I'm getting a little peed off at the whole you better live by these rules or judgement shall reign upon thee nonsense!

I can't use plastic, I can't have my Christmas tree and its decorations, I can t use wrapping paper, I must be vegan, not least because of the meat ingestion but because all the cows fart and hurt the ozone! Do you know how much vegetation is lost to avocados or the mafia and children being scarred for life by the acid in cashews?!

I can't swear around my kids, I mustn't enjoy meat of any kind, I can't buy new clothes, they must be second hand, must shop local, don't buy out of season, cant enjoy a good laugh at the expense of others! Hello, it's funny when someone falls on their arse or walks into a door! the list goes on!! REALLY??

AIBU to be getting a little peeved with all this?

I am a responsible citizen, I do watch my plastics waste, I do care about the wold. But I also do like meat every now and then, I do enjoy my Christmas decorations and the nostalgia of it all, I do enjoy new clothes sometimes and I do swear around my kids whilst having a G&T or a bottle of wine! (they're 15 &16) but it's not the point!

There's just too much all around.. Everyone and their dog has put 'THEIR' expectations on me!! that they expect me to live by, and if I don't I'm looked down upon, shunned and gossiped about.

My life is hard enough with my own expectations of myself let alone trying to live up the perfection and assumptions of others!

Those of you... the judgy and I mean really judgy self-imposed evangelists of our newfound world to be ARE NOT PERFECT you do know that don't you?

You have kids that run amuck, scream and have tantrums, and you call them diddums and little sweetie.. they're brats and need pulling into line or they'll be big brats living all entitled becoming worse versions of your judgemental selves.

You're so judgemental that you live on a knife-edge as you judge yourself worse than you do anyone else. Your husbands as yes this is mostly aimed at women! are tired and worn out by all these rules!!

They too are imposed or frowned upon for having an opinion no bra to burn or wanting a beer and laugh with their mates. Showing any masculinity at all! As if it wasn't what mother nature made them, god forbid! heavens above! these cave-like beasts, what are they doing being themselves?!

You act slightly human and beat yourself up about it. You're your own worst enemy! You go to yoga twice a week and think your the newfound Dali fricken lama!

Get a hold of your selves. If you want to be vegan and wear second-hand clothes and call your kids Far-qua go ahead no one is stopping you. But please please will you let us not so stuck up, constipated hypochondriacs, come to our own conclusions on how and when we will make the changes necessary for our lives and how we see ourselves within the planet and its future..

We may like the things you don't but doesn't mean we're not kind and loving people with similar values just means we're getting used to the fact that change is upon us and it takes us a little longer to get there.. !

And for your men please!! for gods sake stop crushing their masculinity let them be men, it's who they are and let them make their own way to their own place in this universe without being scowled at and nipped to pieces but your judgements and expectations! Scowling faces and pointy fingers!

You see yourselves as the saviours of our planet, I praise your efforts! I really do but in turn your losing sight of the love for humankind and your brothers and sisters that are right next to you!

Those that need nurturing are teaching - nurture and teach LOVE us and help us along the way by having a kind heart and patience with our ways that are not yet aligned with yours..

The world is changing but we're all in it together not just you.. give us time to reflect and be nostalgic to a life we once knew. We will get there but man give us some space to do it our way not your way.

OK rant over!

TheQueenSnortsAvocados · 06/12/2019 12:51

I'm definitely looking down on you. But not for the reasons you think...

NotACleverName · 06/12/2019 12:53

U ok hun?

FizzyIce · 06/12/2019 12:53

I was agreeing with you until you started talking bollocks about “let men be men “
What the fuck does that even mean ?

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 06/12/2019 12:54

Fucking hell! Who pissed on your mince pie?!?! Xmas Confused

ifyoulikepinacolada · 06/12/2019 12:54

It’s Dalai Lama. Although a Dali has a similar trippy vibe which goes well with your post.

Drabarni · 06/12/2019 12:55

who is telling you that you have to follow their rules.
I do know where you are coming from, but if this is society in general why let it bother you.
Don't give a shiny shit and live life how you want to.
The more we are expected to conform the more i tend to go in the opposite direction.
I'm in my 50's and couldn't give a shiny shit how others live, what they say or do.
I'm my own person not a sheeple conforming.
I hope my post gives you a bit of hope and I voted YANBU. There are a few of us.

damnthatanxiety · 06/12/2019 12:55

Calm down Petal. Society has always had rules and boundaries. You don't have to live by them. You do you. But don't then demand that others live to your standards and tell them not to judge. Can't have it both ways. You do you and I'll do me and if 'me' is someone who despises some of your practices then so be it!

puds11 · 06/12/2019 12:56

Oh god! my poor husband! Will no one save him from my spirit crushing feminism Shock

Namestranger · 06/12/2019 12:57

But please please will you let us not so stuck up, constipated hypochondriacs, come to our own conclusions

Tbf we Vegans are many things but constipated isn't usually one of them Xmas Grin

BeatriceTheBeast · 06/12/2019 12:57

@puds11

I just sniggered aloud at that. And I'm in public so look unhinged.

Vulpine · 06/12/2019 12:59

Is this scowly and pointy finger enough for you

AIBU to say stop with so many Fricken rules!
PsychosonicCindy · 06/12/2019 13:01

Loved that haha!
Agreed with some, not all.
I defend your right to hold those opinions though.
I agree with there are loads of rules I had no idea I was being judged over until I started reading MN e.g taking too long at the tills in Tesco, having 4 kids, kids wearing black/band t-shirts, not being able to drive all the times people have been disapproving of me and I didn't even realise!
Trouble with too many rules is that it often creates a backlash.

Namestranger · 06/12/2019 13:03

Ooh it's BoJo testing out his acceptance speech.

ivfbabymomma1 · 06/12/2019 13:04

Pom bear anyone?

UterusesBeforeDuderuses · 06/12/2019 13:05

"DONT JUDGE ME, NOW SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO MY JUDGEMENTS OF YOU"

slipperywhensparticus · 06/12/2019 13:05

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

PerkingFaintly · 06/12/2019 13:08

ifyoulikepinacolada in this case I think it's the Dali Llama.Grin

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 06/12/2019 13:08

Wow. Shunned for not being vegan and not having a Christmas tree? Where do you live? I think you might need to move

IdblowJonSnow · 06/12/2019 13:09

Who is having their masculinity crushed?
What should I be letting 'my man' do?!
Grin

midsomermurderess · 06/12/2019 13:10

Are you pissed? See, I think that's not a bad rule, don't get blootered by midday.

MintyMabel · 06/12/2019 13:11

You don't like all the rules, but want to insist everyone lives by yours?

Alrighteo · 06/12/2019 13:15

I kinda get the OP.
MN used to be a place of frequent flyers. Now they are shunned for destroying the planet.
MN still is a place where everyone needs to learn how to drive. BUT, do not dare drive as you are destroying the planet.

Weird MN world. Not typical of the real world.

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 06/12/2019 13:15

As soon as I finished the first paragraph I somehow knew that the OP was going to end with 'rant over'.

Funny, that.

nowlook · 06/12/2019 13:16

@MatildeHidalgo

Just marvellous.

Alrighteo · 06/12/2019 13:17

Meanwhile back at the ranch, they're chauffeuring their snowflakes the 0.5 miles to school in their 4x4s.
MN is the fifth dimension at times.
