Such a relief for all of us especially for our children who would have been saddled with our debt under Corbyn’s plan

Innit. Why aren't they running a positive campaign reminding us of all the good things they've done.

Justanotherlurker · 29/11/2019 22:02

The IFS says the cost of a nodeal Brexit will dwarf Labour’s spending proposals but that’s the right kind of financial ruin, I suppose.

The IFS are saying that Labour are just as shit as Conservative in their costings on the manifesto.

They haven't even priced in Labour pulling the cloak and dagger and pretending they can nationalise some industries if we stay in the EU.

ImGoingToBangYourHeadsTogether · 29/11/2019 22:15

Bot posts like these where posters have literally joined mumsnet today should tell you why voting Tory would be a bad idea.

^^This.

There's a lot of gaming and fakery going on. Remember the Tories 'fact checker' Twitter account?

Corbyn acts in good faith in general. I can't say I agree with everything - I'd be happier with someone who was less controversial - but we needed him to put a more socialist outlook back into the mainstream. And just look what happened next. Lies, lies, damned lies, fakery, bots, gaming and manipulation everywhere. Johnson is the king of liars.

Justanotherlurker · 29/11/2019 22:23

Ignores the fact that mumsnet has been a hot bed of Labour activists during previous elections, lets not try and pretend the obvious astroturfing is just from one side.

There are so many threads, posts and brigades that are from labour activists its becoming comical.

The uneducated thing to try and do with this comment is try and pretend it is just a right leaning issue, but you still tried to play it.

Alsohuman · 29/11/2019 22:30

*The IFS are saying that Labour are just as shit as Conservative in their costings on the manifesto.

And that doesn’t alter what they’ve said about the impact of a no deal Brexit.

ImGoingToBangYourHeadsTogether · 29/11/2019 22:34

?? Not sure I get that.

Honest and straightforward campaigning is one thing. I'm talking about Johnson lying through his back teeth and he and his cronies manipulating data and information to try and come out ahead without plain and honest debate about the issues concerned. Dirty tricks. Things like claiming a Party Twitter account is similar to a more disinterested and accurate "FullFact" checking charity.

I've posted elsewhere tonight about the sudden unearthing in the light of the London attack of a 2015 news story about Corbyn not being happy about police killing civilians on to the current page of the BBC. Someone is gaming that. There are far too many dirty tricks, gaming, manipulation and lies in play for this election, just as there were in the 2016 Referendum. Johnson is the common link.

This kind of data manipulation is something that belongs in China, not the West.

Monsterinmyshoe · 29/11/2019 22:52

I think the last three GE polls have been wrong haven't they?

YABU for thinking people actually give a rats tit about what you think, whether you are voting Labour, Lib Dem or Tory. Honestly we don't care.

I can't be arsed with these stupid antagonising threads.

Perhaps if the Tories didn't decimate the country everytime they are in charge, their successors wouldn't have to spend so much money sorting the shit they left behind. It goes both ways.

AutumnCrow what is a bot?

ImGoingToBangYourHeadsTogether · 29/11/2019 23:02

Bots are fake web accounts basically. They can be automated, or they can be run by real people behind the scenes.

We know there is anti-Western presence on the web - from Russia, China, elsewhere - who spread fake news deliberately to destabilise the West. We know there are plain mischief makers everywhere who do the same. Then there are paid "social media" reputation massagers and other PR experts, from companies and god-knows-where else. That's before you start looking at the traditional problem of right-wing led privatised media moghuls who really don't like having honest competition. We have now pretty much lost public information provision in the UK in favour of commercial and political propaganda.

ImGoingToBangYourHeadsTogether · 29/11/2019 23:04

If we ever had it - but print press is harder to game and corrupt than the fast free-flow of electronic data. Anyone who has read old newspapers from the 1960s and before can see we're being conned.

Justanotherlurker · 29/11/2019 23:07

And that doesn’t alter what they’ve said about the impact of a no deal Brexit.

It doesn't alter what I said either, this is the nuance in politics.

Helbel82 · 30/11/2019 00:15

Labour didn't cause the spending crisis, the bankers did.

