Not sure how everyone else is doing, but I am just increasingly terrified about the idea that BJ and the likes of Jacob Rees-Morgan, Ian Duncan Smith (god they are just so disgusting Angry) are going to win this election. Got family in Australia and this morning it was raining ash and people literally can't breathe. The Tories are going to do nothing, zero, nada about climate change. And when I look at my kids I just don't know how we are going to survive another five years. and don't get my started about the state of the kid's school - the teachers are doing their best, but the reality is it's a shit show bc of how many cuts they have had. Friends are going canvassing for Labour and me and DH are doing our bit too - but it all just feels surreal - BJ talks shit, tells lies, and has reinvented himself as "new" when the fucker has been IN GOVT for years. Any got any ideas on how we can turn this around?

MP Margaret Hodge lodged a huge number of complaints about antisemitism (supposedly in Labour) to the Labour Party.
But what would her purpose be? Why would she do this if she wasn't concerned about antisemitism? Why would she make it up?

Mammajay · 08/12/2019 18:01

My ideal scenario...Boris loses his seat, Tories win with a hung parliament, Liberals and other remainers force a second referendum, we vote to remain and reform the EU. Labour get rid of Corbyn, John McDonald and other Marxists. Jess Philips becomes leader with Kier Starmer in support. Next election a moderate socialist labour party win. Momentum piss off and so do the two advisors Cummings and the labour advisor.

'Labour MP for Barking Margaret Hodge has been a long-running opponent of the Labour leader, submitting a vote of no confidence in his leadership in 2016.

.
'Within 24 hours of Hodge’s latest attack on Jeremy Corbyn in the Guardian, 205 Jewish women had signed a letter saying that Hodge’s allegations of antisemitism in the Labour Party did not reflect their experiences.

.
According to the letter

.
“Hodge extends her allegations that Corbyn is an ‘antisemite and racist’ under whom antisemitism ‘has been given permission to come into the mainstream and, like a cancer, is infecting and growing through the Party’.

.
“Hodge provides no evidence of such horrific wrongdoing by Corbyn, nor throughout the ‘mainstream’ party.
Her own submissions to the Labour Party certainly don’t do the job:

General Secretary, Jennie Formby reported that Hodge’s 200 complaints concerned 111 individuals, of whom only 20 were actually Party members.”

.
'The letter complained that Hodge’s allegations were published unchallenged and unchecked by Guardian journalists.'

The full letter is on the Link:

The article was dismissed

Yes what could Louise Ellman possibly know about anti semitism - or maybe it’s all a conspiracy along with the other female Jewish MP’s who have felt they have been bullied they must be in on it to

Or just maybe this is happening and they are fearful and that is just not acceptable even if not all complaints were made against Labour Party Members

Jess Philips although I like her isn’t experienced enough to be PM and tends to say what listeners want to hear (which I often agree with but I don’t expect MP’s to be crowd pleasers)

samG76 · 08/12/2019 18:25

Has anyone read the dossier leaked to the Sunday Times -

"Jews should be eradicated " ,are "bent nosed"" should be drowned in Red Sea to avoid using gas". No references to israel at all - pure anti-semitism.

derxa · 08/12/2019 18:32

So she just has it in for poor wee Jeremy Grin

MarshaBradyo · 08/12/2019 18:34

Language is bad from the Cons isn’t it, well Johnson, more than Corbyn. The papers are driving more on Labour on this.

EnthusiasmisDisturbed wrote "The article was dismissed"

No. The Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) upheld complaints against the Jewish Chronicle's "misleading" reporting of the so called "bulllying" of Louise Ellman at her local Labour party meetings.

The claims of 'antisemitism' reported by the Jewish Chronicle reporter were dismissed as "without evidence".

.
The point of posting the letter from 205 Jewish women, is that the Guardian reported on MP Margaret Hodges uncritically; she had provided no evidence for her public attacks on Corbyn. And the Guardian, in this instance, did not question Hodges unevidenced claims.

.
It is a matter of fact that of Margaret Hodge’s 200 complaints of antisemitism in the Labour Party .... concerning 111 individuals, only 20 were actually Labour Party members.

Do you have a link that's not behind a paywall @samG76?

derxa · 08/12/2019 18:44

Jews should be eradicated " ,are "bent nosed"" should be drowned in Red Sea to avoid using gas". No references to israel at all - pure anti-semitism. utterly shameful

HeIenaDove · 08/12/2019 18:45

Well @OlaEliza Your post on here reveals the motive behind your posts on the Dispatches thread.

Seems some Tory voters arent above co opting an eco bent so they can use it to berate poorer people.

derxa · 08/12/2019 18:46

only 20 were actually Labour Party members. Well that's OK then Hmm

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 08/12/2019 18:49

ColourMagic yes the article was dismissed

Did you read Louise Ellman’s statement when she left the party?

Have you read any other statements from Jewish Labour MP’s and their fears and concerns ?

