raabossi · 09/12/2019 08:28

So i originally followed Mrs Hinch when i saw her on This Morning and i thought i would be a great way of getting cleaning tips.....which originally it was. But now i think it has turned into this one big advertising campaign and what items she has been gifted.
So i have decided to unfollow her and i feel so much better for it.
What are your thoughts?

I can't stand her. Her cleaning ideas aren't new either, I've been using Zoflora for years!

McCanne · 09/12/2019 10:38

YANBU. I’ve been thinking of unfollowing too. It was a fun account to follow and I do like her, I think she’s very genuine, but the account is just a big ad now.

ballsdeep · 09/12/2019 10:39

Stacey soloman is going the same way! They are best friends by the looks and she is constantly advertising stuff and copying Mrs Hinch on her ig stories

Londongirl86 · 09/12/2019 10:41

I've massively improved my chemical usage in regards to cleaning. I use the smol wash capsules now. They have less chemicals than leading brands. The astonish oven cleaner you can use that without gloves and it's brilliant. It's orange oil. Really recommend it. Also methodm the rhubarb all purpose spray is amazing. As is the mint bathroom cleaner. I think it's mint anyway lol. They don't make you cough and don't contain the harsh chemicals. All clean just as well.

Mrs hinch is encouraging many people to use excessive amounts of harsh chemicals. It really is a bad idea to copy her. Think of your lungs people.

Lifeinaplasticbox · 09/12/2019 10:44

I stop following them once the #ads start. I just like nice photos.
Same here.
As soon as it get #gifted#ad #freeloading. Im done

Equanimitas · 09/12/2019 10:51

YANBU. I'm convinced people like her and Marie Kondo are the cause of ridiculous amounts of anxiety around pointless issues with housekeeping and hygiene. I remember a friend of mine getting terribly worried because she wasn't cleaning her kitchen floor three times a day (despite the fact that no-one was in the house during the day) and I had to point out fairly forcefully that constantly cleaning the same clean patch of floor was the epitome of ridiculousness.

Sparklingbrook · 09/12/2019 10:53

YANBU stands at 93% in the vote.

hotcrossbun4321 · 09/12/2019 10:53

YANBU - I find it really off-putting how much advertising there is. As a pp mentioned, I also find it really galling to see influencers being given stuff for free - especially with more 'luxury' brands that I would save up and look forward to buying myself as treats. There's a lovely little hotel that I've been to on mini-breaks, it always seems to be booked up and it's not cheap and I was a bit Hmm to see a load of instagrammers posting from the hot tub!

dontyouwishyour · 09/12/2019 10:54

I used to love following various Instagrammers and found lots of inspirations from them particularly the clothes/life style bloggers. Sad now that so many advertise product because their love of the product is not real it does not come across as inspiring in fact it's a total turn off. The best bloggers out there are The Frugality (keeps it real) and Doesmybumlook40 and Mid Life Chic. They are transparent and I like that.

Tutlefru · 09/12/2019 10:56

Not uncommon with the big accounts now.

Some of have had entire rooms redone for free.

They’re all the same really, it’s why I like to follow the smaller accounts.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 09/12/2019 10:56

Re posters expressing anxiety "concern" - it actually helps mine and makes me motivated, and I've seen a lot of her followers say the same.
Same with Marie Kondo too - don't follow her as much but I know of her methods and she's great for sorting out clutter if you feel overwhelmed.

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 09/12/2019 11:03

But now i think it has turned into this one big advertising campaign and what items she has been gifted.

I’m shocked that anyone thought it was ever anything other than this! That was always the plan!

BuildBuildings · 09/12/2019 11:05

I try not to follow influencers or really any bloggers with loads of followers. (probs same thing?!) so don't follow her. She's really not my style her account is quite tacky. But obviously a popular look because there loads of people with tons of followers with homes/ look like her.

ChristmasCroissant · 09/12/2019 11:05

I have also used Zoflora for years, since I saw my MIL using it - I do like the special edition fragrances but have also noticed the price going up as it's got more popular!

Mrs Hinch has a book, which might be better for anyone who likes her methods but not the ads, I will sneak a peek at it in Tesco when I get a chance. I don't know a lot about Mrs H tbh and as I said upthread I think the #ad thing is a common factor for 'influencers'.

Bluntness100 · 09/12/2019 11:07

Bit of an odd thread. You can follow or unfollow anyone you please. There is no law saying you have to follow someone

I like her, so I follow. You don't, so don't. I'm sure there are people you follow that I'd rather not. I can't imagine staring a thread because I wanted to unfollow someone..

Londongirl86 · 09/12/2019 11:09

Does anyone else find father of daughter's fake facial expressions infuriating. He really does think he's the first parent on the planet. He tries to be all relatable and oH isn't this so hard. I'm thinking try living in a three bedroom semi detached house with a pokey bathroom and little ones bedroom is like a cupboard. Try having to get your kids clothes in Primark and having a week at the coast for your family holiday. He's a spilt wealthy show off in my eyes. He knows he's rich too. Wants everyone to admire his decor. Bore off lol

PookieHook · 09/12/2019 11:10

Her activity journal is absolutely hilarious for all the wrong reasons and is totally a huge ad.
"What is your favourite lenor scent?"
"Write down your favourite Fairy liquid"
"Colour in Mrs Hinch's Kitchen"
"Do this dot to dot"
Grin
Honestly, talk about infantalising women!

Sparklingbrook · 09/12/2019 11:13

By starting this thread posters could have said why it would be unreasonable to unfollow her. They could have said ‘well don’t because don’t forget Mrs H does XYZ which is really good’.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 09/12/2019 11:13

Her activity journal is legit on my Christmas list (not even kidding) and I give NO fucks if people think I'm a child for asking for it.
I love colouring to relax for example.
Some people are so uptight, just realise not everyone's the same Hmm Grin

Sparklingbrook · 09/12/2019 11:14

There loads of lovely colouring in books to buy, and probably dot to dot ones.

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 09/12/2019 11:18

What is your favourite lenor scent?"
"Write down your favourite Fairy liquid"
"Colour in Mrs Hinch's Kitchen"
"Do this dot to dot

That can’t be real?! Is it? Shock and other adults actually do it?

Reminds me of the time I gave DCs friends mum a lift home one day and she asked me what my favourite colour was. She’s 43. Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 09/12/2019 11:21

My favourite lenor scent is Comfort Sunshiny Days so I can’t join in. Sad

Skyejuly · 09/12/2019 11:23

If you watch...her ads are always really hidden its SO sneaky. She is always begging for new things and hinting. It drives me insane. Grabby!

Londongirl86 · 09/12/2019 11:24

@IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory haha what is your favourite colour,?

I actually don't have one and I hate this question lol. I like different colours on different things depending on what it is. I like yellow flowers but I like blue or green towels and I like grey carpets and I love denim on my daughter. Love red on my son lol. I'm weird I think 😂😂😂

Thefaceofboe · 09/12/2019 11:25

Those saying her house is awful... I’d love to see your houses Hmm it’s personally not my cup of tea but each to their own