Nat6999 · 30/11/2019 01:21

So you don't care about the homeless freezing to death on the streets, the families living in hostels & shipping containers because there isn't enough social housing, the pensioner dying on a trolley in a hospital corridor, the SEN children who aren't getting the support they should. You aren't bothered by the thousands of disabled people being robbed of their disability benefits because the government give bonuses to assessment companies for every claimant they fail, the children whose only meal is a school dinner & whose parents have to go to a food bank even though they work full time, the families who are bringing up a disabled child that will probably die because the drug that could save them isn't being purchased by the NHS, the old people getting inadequate care in a home or having carers come to give them a sandwich because their care package doesn't allow long enough to cook them a proper meal, they often don't get their medication at the right time, the morning call isn't until 11.00am & their bedtime call is at 5.30pm so they go from 5.30pm to 11.00pm without food or drink & are only allowed one bath a week. The communities that are terrified to go out because of street violence, the 13 year olds who are getting dragged in to drug addiction by dealers & pay off their debt by prostituting themselves or become runners for the drug dealers, the old lady who was mugged walking home, the hospital wards that are closing leaving dying patients without privacy or dignity. This is the truth of what a Tory win will look like for this country, I hope you can sleep at night because all these poor people probably won't.

pugparty · 30/11/2019 01:25

YABU, I hope they're decimated at the polls and their heartless grip on this country is finally over.

RicePuffs · 30/11/2019 05:30

Sorry not read through the thread but recently there was a report out estimating that due to Cameron and Osborne implementing austerity immediately after a recession when at that time they should have been spending to stimulate the economy and started paying down some of the debt a few years on once economic was stronger the UK economy lost about £100 billion. Cons are not good economic stewards. Johnson also now wants to take theUK out on a hard Brexit where there have been various calculations by different groups that UK will be £75 billion less annually for the public purse.

Also there is a large group of economists who believe Corbyn’s plans could work well and the spending now will be able to be paid back in the long term once economic productivity has finally improved after nearly ten years of v sluggish growth.

Attached is a letter written by over 100 economists to the Financial Times week arguing why Corbyn’s economic plan has a good chance of working.

YABU you Tory twat

this 😂

Legomadx2 · 30/11/2019 07:21

YANBU

Yesterday's attack showed how much we need armed police these days - and Labour want to get rid of them, so for all our children we need the Tories to win.

wafflyversatile · 30/11/2019 08:27

It's the tories whove cut police by 20k. Are you living in some parallel universe?

Also yesterday's attacker was originally fought off by an unarmed civilian, someone with a fire extinguisher and someone with a narwhal tusk.

As for the IFS report if they think both tory and labour's plans are not viable I'll take the one where they plan to make ordinary peoples lives better over the one that will only improve rich peoples lives.

AlexaShutUp · 30/11/2019 10:07

Yesterday's attack showed how much we need armed police these days - and Labour want to get rid of them, so for all our children we need the Tories to win.

I'm sorry, Legomadx2, but this is complete crap and misinformation of this nature should not be allowed to stand. I'm no fan of Corbyn's Labour party, but they have not said that they want to reduce police numbers, they have actually said that they want to recruit 22,000 more police officers. Yes, the Tories have also promised to recruit another 20,000 officers, but the irony there is that they have cut police numbers by slightly more than this figure since they have been in power.

If you want the Tories to win, that's your view and you're entitled to it, but please let's have an honest debate and stop peddling blatant lies in order to score points over the parties that you don't like.

Mollychristmas · 30/11/2019 10:23

Whoever you vote for the really sad thing is that a government has to have people spend time, energy and resources to post pro conservative (or pro whoever) rubbish on a forum.

It’s like every part of your life is infiltrated by politics which is obvious I suppose but really fucking annoying when you don’t want some dick head behind a screen thinking you’re stupid enough to swallow the pro whoever rubbish they are sprouting.

It’s like the person thinks ‘oh I’ll just say how wonderful the tories are and the silly mums will jump in line and vote for us’ it’s like we’re sheep following blindly a random on the internet just because they said so rather than having their own fully formed ideas.

Alsohuman · 30/11/2019 10:58

Yesterday's attack showed how much we need armed police these days - and Labour want to get rid of them, so for all our children we need the Tories to win

Can we have some proof of that? Nowhere have I read or heard that any party wants to disarm the police.

Trewser · 30/11/2019 11:02

Yesterday's attack showed how much we need armed police these days - and Labour want to get rid of them, so for all our children we need the Tories to win

I'm no Labour fan but this isn't actually true.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 30/11/2019 12:48

Corbyn doesn’t support a shoot to kill policy - well not sure what the police should have done yesterday (he obviously has been told to keep quiet about this)

Also McDonnell supposedly signed a paper calling for the disbanding of the armed police and MI5

So the idea isn’t totally unfounded but it has been exaggerated

Alsohuman · 30/11/2019 14:04

Supposedly isn’t good enough for me. I’m quite fond of a bit of evidence.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 30/11/2019 14:08

Well the first comment there is evidence - plenty if look online

As I said second not so much him name is listed but he then backtracked as said he wasn’t aware what he was signing for - this could be true I doubt I more likely something that wasn’t thought out
