I think it is.

votes, not voted. It's never fucking ending.

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 12/12/2019 23:10

Well that’s just it- we have no assembly. Those that will be announced tomorrow couldnt agree on the sky being blue if you paid them to (ha! We are paying them to!) How the fuck could they steer us through the reunification of Ireland? They can’t and they won’t. NI is in a terrible state right now- It’s going to be ten times worse if there is a ref for reunification.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 12/12/2019 23:11

I think it's better to jump from a burning ship and brave rough water, than stay on the ship and burn to death.

Wouldnt blame Scotland if they ran for the hills.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 12/12/2019 23:12

or NI either.

isabellerossignol · 12/12/2019 23:12

A united Ireland is absolutely inevitable now.

Unless the rest of Ireland doesn't want us. I mean obviously in theory they want us, but in reality? With our poor economy and history of civil unrest, why would they want us in reality?

Dutypaid · 12/12/2019 23:16

Because the rest of ireland doesn't want a hard border or even checks back.

Andahelterskelterroundmylittle · 12/12/2019 23:16

I voted SNP as Westminster representation. Have no words for the predicted UK result . My silver lining is the strengthened position for SNP. Seems only choice when political views are SO divergent

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 12/12/2019 23:17

^^yep. Scotland leaving the U.K. is a massively different kettle of fish than NI leaving the U.K. apples and oranges.

KenDodd · 12/12/2019 23:17

Does anyone know what the exit poll looks like for NI?

OP posts:
Merename · 12/12/2019 23:18

It is, thank fuck. At least we have this hope to hang on to, what is there left for the non tories of England. Come up to us, you’d all be very welcome.

I’m so delighted to hear folk saying here that they are now a yes.

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 12/12/2019 23:18

They didn’t do any.

GruciusMalfoy · 12/12/2019 23:20

I was a Yes last time, and I'd be a Yes again. But I don't even think we'll be allowed to hold another referendum at this point.

skidley · 12/12/2019 23:21

100% would vote for independence. I voted for it last time without too much conviction but have since become an SNP voter. I am hoping after tonight so many more Scots want independence too.

LaurieMarlow · 12/12/2019 23:22

Yes I feel sure it does.

Scotland seems a no brainer. It will just take time,

NI is trickier. I’m originally from there but live in ROI. I’m feeling a definite shift in perceptions here. The idea of a border is such nonsense and NI has been screwed over so badly by Westminister that attitudes here are shifting. A United Ireland makes long term sense.

I hope the English enjoy being out on their own.

BearFoxBear · 12/12/2019 23:22

Yes, and it can't come fast enough. Reading tory voter's jubilant posts clarifies for me that England isn't just another country, its like another planet.

Kpo58 · 12/12/2019 23:22

Do you think that we could have an independent London? Maybe we could be like a new Luxembourg.

Happyspud · 12/12/2019 23:23

A United Ireland is NOT inevitable. The people of Ireland have no interest in taking on NI. And the people of NI will backtrack quickly when they see the price of their groceries, tax and loss of their NHS.

LaurieMarlow · 12/12/2019 23:24

Do you think that we could have an independent London?

Since the brexit vote I’ve been fantasising about London as an independent city state.

KenDodd · 12/12/2019 23:24

@IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory

They didn't do any exit polls for NI? No wonder I couldn't find any.

I think the fact no exit polls were done in NI says everything about England's interest in the place.

OP posts:
Happyspud · 12/12/2019 23:24

Jeez, people are so simplistic about it. Like it’s just a case of joining hands and singing songs together. It’s two different countries. Different everything! And the finances just don’t stack up in any way for either side.

FenellaVelour · 12/12/2019 23:26

I’m very glad I’m married to a Scotsman.

AdalindMeisner · 12/12/2019 23:32

I hope IndyRef 2 happens and it is a big fat yes. According to the previous white paper as the child of a Scottish born parent I would be entitled to Scottish Citizenship as would my children. Currently entitled to Irish Citizenship (but my children aren't). I want us out of this shit show. Sad

CoolCarrie · 12/12/2019 23:38

I wonder what Queenie is thinking? She is going to be raging I bet.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 12/12/2019 23:38

Looks like Boris' position will be so strong that he won't have to do anything he doesn't want to do - and he won't give wee jimmy Krankiee look-likey another referendum any time soon, then again, Scotland do cost us Londoners a lot...maybe he'll have a referendum in England to see if we want Scotland.

ChristaMSieland · 12/12/2019 23:40

Do you mean both Scotland and Ireland? Or are you thinking specifically about Scotland?

I suspect you're right. At least Scottish Independence can probably be achieved without bloodshed. The Irish situation is particularly worrying.
