Are the conservatives really this popular?

LabourHere · 02/12/2019 20:57

Listening to statistician on BBC who reckons the conservatives are head in all polls and will win a majority on election day.

I know only two people voting conservative (mil and dm). Who are all the other conservative voters??

Are the conservatives really going to win the election so easily?

If so...I'm very very sad Sad Wine

Boris is a bit of a coward, backs out of debates frequently - he likes to suggest he is a great orator = what a joke! He's running scared from anyone wishing to ask probing questions - Andrew Neill the most recent - its not a new thing - he is the master of verbal fuck ups, so I can see why his campaign team have him silenced.
We'll all feel the pain of his poor communications after the election or is he planning to stop being challenged by the media after the election too? Churchill my arse - he really is a fuck wit!

The pound surges when the Tories are likely to win as now as Corbyn is proposing all kinds of things which will destroy the economy. The pound would not be suriging if Corbyn were currently ahead in the polls and likely to form a majority governent.

Symptomless · 04/12/2019 21:53

There are no 'shy Tories ' , give it a rest. Ask anyone anywhere and mostly they say they'll vote for tories. And mostly because of whatever lies they've read somewhere.

Spamantha · 04/12/2019 21:55

@Xenia
I don't necessarily agree that analysis. The pound seems to fall when we look on course for a hung parliament (and the uncertainty that comes with that).

It's hard to say how the pound would currently react to a likely Labour majority since at no time has that actually looked like a real possibility.

Antigonads · 04/12/2019 21:58

Yeah. Shy Tories just read lies and believe them.

🙄

TomPinch · 04/12/2019 21:58

Or because there's less chance of a hung parliament.

Unless the polls are wrong, Labour have a mountain to climb if they are to form a majority. This is because of the SNP. Labour used to count on about 35-40 seats in Scotland. This time, they may get one. The Tories will probably get 10 Scottish seats.

So, Labour have to win big in England and Wales. They don't look like having the numbers. There's talk of Tory gains in v v Old Labour territory: Durham, S Wales, S Yorkshire, places that have never elected Tories.

DopeyDazy · 04/12/2019 22:04

anyone who has any property or money can only vote conservative even though they're a load of tossers, every other party wants to tax anyone above the poverty line til theyre broke apart from themselves

Logjam · 04/12/2019 22:04

Shy Tories is bollocks shameful tories more like it - ashamed to admit how bloody self centered they are...no big mystery.

Idolikeanicepieceofcake · 04/12/2019 22:04

I think there are a lot of secret Conservative voters, as they are too worried about being judged for it. Likewise, I know a lot of people who voted Leave, but won't admit it when there are lots of people around. It's sad when people are scared of admitting they vote Conservative.

Alsohuman · 04/12/2019 22:05

and I'd be fascinated to see a copy!! wink

So would I. Because I don’t believe it exists.

chomalungma · 04/12/2019 22:06

Labour have had paid social media activists for the past few years, even producing a document that gives pointers for starting threads and answering questions

Bloody wish I was being paid....this is all off my own back here Grin

Alsohuman · 04/12/2019 22:08

Me too @chomalungma!

Logjam · 04/12/2019 22:08

It's sad when people are scared of admitting they vote Conservative. It's common decency that people should at least feel embarrassed for voting for a party like the Tories.

chomalungma · 04/12/2019 22:09

And here was me thinking a weak pound is good for exports and good for our tourist economy, but a strong pound is good for importing stuff from abroad and for when people want to travel abroad.

What level of the pound is acceptable? Or is a stable level better than one that keeps fluctuating?

Justanotherlurker · 04/12/2019 22:17

I wasn't aware of that, but it would certainly explain a lot ... and I'd be fascinated to see a copy!!

Not going to out the whatsapp and facebook groups, but start here:

organise.peoplesmomentum.com/canvassing

Go down the rabbit hole, you will see a lot of C+P statements being made.

Some users admitted they where labour activists in the run up to 2010, since then it's gone to shit and pretend threads are being targeted by GCHQ

GCHQ?

Really....

Justanotherlurker · 04/12/2019 22:23

It's common decency that people should at least feel embarrassed for voting for a party like the Tories.

If you had any kind of critical thinking skill or nuance of politics you could reason why someone would vote for the Tory's, as it is, it just shows how it is actually you who is intellectual inept.

You don't need to chase likes on MN, you need to stand by you repeating twitter comments.

ArseDarkly · 04/12/2019 22:23

Eh? Confused

chomalungma · 04/12/2019 22:30

Well I for one am looking forward to the Tories getting rid of the need for food banks, having a major impact on child poverty, ensuring our NHS has enough staff, making sure that I can see a GP without waiting for weeks, ensuring that DS's school has enough teachers instead of seeing them leave, and to improvements in the social care system to cope with our ageing population.

But those aren't issues I naturally associate the Tory party with.

Justanotherlurker · 04/12/2019 22:32

Bloody wish I was being paid....this is all off my own back here

I wasn't implying every pro labour comment was paid for, just pointing out that a common scenario of any pro Tory comment must be a targeted attack from GCHQ, it was an easily read comment.

If you struggle to think that MN hasn't been an open target for over a decade of labour activists then your not quite as adept to critical thinking as you make out. Grin

Logjam · 04/12/2019 22:33

@Justanotherlurker It's ok so you vote Tory - you feel like it benefits you - you don't have to feel embarrassed about that but some people do hence they are known as shy Tories - it a generous way to describe them.

MaxNormal · 04/12/2019 22:35

anyone who has any property or money can only vote conservative

And yet....

chomalungma · 04/12/2019 22:35

If you struggle to think that MN hasn't been an open target for over a decade of labour activists then your not quite as adept to critical thinking as you make o

I suspect that MH has been an open target for all kinds of activists who have all kinds of agendas.

Don't you?

chomalungma · 04/12/2019 22:36

I wasn't implying every pro labour comment was paid for, just pointing out that a common scenario of any pro Tory comment must be a targeted attack from GCHQ, it was an easily read comment

I really think you mean CCHQ.....

Logjam · 04/12/2019 22:37

Me too! That would be lovely! I'm not holding my breath with the Tories.
