I really don't see why anyone should feel sorry for him and coming out in this day and age is not brave. He is a white Male not Asian or black where culturally it can still be difficult to come out. He is not a staunch Christian so no turmoil over faith and coming out. He is an entertainer which by nature is a very welcoming career in terms of being gay.

I believe his hand was forced by the press and fully expect stories to come out. I think it is very poor of the press to intrude in his life this way and despite being in the public eye he deserves privacy just like everyone else.

I ultimate feel for his wife, whether she knew or not 27 years is a long time to be with someone who could not be their true self with you.

Have read most of this thread... there was a post a week or so ago where the poster announced that a major male celebrity would hit the news about his private life but the poster, who was an industry insider, couldn’t possibly say who it was. Poster said that the news would come out in the next few days.

Why would Rylan and Ruth complain about the runner being ‘promoted’ though?

I don’t think it’s related. He seems like an intolerable shit, regardless of his sexuality, and I imagine the complaints relate to how difficult he is to work with. I guess Ruth had to do the whole hugging thing to quash any further stories of a rift and potential rumours of his sexuality being the reason she dislikes him.

It seems like a popular tactic used by people who are receiving bad press. Throw out a protected characteristic and all of a sudden the truth behind the press falls away and it becomes a homophobic attack instead.

Maybe the runner wasn't promoted. Maybe he was removed from TM and the LW job was a sweetener?

Justmuddlingalong exactly - how many times does a more junior person get screwed over in terms of having to move department or leave the company when an office romance goes wrong? While the senior person sails on regardless.

I can see how Ruth etc would think that was unfair and take issue with it.

This is the most awful thread. I think people need to remember these are real peoples lives we are talking about here and cut out the amateur detecting. Presuming to know how anyone in the situation feels and naming people who May or may not have anything to do with it is an awful thing to do.

TM is the ITV flagship show so the move to Loose Women is at best a sideways move, at worst a demotion and nudge towards the exit. I can see why the injustice would prompt complaints from other members of the TM team.

If all of the alleged rumours are true, and a very young adult was possibly groomed, perhaps that is what the complaint referred to?

Or they fell out - whether because of a break up or not - and the names individual was shipped out, PS responded to others behaviour with threats to ship them out too? Could be any number of things, couldn't it.

I heard a rumour yesterday that over 10 years ago PS was seen in toilets in Newcastle gay area with another male and a sexual act took place. It makes it all seem a bit seedy if true. Yes a rumour but sure many more will come out now.
