We’ve only got a Christmas issue!

The Beverly household is at a loggerhead. There will be no turkey should we not resolve this issue, family members will refuse to visit, the children will demand more expensive gifts and and the pigs will surely shed their blankets.

Which baubles shall we decorate our tree with? The classic set or the more modern set?

Please help us avoid a Christmas disaster.

The modern ones! Smile

Compromise.

Go out for a lovely walk this morning and collect pine cones.

Add pine cones to tree with pure white lights.

Put random shite baubles in a glass bowl.

Sorted.

On my first Christmas with a baby, we were so skint that we had no money left after spending a tenner on a real tree. I collected pine cones and put them on the tree with thread as well as making ones out of the back of a cornflakes box and a set of felt tips.

The ex was an utter dick later on when we split up, but he kept those decorations because they were from DD's First Christmas, even though I made them - they still held sentimental value for him, even though he hated my guts.

I now plan ahead - my house has a liberal coating of Ivy and there's a rampant Pyracanthus out back that needs hacking.

GnomeDePlume · 01/12/2019 10:59

Sorry, also not sure what is meant by traditional or modern except that all our baubles have been round and red or gold for about the last 30 years. DPs were the same for the 30 years before that!

DPiL tended to be more freewheeling. One memorable year they stuck baubles to the ceiling. We all took our lives in our hands as pointy glass baubles swung above our heads like festive swords of Damocles!

mynameiscalypso · 01/12/2019 11:03

I can't believe no one else has objected to your outrageous statement re tinsel!

QuiteForgetful · 01/12/2019 11:18

The gold decorations will fit well into other colour themes as well. I think I've used my gold ones in all our trees over 35 years, in one colour theme or another.

BeverlyLincolnScripts · 01/12/2019 11:53

Because tinsel is the worst mynameis

We’re just about to set off to purchase 🎄

Put pictures of both in front of the baby and go with whichever they touch/make moves toward first Grin

BarbedBloom · 01/12/2019 12:11

Modern

81Byerley · 01/12/2019 12:28

Neither. Fill your tree with interesting things. Your tree will look like a shop display otherwise.

Modern ones.

Fill your tree with interesting things

No.

Fill your tree with things you love.

BeverlyLincolnScripts · 01/12/2019 13:47

Again, these are just filler baubles.

Well we got the the pastel colour set as the others weren’t in stock!

Thanks for help Smile

Those were nice too, what colour lights will you have?

Londonmummy66 · 02/12/2019 16:13

I'd use the metallic and turquoise/blue ones from the modern set and the red ones from the traditional. Red and turquoise look good together without being too traditional

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 02/12/2019 16:15

Classic.

Paddington68 · 02/12/2019 16:16

WWMD?
What Would Mariah Do?

MegaClutterSlut · 02/12/2019 16:41

Modern, they look so much better imo