That 20 are party members, is very concerning did the Party Leader speak out and publicly expel those members - no just the same old we don’t accept blah blah

And neither did he speak out against Ken Livingstone for some time (and hardly spoke out against him directly) same old response

I find it concerning that you are so dismissive of these women’s complaints but then sadly it’s what I expect now fro
many Labour Party members and Corbyn supporters now - you have proven my argument

ColourMagic · 08/12/2019 18:52

Complaints against 20 actual Labour party members, out of a Labour party membership of 500,000.

All actual acts of antisemitism should be called out and dealt with.

But its not accurate to claim that antisemitism is "rampant" in the Labour party.

I find it concerning that you are so dismissive of the letter from 205 Jewish women, which the Guardian refused to publish.

Dusty01 · 08/12/2019 18:58

Not at all unreasonable. I am terrified of the Tories getting in.

NHS is on its knees. Another Tory government will decimate it, whether NHS is up for sale or not.

Schools are close to being shut down round here. Primary is £230,000 in debt and that’s considered normal for these times apparently.

It’s normal now to see homeless people everywhere. I personally know people who’ve ended up on the streets because of breakdowns that could happen to any of us or our kids at a later date.

I could go on and on with reasons why I’m petrified.

Many people are blind to all of this though. I’ve no idea how.

You are not being unreasonable.

ColourMagic · 08/12/2019 19:01

"I find it concerning that you are so dismissive of these women’s complaints"

IPSO dismissed the Jewish Chronicle's reporter's accusations against an innocent Labour party member. The Jewish Chronicle's accusations of "bullying Louise Ellman", were dismissed by IPSO as without evidence.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 08/12/2019 19:04

I haven’t dismissed their opinion or their experience

Keep digging ....

ColourMagic · 08/12/2019 19:09

I am still waiting for backing evidence for your very many statements on this thread, EnthusiasmisDisturbed

You have got a good game going on. Making statements without evidence, never producing evidence to support your dismissal of other peoples well supported statements. I guess you could go on forever.

BUT you still have not produced any evidence to back your posts.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/dec/05/seventy-labour-staffers-give-statements-to-antisemitism-inquiry
"In the overarching submission from the JLM, there are detailed allegations of antisemitic abuse at party meetings and by members online, including:

One respondent who listed 22 examples of antisemitic abuse at party meetings where he was called “child killer”, “Zio scum”, and “Tory Jew” as well as being told “Hitler was right” and that he was “good with money”.
Another who witnessed a comment at a ward meeting that “the only reason we have prostitutes in Seven Sisters is because of the Jews”.
One member reported that other members defended an individual when they said it was “over-representation of Jews in the capitalist ruling class that gives the Israel-Zionist lobby its power”.
A parliamentary candidate who described a councillor being told by a fellow member to go home and count their money after being deselected.
A speaker at a fringe event at the 2017 Labour conference asserting the right to discuss whether the Holocaust happened.
One respondent reported that the membership secretary in South Tottenham, north London, objected to 25 applications for membership from the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, and required home visits to these prospective members’ houses".

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 08/12/2019 19:19

I’m sure you have read Louise Ellman’s statement

Public figures will always revive more direct vitriol than members of the public or those involved in lower level politics simply because that are not known - so the 205 Jewish women who are not MP’s will have a different experience

I don’t need to post anything to back this up - your party leaders are now making apologies and saying lessons are to be learnt

Shame this is what the Labour Party has become and this may be a factor in losing the election (so says John McDonnell)

ColourMagic · 08/12/2019 19:35

"I’m sure you have read Louise Ellman’s statement

I have repeated umpteenth times that the Jewish Chronicle's accusations against a Labour member for "bullying" Louise Ellman at the Labour party meeting were dismissed by the Press Complaints organisation as "without evidence".

.

.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 08/12/2019 19:45

So she is lying ....

And other Jewish MP’s are lying

Her statement is about what has become of the party what her experiences are (and Louise Ellman is not alone in her experiences or in expressing fears)

What you keep bringing up is how an incident was reported and how someone was named

Really do you always dismiss those that tell you what they have experienced or only if they are Jewish MP’s - seems about right from some party members now

ColourMagic · 08/12/2019 20:16

"Really do you always dismiss those that tell you what they have experienced or only if they are Jewish MP’s"

.
I have given you hard evidence of misreporting, and hyperbole, in the antisemitism accusations.

You have not provided evidence of anything at all. Just opinion.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 08/12/2019 20:54

You posted about an incident that was reported by a newspaper they were pulled up for misreporting

It was not Louise Ellman’s words her statement are her words and she makes it clear why she has stepped down - and once again her experiences and fears are not just her own but according to you they are untruths

Your party leaders are now apologizing - I guess it will take time for those that have such faith in them to follow suit

One would believe reading your posts you think there is some sort of conspiracy going on

It’s beyond embarrassing for the party it’s shameful that now only absolute proof (whatever that is as is so easily is dismissed) is needed to accept there is any form of prejudice or racism

Some of the vitriol aimed at Diana Abbott I am under no doubt are driven by racist beliefs there doesn’t need to be explicit language used it’s there she knows it others know it or would you deny that to
