AIBU to be shit scared of BJ winning the next election?

Not sure how everyone else is doing, but I am just increasingly terrified about the idea that BJ and the likes of Jacob Rees-Morgan, Ian Duncan Smith (god they are just so disgusting Angry) are going to win this election. Got family in Australia and this morning it was raining ash and people literally can't breathe. The Tories are going to do nothing, zero, nada about climate change. And when I look at my kids I just don't know how we are going to survive another five years. and don't get my started about the state of the kid's school - the teachers are doing their best, but the reality is it's a shit show bc of how many cuts they have had. Friends are going canvassing for Labour and me and DH are doing our bit too - but it all just feels surreal - BJ talks shit, tells lies, and has reinvented himself as "new" when the fucker has been IN GOVT for years. Any got any ideas on how we can turn this around?

I don’t disagree with that

Had it’s bumps a certain interview

And I’m under no doubt Labour would have done the same given a recording and unfortunately some Labour’s activists can be shamefully nasty

CharlottesPleb · 11/12/2019 00:03

I can't believe anyone believes in any political party at this point.

I doubt I'll ever forgive Labour for the things they have done to their traditional voter base and their kids, Corbyn doesn't look like he is going to fix them. I could not vote for them now and sleep at night, even if Corbyn and Momentum were replaced by more sensible people.

I have nobody to vote for that I can really believe in. Boris comes the closest by far, but that's not really saying much.

ColourMagic · 11/12/2019 01:46

CharlottesPleb .... "I doubt I'll ever forgive Labour for the things they have done to their traditional voter base and their kids"

So ... you're not bothered about the Tory destruction of industries then? You must have a short memory.

But sure, Boris will take care of working class families and their kids.

JolieOBrien · 11/12/2019 05:18

I just tweeted to Jon Ashworth - Labour thanking him for telling the truth about Jeremy Corbyn.

MyOtherProfile · 11/12/2019 05:32

So funny to read responses saying you've swallowed propaganda OP. Those people of course have seen the honest truth and know Johnson really is a cuddly teddy bear.

Nope, I'm right with you. 5 years of Johnson and goodness knows what state we would be in. 5 years of Corbyn wouldn't be perfect but we would at least see some support for the most vulnerable in society.

JolieOBrien · 11/12/2019 05:37

@MyOtherProfile

I might have voted Labour if he hadn't been leader. I don't like the way he won't commit to Brexit and he will get rid of nuclear deterrent if he could because he doesn't believe in them ... the man is a danger to our safety here in the UK imho

ColourMagic · 11/12/2019 07:14

"But sure, Boris will take care of working class families and their kids."

Sarcasm.

Boris takes care of his no morals Bullingdon friends and their kind.

MyOtherProfile · 11/12/2019 10:27

Of course he won't get rid of nuclear. He would be PM not President or Emperor. He would still have to get things through parliament and that would never pass.

The biggest dangers to our safety lie in the Tory manifesto and the character of Johnson.

thehorseandhisboy · 11/12/2019 14:39

Johnson doesn't need anyone gossiping behind his back, does he?

His behaviour on camera, or avoiding camera, says it all.

'An overwhelming number of healthcare workers plan to vote for the Labour Party in tomorrows general election, according to a survey by NursingNotes.

An online survey of nurses (2,231), doctors (865) and healthcare assistants (409) undertaken just hours before the polls open has revealed that a massive 82% intend to vote for the Labour Party in tomorrows General Election.'

A Johnson government will be a catastrophe for the whole country. Yes, even wealthy people, who won't enjoy their wealth so much surrounded by resentful, downtrodden people cut off from access to health and social care.

Even Business, the 'wealth creators' which will suffer from the continuing mess and uncertainty of Brexit.

JolieOBrien · 12/12/2019 04:19

@MyOtherProfile

That may be but he doesn't believe in them. I don't want him to ever be in control of this country. Also if raises the taxes for the super rich they will leave the country and then where will he get his money from?

Here is one of the millionaires John Caudwell talking to John McDonnell about this.

JolieOBrien · 12/12/2019 04:22

He is actually a billionaire not a millionaire .. my mistake.

JolieOBrien · 12/12/2019 04:30

I know Boris is not perfect but having lived through a few Labour governments I simply do not want them in power ever again. My friends think the same as me and I just hope Boris gets a majority and it doesn't become a hung parliament again.

ArseDarkly · 12/12/2019 07:09

Boris isn't perfect that's true, in fact he's bit terrible, in fact he's absolutely horrendous. He's the worst Tory leader in living memory.

Not all labour governments are the same but you can always rely on the Tories to screw the country and blame everyone else. Add a psychopathic liar to that mix and you've got a catastrophe for our country

Trewser · 12/12/2019 07:33

All the Momentum fans were saying exactly the same things about Theresa May a few years ago.

I don’t want a lier as our PM - there aren’t going to be the number of new nurses, hospitals or police he has promised - there will be more cuts to public services and greater austerity. He can’t get Brexit done by the end of 2020. - even the experts are saying this - a no deal Brexit is on the cards

Skyejuly · 12/12/2019 08:45

I just feel sick with it all
Almost wish I was clueless tbh.

thehorseandhisboy · 12/12/2019 08:46

Vote Johnson for a Hard Brexit.

Then we'll know what 'destroying the economy' really means.

Alsohuman · 12/12/2019 09:22

Of course people, including many Tories, were saying that. She was. Then Johnson got the gig and surpassed her dreadfulness in every way. When you’ve got decent old school Tories like Patten, Clarke, Major and Heseltine saying he’s not fit for office, surely you at least think about it.

Daily Mail political journalist Peter Oborne yesterday :

"Why I as a Conservative will vote for Jeremy Corbyn."

'Boris Johnson wants to destroy the Britain I love. I cannot vote Conservative.

Why is there virtual media silence on Boris Johnson's anti-semitism and racism? BJ has even written an anti-semitic novel ffs!

“ When you’ve got decent old school Tories like Patten, Clarke, Major and Heseltine saying he’s not fit for office, surely you at least think about it.”
I think this is a very important point.

JolieOBrien
I know Boris is not perfect...

There are so many election threads on this site and your comment made me think that whilst there must be thousands of references on here to Boris Johnson, I haven't seen one clear exposition of his strengths and beliefs. I know what the Tory party manifesto pledges are and I'm familiar with the catch phrases Boris uses (who isn't?) but I haven't a clue what he actually believes or what people who like him consider his good qualities to be.
