To think its ridiculous that Johnson sent his Dad ...

Johnson sent his Dad and Gove to the channel4 leaders' debate on climate change instead of going himself. Channel 4 empty chaired him with an ice sculpture.

Is he worried he would show how incompetent he is? God help us trying to influence other nations if he is elected with an outright majority.

It’s really shameful. I can’t believe Boris is trying to get out of the Andrew Neil interview too. It’s just not on for someone who claims to be the best candidate for Prime Minister to do this.

SapatSea · 28/11/2019 21:33

I guess because it's channel 4 the advisers think that not many people will be watching and likely not people who would vote Tory so the reckoning would be that BJ time would be better spent elsewhere, or getting some kip.

PerkingFaintly · 28/11/2019 21:37

it is a good idea to see different members of the teat Grin

The tits in question being the Conservative party, or the Johnson family?

LapisJewel · 28/11/2019 21:37

@outsomnia, I agree!

LapisJewel · 28/11/2019 21:38

It's not to late to halt the climate crisis.

We need to turn this into a major electoral issue.

StarClaws · 28/11/2019 21:47

Gove in not environment minister, it's Theresa Villiers

Yeah, it's pretty awkward that it took so many replies for someone to mention that. Just shows how many people get involved in political discussions in places like this despite knowing very, very little.

HoldNose · 28/11/2019 21:54

Cancelled culture gives low calibre leaders.

ARoomWithoutADoor · 28/11/2019 21:56

YANBU (voted)

longtimelurkerhelen · 28/11/2019 21:56

I thought it was a parody when I first saw Gove and his Dad. Even worse when I saw this...

We are in a dictatorship.

We are in a dictatorship.

Hardly, just heard on LBC - the Conservatives have complained to Ofcom about the ice sculpture.

Yappy12 · 28/11/2019 22:07

YABU.

Maybe he thinks like me that climate change isn't very important. Trump doesn't care about it either.

Cinammoncake · 28/11/2019 22:07

Maybe BJ couldnt go. Maybe he didnt want to go. Is it against the law not to do what the media want them to do.

He's running for election to be Prime Minister. So far he's ducked this and an interview with Andrew O'Neil. So some people might think he's arrogant and doesn't deserve to get elected as PM. It's not an entitlement.

longtimelurkerhelen · 28/11/2019 22:08

@Clavinova What would you call it then?

Yappy12 · 28/11/2019 22:08

I'd say most voters don't care about climate change either. Brexit, the economy, health, education, all more important.

Butchyrestingface · 28/11/2019 22:10

Johnson sent his Dad and Gove to the channel4 leaders' debate on climate change

To be fair, no other member of his fucking family will have a bar of him so unconditional love popsy it had to be. Wink

Yappy12 · 28/11/2019 22:11

Boris was born to be PM and we should all be glad he is our PM and return him to office for 5 more years.

VOTE CONSERVATIVE TO GET BREXIT DONE.

Yappy12 · 28/11/2019 22:12

@Butchyrestingface

Maybe his brother and sister are jealous of all he's achieved.

Butchyrestingface · 28/11/2019 22:12

@Yappy12

If I could vote for BJ as many times as I voted for Steve Brookstein on X Factor, this election result would be SEWN UP.

nellodee · 28/11/2019 22:13

"Born to be PM." Says it all.

lonelyplanetmum · 28/11/2019 22:20

It's appalling to show such contempt for the other leaders, the public and for the importance of the issue by not showing up.

It is deliberate political electioneering strategy though. The Australian /NZ team advising the Prime Minister (including Lynton Crosby and Isaac Levido) have given similar advice before. For example, in Johnson's leadership campaign.

Roussette · 28/11/2019 22:22

Yappy12 I presume you're on the sauce! Born to be PM? You're having a larf. I presume you think Jacob Rees Mogg is a caring clever man with respect and concern for everyone, also. Hmm

BoJo is a complete disgrace and a cowardly tosser too. He has an obligation to do these debates, and he's treating the electorate appallingly. He won't face Andrew Neil, he's too much of a yellow belly.

Whoever thinks this sort of behaviour is OK has a screw loose.

lljkk · 28/11/2019 22:22

What were Bj & Farage doing instead this evening?

theflushedzebra · 28/11/2019 22:25

YANBU op.

Climate change is, in fact, the most important thing we will be facing, all the other stuff - it will all pale into insignificance in the face of climate change. I can't believe people are ignoring it - we can see it happening now. The Arctic was on fire this year. Indonesia, Australia, California, even England, were on fire this year - beyond normal seasonal fires. The Antarctic is melting. The coral reef is dying. The permafrost is melting. There is a massive pacific soup of plastic.

This stuff is not given serious thought on Mumsnet - but that won't stop it happening. We've reached certain tipping points already. We have 10 yrs tops to change our ways - and we won't.

stophuggingme · 28/11/2019 22:34

Risible and predictable
BoJo is so full of hot air and toxicity that he’s a climate disaster waiting to happen in his own right

StoneofDestiny · 28/11/2019 22:37

Johnson is not prepared to be scrutinised and to have his policy choices closely investigated for the benefit of the voting public. He has clearly a shallow specimen of humanity, unable to be closely questioned for fear of his many shortcomings and lies being exposed. How can anybody with an ounce of intelligence trust him.
