I went to a works Christmas do last night, drank too much and made a tit of myself.
I’m dreading going to work on Monday! AIBU to hand my notice in?! I can’t see another solution!! Help!

OP posts:
ReturnofSaturn · 07/12/2019 10:20

Millions of people have done it! Myself included!
Just brazen it out and if anyone brings it up I would just laugh along.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 07/12/2019 10:20

Am sure most others were pretty drunk too and probably don’t remember-what do you think was so bad?

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 07/12/2019 10:20

OP I once went to my boss's (40th birthday party, copped off with her son, got caught starkers by my other boss (her husband). It can't be as bad as that. Blush

theoriginalmadambee · 07/12/2019 10:20

Dh used to have overall responsability for a project in UK (we are Scandi) he went to their Christmas do and a random wife of one of the employees was very drunk and entertained my dh with how bad the overall manager was and how her dh was much better. She didn't have a clue who my dh was Grin.

We laughed our heads off and felt a little sorry for her.

HouseworkAvoider10 · 07/12/2019 10:21

Depends what you did…..

silverliningsa · 07/12/2019 10:21

Depends what you’ve done. But I’m sure millions of people wake up after the work Christmas party feeling the same! I know I always do!

Horehound · 07/12/2019 10:21

The thing is you think everyone will be thinking about it as much as you, and they won't be!

Itslookinglikeabeautifulday · 07/12/2019 10:22

Well it would have to be something very drastic, verging on illegal, for that course of action in my opinion.
The great majority of people have made an idiot of themselves at some point.
Act professional and face it head on - take whoever you may have upset aside and apologise.
And watch your alcohol intake in future. Treat it as a learning curve. Xmas Smile

Newbie1999 · 07/12/2019 10:22

We need to know what you did. Every. Detail.

custardbear · 07/12/2019 10:22

Style it out 😈

RanchoRelaxo · 07/12/2019 10:23

We've all done it!
Just laugh along with everyone else on Monday, there's definitely worse things you can do than get a bit shit faced at a Christmas party!

Seriouslyconfused3 · 07/12/2019 10:24

We’ve all done it op just style it out on Monday

AJPTaylor · 07/12/2019 10:25

Well one girl I worked with vomited on the CEOs lap.

Horehound · 07/12/2019 10:25

@madambee We laughed our heads off and felt a little sorry for her.
Of course you did because you're not exactly going to agree with her although I think in those kind of situations sometimes what's being said is truthful...
Why would you feel sorry for her?

Horehound · 07/12/2019 10:26

Oh god @AJPTaylor that's horrible! How did the CEO react?!

PositiveVibez · 07/12/2019 10:27

Oh god. I bet it's not as bad as you imagine. Remember that other people were pissed too.

I avoid work do's for this very reason. Once I've had a few, I have a tendency to blab and a few people in work have really pissed me off this year. So I thought better of it. Free bar + annoying colleagues does not a good combination make!!

Honestly though, what you are imagining will be far less worse than the reality.

Go in on Monday and own it with a 'i am never drinking that much again, wasn't I a knob'

It will soon be forgotten about

Talkingmouse · 07/12/2019 10:28

Make sure you are in early Monday. Smile. Take any reasonable banter on the chin. Laugh along then change subject. Old news by 11am.

IdblowJonSnow · 07/12/2019 10:29

Madambee that's hilarious!

Thefaceofboe · 07/12/2019 10:30

This was me last year. Luckily apart from a few jokey comments it was forgotten pretty quickly!

Trafalger · 07/12/2019 10:30

I got really hammered at mine and ended up having some alone time with a guy who worked in a different department (I was recently separated from my ex husband). I used to see him most days in passing and dreaded going in on the monday. ..... well 6 years later, a 2 year old and a wedding it all ended up good! Although I did blush bright red on the Monday when I saw him.

Mackerz · 07/12/2019 10:31

@madambee

Feeling superior to others makes some people feel good about themselves.

Smug, much?

CallmeAngelina · 07/12/2019 10:34

We have an award each year at our place for who made the biggest tit of themselves at the Christmas do.
It goes to a different person each year, so you're not alone.

christmassymcchristmas · 07/12/2019 10:34

What did you do?

MoonQuake · 07/12/2019 10:35

We need to know what you did?

If you fell over, puked, dirty danced with your boss or snogged Dave the Dishy IT guy....you can definitely brazen it out on Monday with a knowing chuckle and a breezy ‘I think I had a bit too much fun on Friday!’

If you called your boss a dickhead or told Brenda in Accounts what you really think of her...you might need to resign [grim].

amusedbush · 07/12/2019 10:35

I made an absolute disgrace of myself at a work function in 2011 and I’ll tell you what, I never did it again Blush

Nobody cared about it either. I got a bit of ribbing from my colleagues but it blew over quickly.
