Just that really - looking for inspiration beyond Charades and the few board games we have in the cupboard.

Ready to buy things - or be inspired by yours¡

Catan! It's brilliant.

Oh, and also Sequence is very good.

CaptainCabinets · 10/12/2019 23:32

Articulate! It’s SO much fun.

Or download Heads Up to your phone?

Cards Against Humanity is hilarious but it really depends on your family dynamic as it’s definitely not suitable for everyone.

What's your AIBU?

BlueJava · 11/12/2019 00:41

Catan and Tokaido

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 11/12/2019 00:46

The "how can I receive this box of chocolates as a gift for me, and manage to actually keep them for me" game...

Christmastreejoy · 11/12/2019 00:47

Century golem and mice and mystics are the 2 I’m most keen to play this Xmas

NoClueWithStyle · 11/12/2019 01:08

Ion, it's a great tactical card game. We all love it.

30to50FeralHogs · 11/12/2019 01:25

Soundiculous was a surprise hit with my teens in the summer. It’s such a simple premise - you get a card and have to make the noise of the thing on the card, but watching people’s faces as they try to imagine how they’re going to make the noise, and then trying to work it out is actually hilarious. We also enjoy poker together -DS2 was 15 this year and had a gang of friend round for a poker game. We bought a trophy and a couple of prizes to add a bit of fun.

30to50FeralHogs · 11/12/2019 01:26

We also bought a big whiteboard for Pictionary, which adds a bit of fun to it.

pallisers · 11/12/2019 01:32

I love heads up and am buying articulate this year as a present for us.

Cards against Humanity is just brilliant for us.We have older teens and have such a laugh. The kids hate that(understandably) dh and I have a very similar sense of humour so they think we gang up a bit. I do find my son's responses hilarious too - he is an utter introvert but such a funny guy.

feckinarse · 11/12/2019 01:39

If you think Cards Against Humanity might be a bit much, Apples to Apples has a similar vibe and can be much more PG but still made absolutely hilarious.

BitOfFun · 11/12/2019 01:40

There's a book on House Of Games that looks fun.

stargazer2030 · 11/12/2019 05:35

Truth Bombs - great game, we all love it

Sparklybaublefest · 11/12/2019 05:59

Last year i printed out a quiz, which was excellent fun

Patte · 11/12/2019 06:35

Interpreting the question broadly to include my friend's teens as we don't have any... Catan; Ticket to Ride; Pandemic; Dominion; Carcassonne. My favourite of those is Pandemic because it's co-operative which I like. All quite strategic but not too complicated. I'm not a massive fan of tech-enabled games but I am thinking about getting Pictionary Air because that looks hilarious. Slightly more wordy games - Sussed, Balderdash and Chameleon are all good.

Oblomov19 · 11/12/2019 06:41

Making notes for some new games to try.

ScribblyGum · 11/12/2019 06:44

We got Codenames out and played that last night at the request of dd1(15). That’s a great game, always makes us laugh.

ScribblyGum · 11/12/2019 06:45

Yy to Pandemic

Camel Up is fun to play in a larger group.

Trewser · 11/12/2019 06:54

Bop It

marshmallowss · 11/12/2019 06:58

I bought Pictionary Air after watching the Phillip Schofield show (can't remember the name) all about good games and gifts at Xmas.
Same as Pictionary but it's a pen you use for the iPad. You draw in the air and the picture comes up on the screen on the camera. I hope that makes sense

JudgeRindersMinder · 11/12/2019 07:02

Pie face and Cards Against Humanity (very much older teens and twenty somethings!)

Trewser · 11/12/2019 07:04

Does pictionary air only work on ipads?

Theredjellybean · 11/12/2019 07:05

Mexican train... Its strategic domino's
Adored by my teens and young adults.
