unfollowed Mrs Hinch

raabossi · 09/12/2019 08:28

So i originally followed Mrs Hinch when i saw her on This Morning and i thought i would be a great way of getting cleaning tips.....which originally it was. But now i think it has turned into this one big advertising campaign and what items she has been gifted.
So i have decided to unfollow her and i feel so much better for it.
What are your thoughts?

OP posts:
CooperLooper · 09/12/2019 10:02

I feel exactly the same. I used to follow her as I actually really enjoyed a lot of the tips n tricks she uses. Like the squeegee for dog hair on the stairs, having little boxes to sort stuff in, Zoflora etc, and I definitely bleach my toilets more than I used to now.

Stopped following her around the time she had that mega extension done on her house. Absolutely fair play to people who can afford it, but the huge extension and expensive (bought and gifted) items she'd start rambling on about for ages. Especially all the free baby stuff she got. She became a walking Humble Brag and it got boring and tedious very quickly.

NemophilistRebel · 09/12/2019 10:03

Unfollowed her when I realised she was sponsored by P&G and I don’t agree with the excessive use of products like these in a home

fromdownwest · 09/12/2019 10:03

I am surprised Extinction Rebellion did not blockade her trips to pound land - where she would buy a tonne of plastic and 58 litres of toxic chemicals to pour down the sink and toilet. Then get her 'fans' to do the same.

In the current climate, I do think she should be held accountable for all of the 'advice' she gives on cleaning. A small company has a sustainability policy, and I imagine her accounts are similar to a SME.

Whattodoabout · 09/12/2019 10:04

I don’t follow her, her house is basically just grey and I’m not sure what the appeal of that is Confused. I have unfollowed others for the same reason though, I get fed up with the endless ads and seeing already wealthy people get given free shit.

coconuttelegraph · 09/12/2019 10:09

OP is just making conversation

If only MN had thought to have a topic for those kind of posts, oh, hang on....

I don't know what you want people to say, surely we can't dumb down much lower than posters on one forum asking if they can follow/unfollow posters on another one

Gingersstuff · 09/12/2019 10:10

I had a quick look at her page out of curiosity. Jesus, just NO. Shitloads of appallingly nasty chemicals and a house that looks as if the entire contents of Next at Home have been thrown into it and mixed up with a metric tonne of grey paint and all the Live,Laugh,Love shite.
The woman is a one-person consumerist ecodisaster in an age where we should absolutely not be using this kind of crap if we can help it. Just NO.

Londongirl86 · 09/12/2019 10:12

People should realise that spraying zoflora allover your bed and mixing cleaning products is dangerous.

People should not compare themselves.

There is more to life than cleaning.

Wealthy people should give the product away and buy a copy for themselves as wouldn't it be nice for people who can't afford to eat to have some free leggings for their children.

People need to stop thinking Instagram is real. These people are fake and went you to fall for it.

I've also noticed Stacey Solomon trying to hard to show she's so normal and real. Every picture now she makes sure her flaws are on show. At first it was refreshing. Now it's like she needs people to tell her she's so amazing every five minutes for having wobbles and spots. We all have them and nobody high fives up for showing it!

Sparklingbrook · 09/12/2019 10:15

@Fucck I love it. The cartoons are simple but very expressive.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 09/12/2019 10:16

YABU. I love Mrs Hinch (started following her after hearing about her on a thread on here and still do Smile )
No need to make a song and dance and flounce about it.
Just unfollow if she's not your thing.
Although another thread about her might make more followers for her so doubt she'll cry too much at you leaving lol

Straycatstrut · 09/12/2019 10:16

I haven't been on Instagram in 2 years, for reasons already mentioned, full of bloggers advertising for their free stuff OR picture bragging.

I've just had a look. Every single one of this MrsHinchs posts seem to be "look at at my beautiful house/stuff" why do people like that?

fligglepige · 09/12/2019 10:17

I have a couple of friends who are doing their homes up at the minute and they've chosen a lot of grey. The Mrs Hinch effect Confused

NemophilistRebel · 09/12/2019 10:20

@Londongirl86 she sprays zoflora on her bed?!?!

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 09/12/2019 10:21

I had a brief look at her Instagram, decided her house looks bloody awful and didn’t bother. Everything is grey!

Blatherskite · 09/12/2019 10:22

Walking into her house must be like being hit by a wall of chemicals. It can't be healthy for any of them, especially that baby.

Fucck · 09/12/2019 10:24

I've just been inspired to unfollow a shit ton of pages. All "bloggers" GONE. One has been irritating me for a while but now a lot of other pages have been dumped too.
I'm close to coming off Instagram altogether but I'm already off all other SM so I feel like it's my Daily News in a way, like if I come off - I'll be bereft of any general knowledge of the outside world (don't watch the news on tv)
I need to find some more positive content!

TildaKauskumholm · 09/12/2019 10:24

I think it's sad that dim people have to follow a talented salesperson who is given lots of free stuff, in order to know that they should clean their homes. WTF did they do before? Hmm

fromdownwest · 09/12/2019 10:25

@blatherskite - Or the environment! Multiply her usage across all of her followers and that amount of toxins being flushed into our water is scary!

Londongirl86 · 09/12/2019 10:26

@NemophilistRebel

Yup. There is such thing as being too clean. I grew up on a farm and I'm quite healthy with no allergies. We all need abit of muck in our homes. I clean up and we are not dirty at all but I know I don't need to disinfect our beds unless someone's vomited on it!

andpancakesforbreakfast · 09/12/2019 10:29

YABU to start a bashing thread with a fake idiotic question.

Straycatstrut · 09/12/2019 10:30

spraying zoflora allover your bed

Gag.... people do this?! I sprayed a peach one diluted right down it into my kitchen sink and it was too much! my mum came over like "What is that smell?!" with a screwed up face.

That "pink stuff" is actually brilliant though - gets rid of anything sticky or greasy straight away Grin...

Snuffkindle · 09/12/2019 10:33

I stop following them once the #ads start. I just like nice photos.

QueenOfCatan · 09/12/2019 10:34

Yanbu. I don't follow her but I unfollowed one this week who recently changed their Instagram name to "conscious" to apparently reflect being more conscious of everything, including the world, but then started advertising pampers nappies Hmm when called out on it the instagrammer and his wife replied that they appreciate the view but they can't use reusables when travelling, fair enough but if they are happy to hawk an expensive nappy they could have at least chosen a brand that biodegrade if they are so conscious.

Whoever mentioned strange planet I second that, it is genius, I laugh at most of those. False knees is fantastic too, weird bird comics!

lazylinguist · 09/12/2019 10:34

I don't follow any 'influencers'. The fact that being an influencer is considered an actual job is frankly Hmm. I watched a bit of Mrs Hinch out of curiosity after reading about her on here. Dear lord she is irritating. And she must be damaging her health and the environment with all those cleaning products (as must the sheep who copy her).

Novemberrain77 · 09/12/2019 10:34

Has her baby ever seen colour loving in that house ?!?

Novemberrain77 · 09/12/2019 10:36
