is shared, it's going to be looked at in history as a comparison to the advent of the printing press.

PencilsInSpace · 13/12/2019 22:08

but you don't mind big pharma having access to your health data?

What makes you think that? Of course I mind.

MrsFezziwig · 13/12/2019 22:09

I think we can quite happily win an election without you personally.
I doubt it, without me personally and people like me you would have lost even more seats than you actually did.

Justanotherlurker · 13/12/2019 22:14

Also, if you think a Corbyn government would cut back on that whilst having control of everyones internet access would be any different shows you are just reading headlines.

I bet you have no problem with with 5 eyes drag netting all your internet data as you have nothing to hide so nothing to fear.

Trying to political point score over this is your typical a little knowledge is dangerous meme, or at worse just reading simplistic articles from media outlets you prefer and being spoon fed what you should be worries about at worst.

Corbyn must have heard party members like Caroline Flint saying how much voters disliked him. And still he stays. Arrogant arsehole.

NonnoMum · 13/12/2019 22:25

Ok - I'm losing track of this debate now, although I would like to have discussed more as I do want to fact check and investigate who I vote/d for and not just go for headlines, and I also tried to get my news from many sources as obviously every outlet has its bias.
However, I don't think I can respond quickly enough to responses. Not sure what 5 eyes is and i can't respond quickly enough about my little knowledge.
Am happy to be put right. Maybe Jeremy Corbyn steps on kittens and didn't deserve my vote. I don't know - that hasn't been reported.
What I DO know is the points I made about Boris Johnson earlier. I think they were all facts.
Therefore I stand by my assertion that the Tory campaign ran a genius campaign to return this man to No 10.

Justanotherlurker · 13/12/2019 22:26

Grow the fuck up. Brexit is a Tory shit storm. And theirs alone. But just like all the other smearing, it is somehow JC's fault.

And the problem for Labour was the heartlands voting for it, trying to still try and paint it as a con v labour issue is why labour have suffered the defeat they did.

There was a reason why a life long (by his voting record) eurosceptic was fence sitting. The welcomed principled man was only part of the problem why labour lost, you being out of touch also contributed when you still try and frame 3 year old arguments as relative.

NonnoMum · 13/12/2019 22:28

Oh, and Russian interference. Happy to be told that any suggestion of that was just some sort of Momentum nonsense and not a distinct possibility as the Tories were withholding some sort of report?
As I said, always happy to be put right by facts. I understand that I may have been reading fake news.

cardibach · 13/12/2019 22:31

What’s really striking here is the determination of Tory voters to take the shit storm they know brexit will be, which was set in train by a Tory government, negotiated by a Tory government and will now be delivered by a Tory government and somehow make it Labour’s fault. You know it’s going to be shit and yet you voted for it and you won’t take responsibility.

theunknownknown · 13/12/2019 22:38

The welcomed principled man was only part of the problem why labour lost, you being out of touch also contributed when you still try and frame 3 year old arguments as relative
Can you explain what you mean by this - apologies, I've been at work for 11 hours today but none of what you say makes sense to me.
I can't tell if you are being sarky or not.
But I don't see how pointing out that Brexit is a Tory fuck-up and is owned by the Tories alone (and now will be delivered by Tories alone) is a three year old argument?
You cannot in all good faith blame JC for Brexit. He has spent three years trying to be measured about it because of Labour leavers who turned out in force for the Tory party last night.
So Brexit is the fault of the Tory party and every single Tory voter. That is not a three year old argument.
