How ‘thin’ is Hollywood?

Sorry couldn’t find ‘chat’ section to post in. Driven by some recent mumsnet threads where there was disagreement on what slim/thin is, I just wondered, how thin do you think celebrities are?

Do you think most of Hollywood is under weight/ BMI under 18.5?

I always wondered- are they normal and we have lost sight, or are they really thin and unhealthily restricting?

I know that’s a generalisation either way but just thought would be interesting to get thoughts!

at 5'8" and 9 stone I was a size 8-10. There wasn't a lot of me, but Kate looks quite a lot thinner than i did

I've just done a bit of googling on Kate Middleton, angelina jolie, CC and JA. Google seems to think they are 53-57kg range, so 8-9 stone

She probably does weigh that, she is very tall.

Ugh, posted too soon.

What I wanted to say is that other than their doctors and themselves, nobody knows what any of these women weigh. My or your guess is as good as Google's. As for Kate, she's fairly tall but really very thin these days so I doubt she weighs north of 50 kg.

Agree with the pp who said there has been a move away from the wait like look. Without a doubt A List actresses are still tiny but I think in a less cocaine and cigarette fuelled way now than they were then. Imagine it’s difficult to work out for 2 hours a day on a coke downer.

I think it's so hard to tell weight wise as a lot of celebs are shorter which would make you think they're lighter. But if they're toned with muscle, they may actually weigh more than they look.

I have obviously always known that VB is very thin but in the Instagram clip where she’s dancing next to her teenage son I was shocked at how tiny she is. She looked like a child

It said Kate Middleton is 55kg so 8.5 stone ish. She's 5'9''. That's pretty skinny still.

It depends really doesn't it, my friend is very very slim, size 6 literally nothing on her and she still managed to weigh nearly 9 stone.

My happy weight is 8 stone 10 at 5 foot 8. Any actress I have met has always been much thinner and more toned than I am. However Davina (mentioned upthread) looks perfectly healthy.

According to google Margot Robbie is 5’6 abd 9.5 stone roughly. I’d agree, that’s my height and I was happiest around that weight. I look like death warmed up at 7 and like a slug at 12. And yes I have an unhealthy relationship with food.

I think you're watching the wrong shows op. Haven't you ever seen Orange is the New Black? Full of women of every size, age & ethnicity. I think that show was a game changer, personally.

I once saw Taylor Swift in a Jamie's Italian (of all places) and shes the thinnest person I've ever seen, like unwell thin. These people aren't in the range of normal....

Your bone structure in your face can disappear and you can look jowly on camera (TV) if you are high end of a normal BMI, especially if you are next to someone 'Hollywood' thin.

For some reason this isn't the case re: Iphone videos etc.

I don’t know if anyone has seen the video of Victoria Beckham dancing with one of her boys, when I first saw it,I genuinely didn’t know where she was, I thought it was a video of a teenage boy dancing with his younger brother, it was only after I watched it about 5 times that I saw it was Victoria beckham and I couldn’t believe how tiny she looked.

I once read something along the lines of the Hollywood ideal was a tiny body and very big head because it translated much better on screen; making actors and actresses almost cartoonish and other worldly.

I don’t think it’s that unusual for women to be noticeably more petite than their teenage sons, admittedly VB is very petite indeed.

I saw Lisa Faulkner (i know not exactly Hollywood) in real life and she was so thin I was shocked. Looks much slimmer in person than on screen
