To ask how I can show my face on Monday

cadburyegg · 07/12/2019 09:40

I went to a works Christmas do last night, drank too much and made a tit of myself.
I’m dreading going to work on Monday! AIBU to hand my notice in?! I can’t see another solution!! Help!

Don't worry, I have heard a lot worse.

Don't try and hide it with "food poisoning" everyone will see straight through it and it will only prolong the ribbing.

I would go with the "how did everyone feel on Saturday morning, I was a bit rough, can't you tell I haven't had a drink since before "Dave" was born"
A lot better to face it first thing, everyone can laugh and the nerves about when it's going to be mentioned have gone as it been dealt with.

DrivingMsCrazy · 07/12/2019 20:54

@MyGhastIsFlabbered Shock now THAT is how to party!!! Wowsers Grin👏

cstaff · 07/12/2019 21:00

@freda123
That is fucking hilarious. I'll bet Tony was loving you right back 🤣🤣Xmas Grin

freda123 · 07/12/2019 21:09

@cstaff I still cringe all these years later. Think poor Tony's bad back serves as a reminder!

user1473878824 · 07/12/2019 21:15

Oh OP don’t worry at all! Read all these stories! They are hilarious but much worse than farting and doing a loo sick! If anyone mentions it, which they won’t, just go “oh god don’t!” and then change the subject.

Littlelamp456 · 07/12/2019 21:29

You’ll be fine! Someone always gets a bit too drunk.

My first ever work Christmas do, I copped off with someone from a different department. In the company’s hotel room which was where the event was held. Heard someone trying to get in the room, so hid in the bathroom while he pretended he was just getting his stuff. Turned out to be my big boss who came to get her stuff, Instead of leaving, she stayed to chat to him for about half an hour while I hid in there. Can you guess what happened next? Yep she came in the bathroom and saw me stood there in the most unpresentable state.

I still can’t forget the look on her face and it was 10 years ago!

cstaff · 07/12/2019 21:30

If you do get slagged off on Monday just reply "you think I was bad, wait till I tell you about my mate." and just start quoting some of the funniest stories off this thread. That should keep them entertained and take the attention away from you for a while.

DrivingMsCrazy · 07/12/2019 21:34

@LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood get a grip. She puked in the toilet and farted once. That barely registers on the scale of Xmas do behaviour. Of course she doesn't need to think about leaving!! Ffs how ridiculous.

Ugzbugz · 07/12/2019 21:59

This thread is brilliant, I had this situation last Monday but just gloated about my behavior after which was not with colleagues and laughed and said sober ugzbugz doesn't want to hear anything quite sternly. I'm.40 been there 20 years, massive company but low level and done some ridiculous things over the years but get awful blanks! Loads of people do Coke at these parties to and fuck around, I always outlive my behaviour year to year and the fart I would blame on someone else 😁

Ugzbugz · 07/12/2019 22:00

People fuck around!!

Ugzbugz · 07/12/2019 22:01

If I shit in a lift and masturbated I might leave though, or wanked someone off on the dancefloor, although I would find all this hilarious if it wasnt me

GoodDogBellaBoo · 07/12/2019 22:04

Blame it on IBS.

Justkeeprollingalong · 07/12/2019 22:07

I also have the fear. Christmas do last night, can't remember anything but have this vague feeling of unease 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

WheelsCameOff · 07/12/2019 22:22

I've had to name change for this but some of the stories have been so funny!

Anyway, to add my two pennies worth to the proceedings. I once tried to snog and grope my boss (think crotch area) and my husband was also at the party!

He managed to wrestle me away and when we got home I threw up, spraying the walls, all over the carpet and then, unceremoniously shit myself.

Thankfully I still had a job (and a husband) by the Monday.

Needless to say, I don't drink much any more!

StCharlotte · 07/12/2019 22:23

If you work maybe in finance or legal, possibly but on the whole, no.

Oh thank God, I've got an excuse! (worked in legal and finance nearly all my working life)

PersonaNonGarter · 07/12/2019 23:57

OP, it was my works party last night.

If it was the same one that you were at, your antics don’t even put you in the top 30 most drunken attendees. It was hilarious. ImYour colleagues will basically either not care/remember or they will love you for throwing yourself into the party. I love a wild Christmas party drunk - if I didn’t I wouldn’t go!

JingsMahBucket · 08/12/2019 00:10

@StCharlotte Grin

Walkon · 08/12/2019 00:14

Just bring in a whoopee cushion on Monday and squeeze it when you make your make your entrance "just in case anyone missed it" have a little laugh and get on with your day!
If the only gossip is "Cadburyegg did a fart" then forget about it and don't let it ruin your Sunday.
My god ..be thankful your not half of the people mentioned on this thread Crown Shock

doublebarrellednurse · 08/12/2019 01:16

Well this year I'm sober and still insisted that a photo of our boss made him look like Peter Sutcliffe. Thankfully he found my lack of filter hilarious.

He told me I had to wear my glittery mini dress to work every day with heels as it would set the right ambiance.

I work in a mental health unit.

user1473878824 · 08/12/2019 01:33

Genuinely love the poster who suggested OP handed in her notice because of a fart. What world does she live in?!

thesunhasgothishatontoday · 08/12/2019 02:17

You'll be fine!
Place I used to work tbe sales director dropped his trousers to show us his tattoo on his arse. His wife got her tits out. He's still there

Shooturlocalmethdealer · 08/12/2019 03:23

Puking and farting!!!
I cant stop laughing.
So sorry OP but this is hilarious.
You will be fine.
Both are bodily functions.

JohnnyCash22 · 08/12/2019 03:34

These are all hilarious anecdotes.
my last disaster was going out with friends and my DH to meet other friends for a birthday celebration (not Xmas party!)

We made the mistake of front-loading on wine before we went out and it hit me while we were in the taxi. We got to the pub and I downed 2 drinks. I then proceeded to spray-vomit the pub like something out of the Exorcist. They had to close half the pub to clean it. Everyone else as it now stank. I was, unsurprisingly, kicked out.

At 8.30pm we'd got in the taxi to go out- by 9.30 I was being carried back into the house.

I've not been drunk in public since.

JohnnyCash22 · 08/12/2019 03:35

*everyone else left as it now stank

littleorangecat22 · 08/12/2019 04:16

The last time I thought I made an arse of myself at a work's do, I later found out people liked me more because of it... (all I did was drink a lot and talk more than usual, then fell down a flight of stairs!)
